Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Magellan Maestro 4250 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

Customer Review: I want one for my own
Summary: 5 Stars

I had the pleasure of dealing with this unit when my grandparents bought one and needed someone to give them a tutorial (I have no idea why they picked me, seeing as I don't own one). Physically, the size is very nice, it is thin but does not feel cheap, can easily be slipped into a pocket or purse. Theirs came with a neat suction bracket that can be adjusted several different ways, up and down as well as side-to-side. It was so easy to setup with their home address and a few others to get them started. It does not have their street, but they are close to a major state road. I liked that you can select one of four routes (quickest time, shortest distance, most/least freeway) for your destination. POIs are plentiful and could be super handy if you are in an unfamiliar area and hungry or low on gas. They did not sign up for the traffic updates free trial, but that is a nice option to have. I have put one on my Christmas list so I can be as cool as my grandparents.

Customer Review: big features for a small price
Summary: 5 Stars

I checked into several other models of GPS and used another brand twice before deciding on this one. The touch screen is very responsive. Being able to pull up previous destinations has been a very useful feature and it only takes a few clicks to get there. The VR is very responsive too, I've actually had to disable the voice controls a few times because my kids have learned to yell "magellan" from the back seat just to hear it talk to them.
I've enjoyed mine so much my husband got one and my sister-in-law and they are very happy with them as well.
The only feature I am unhappy with is the bluetooth phone connection. It was very easy to set-up and it works perfectly - I just have a sound quality issue, it could be because I drive a full size van and the voices just get lost in so much space but I can't hear the caller very well. My husband has used this feature in his smaller car but the caller gets a feedback of their own voice which is annoying.

Customer Review: A Great Contraption!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have used the Garmin, Tom Tom and the Magellan before deciding which one to purchase. Ultimately we decided on the Maestro 4250. We were a little nervous only because so many reviews commented on how horrible the customer service was. Well, a couple of days after we had been using it, the inital start-up screen with the hour glass froze - and I panicked. However, one call to customer service that lasted all of 4 minutes solved the problem (holding down the power button for 15 seconds, incidentally).

The Magellan's screen is bigger, which is great. The voice command option is cool as heck! The directions are super-accurate and recalculating takes an average amount of time, no matter which GPS system you use.

I have found that some of the issues people complain about with GPS stem from insanely high expectations that NO portable GPS system can meet. After comparing three major brands, we found that Magellan works best for us.

Customer Review: The Magellan 4250 is a GREAT VALUE
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros
Good large touch screen
The GPS was always right with directions
The AAA tourbook(a feature on this gps) was extremely useful because it told me when shops or attractions closed or opened. It also gave me information about the shops and attractions.
The Gps has a nice easy interface
It provides accurate turn by turn directions with TTS(text to speech)
The windshield mount is nice and sturdy

Cons
It sometimes freezes even with the latest firmware
The traffic reciever only works in the United States
Some of the Points of Interests were outdated

I took this gps to Canada and it performed great. the directions were always right. Since i am a first time gps user I needed a nice good priced gps and this was it. I spent time researching about Garmin and tomtom gps wiht the same price but they weren't as feature rich

Customer Review: Awesome! Everything I imaged and more.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought a new altima coupe and could not afford the upgrades of built in gps and bluetooth or the Boise Radio and XM. I am traveling and knew how handy it could come in. So, I did the homework, looking at available sytems on the market and price comparisons. This model had what I had hoped would be the capability to perform equal to built-in systems. It easily mounted on the windshield and have had it their from the first day. I go advance throught the screens easily. I planned my first route and the directions proved flawless. The bluetooth, proved equally handy for hands free operation of my cell phone. It easily connected to my Verizon LG phone and my callers say they heard me clearly. The 4.3 inch screen is sized amazingly large enough to view anything from small detailed directon to overviewing a large portion of the map. It looks smart in my car, and now feel that I have really saved a ton of money over built-in gps. Thanks
