Customer Review: Works great! good value
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very happy with the Magellan Maestro 4250. Registering and activating traffic with Magellan's web site worked smoothly. The unit picks up a signal quickly and gets traffic info within about 10 seconds which is plenty fast. I was able to pair using bluetooth with my LG CU500 phone which isn't listed as being compatible so that was an extra bonus. I mainly got this model for the integrated traffic, great POI database and multi route capability. Voice commands and using the built in mic for phone calls isn't perfect. I do need to move close to the mic and speak loudly for either to work well but it does work. It is nice to just say Magellan, Go Home. I expect from other info I have seen online that customer service from Magellan is horrible but I haven't needed it and I have never needed customer support for most electronic gadgets so while that weighed into my decision it wasn't a deal breaker. I chose the 4250 for the features I want for about $300 less than the Garmin 760. I am happy with my choice!

Customer Review: Can't believe I didn't get one before.

Magellan Maestro 4250 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
I can't believe that I waited so long to purchase a GPS unit. I researched all the units on the internet and decided to purchase the 4250 because of the features and the 4.3" screen. I am extreemly happy with the unit. It worked great right out of the box. I am really happy that I got the Magellan unit with the larger screen. It makes it easy to view at a quick glance. Easy to use and good instruction in the 82 page operators manual on the internet. At first I was carrying a map to check to make sure it was working correctly. That only lasted a couple of days. The unit is so accurate and I now have confidence that it will always do the job. I could not be without it now. Purchasing it on Amazon saved me about $125 from the cost at Best Buy. Just an added bonus. They shipped it right away and I had it in three days.

Customer Review: Great GPS Unit, Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought two of these GPS units in October 08, a new unit for my daughter as a gift and a refurb unit for myself. Both units work great. No major problems. I updated the firmware from Magellan's web site, it's free. I also updated the maps. Both units shipped with 07-08 maps. The update is to the latest 08-09 maps, cost is $80 per unit. The traffic indicator works great and is inexpensive $40 for a year of service. With it enabled, the unit will route you around heavy traffic. The unit is very easy to operate. The controls and screen are very intuitive. The fact that the unit can act as a hands free speakerphone (Bluetooth) is a plus. The unit works with both my BB Pearl and my daughter's Palm phone. Without the firmware update you have to connect the phone to the unit every time you want to use it. With the update, once synced, the phone will auto connect. I looked at the 4350 at a major retailer, much more $$, no real difference I could see (maybe it comes with new maps, don't know).

Customer Review: Was Impressed For the Most Part
Summary: 5 Stars

We recently used the Magellan Maestro 4250 on a trip to the Midwest. My husband named her "Vicky". For the most part, the Magellan worked flawlessly unless my husband would try and get "Vicky" flustered by making several very fast turns.

I was slightly disappointed that the unit was shipped with the 2007 map instead of the updated 2008/2009 map. I guess it would have been less annoying had it stated that I was purchasing a unit with an outdated map. The first address, I tried, was my daughter's as she lives in a fairly new house and the Magellan would take me to an area east of her house. By scrolling I could get to her neighborhood but then it showed her street as the last one in the subdivsion, when in reality there are and have been for some time several more streets as her house is over 3 years old.

But all in all, I am happy with my purchase. It's not the perfect GPS but I seriously doubt, that there will ever be one. It sure beats getting lost.

Customer Review: Much better than I expected
Summary: 5 Stars

I felt compelled to write the review after reading all the negative reviews on the unit. I am immensely pleased. The voice command capabilities make the unit a unique player in its class. The price has come down substantially from its original price. The automatic night mode is very nice. The chip set gets the signals rather swiftly even though I have not installed it on the windshield (installed on the dash). I do recommend the software upgrade to 4.x (this is totally FREE). Anyone who buys a GPS should check for updates on the firmware. I think too many people with the 4250 are using the old 2.x firmware. Upgeade to the 4.x version (takes 5 minutes) and the unit performs very very nicely. When compared to the Garmins it has a lot more features for the same price. The battery life is very nice and the unit is rather sleek. The AAA features and the traffic alerts are pretty amazing. I wonder why all GPS units don't have something similar. I am very pleased!
