I bought a used '96 Dodge Caravan and the factory installed radio/CD/cassette player stopped playing CDs about a year ago. It would give me an "error" message on the track listing screen whenever I put one in. Anyway, I was shopping for a low-cost replacement car stereo on line when I saw this automotive CD lens cleaner from Maxell. I couldn't find a review of it anywhere on the web so wasn't sure if it was any good or just a waste of money.
Well, it worked for me. I put it in the car player and now the unit plays CDs. There are four sets of three little brushes on the bottom of the cleaning disk that apparently did the trick.
The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the unit still will not play CDs burned on my home computer. Actually, I don't know if it ever did - maybe it was made before CD burners were really popular. However, these same home-recorded CDs play fine in my home audio system and in my other car's stereo.
No guarantees that this cleaner will work for you but at least you have my experiences to consider in deciding whether to give it a try or not. Good luck.

My car CD player was making some weird noises when playing music and had disc errors which were the worst because I couldn't even play the CD when these errors happened. The weird noises were a more common problem though. I bought this product in hopes to fix the issues. After playing the cleaner many, many times (sometimes 5 times right after each other) it seems to have improve my CD player. The problem isn't completely gone but this cleaner has definitely reduced the frequency of the problem.
For the low price it is worth a try before doing more expensive fixes like getting your system professionally cleaned or replacing it altogether. I would have given it 5 stars if it completely fixed my problem but it has improved the problem enough that I am no longer in a hurry to get a new car audio system. For best results you do have to use this product every so often to keep your CD player clean. You might also have to use the product many times in the beginning like I did in order to see results. I just permanently leave this clean in my car for when I need it.

My car is 11 years old. The CD has been cleaned once. I ran this CD cleaner in my car- it took all of 30 seconds or so. I was more than pleased that it cleaned my CD system. At first I was able to play all teaching CD's. After about 10 hours of playing these CD's one particular one became slurred again. I tried cleaning it but to no avail. However, that was only one. The rest work great. This is an inexpensive way to fix slurred speech on a CD. My system was always able to play music, but didn't do well on teaching tapes.

My car CD player was pretty much shot so I decided to buy this. I put it in and it cleaned the lens. The cd worked for some time and then started skipping again. I believe the problem is too much for this lens cleaner to fix. I have no problems with this cleaner. I'm using it in other cars as well!!Customer Review: Product worked

Was unable to find this product at Wallmart. Reasonable price and my CD player worked after using the product. I would recommed it if your CDs are skipping.
