I purchased the Photoflex XS Octodome NXT kit and opted for the Manfrotto swivel 026 Lite-Tite adapter instead. Better overall and matches well with my Manfrotto light 5001B stands. Strong and won't budge no matter what angle my Octodome is at. Comes with 2 adapters, one with a hole in the middle & the other with a flat surface on one side. Both are reversable with 2 different thread choices. The adapter with the male threads is for attaching flashes or softboxes. The adapter with the holes on both sides is for screwing on top of light stands, clamps, etc...
The knobs are easy to turn. As depicted in the photo, the 026 comes with 4 different, distinct knobs.
1) The sliding T-handle is to lock the male adapter that holds softboxes or flashes. Avoid screwing through the hole.
2) The round knurled knob is to hold a photographic umbrella handle in place.
3) The 4 point knob below the previously mentioned knobs is to secure the adapter with holes that is screwed on to light stands.
4) The adjustable black handle opposite of the three knobs is used to adjust the various angles.
Due to factory lubricants used, I'd highly recommend wiping down adapter first to avoid getting other photo equipment greased up.
