This convenient GPS is relatively easy to program frequent trips from address book listings or to new destinations in hard to find locations as long as an address or intersecting roads are known. The "ding-ding" warning when a turn is immediate is very helpful and the right/left instructions is great for my wife who doesn't understand north/south/east/west directions. Rapid re-routing when traffic obstacles force changes in planned routes is particularly helpful. Portablility allows planning long trips at a dinner table helpful for multiple stop-overs and plug-in recharging of battery in the motel as a follow up is a benefit. Since we have many friends who live in gated communities with winding roads, this device is wonderful in helping us find our way out after dark. Finding a gas station or restaurant on an unfamiliar road is so easy with this GPS and makes long trips more relaxing.Customer Review: Better than expected.

I just bought it for fun. I was impressed how fast it find the way. I made wrong turns to test this unit, it re calculate very fast. I was going to buy one with text to voice(like make left turn on 1st street, not like left turn on 0.5 mile) but with is unit I don't need that expensive option. It give ding dong signal about 30 ft before I need to make turn, this is very important when you drive. Last Sunday I test this unit to find the way to my church, it find faster way that I didn't know before. I save 5 min. drive bec. of that. Size is big. people who intrested buy 7 in screen, forget it this is big enough and doesn't cover you sight to the road. It comes with case for this unit, ac power cord, and suction cup and the mounting adapter. I am very happy with it. I wish I could add business time on POI and my favorite locations. I've had mine for about a mounth now and it is a fantastic little device.
the reason I purchased the GPS is because I was going to be doing a lot of traveling in different states. That little talking screen was a life saver, I mean she lead me right to the door of my Hotel, she found places to eat. And when I say "she" I mean the disembodied Female voice the GPS has. The GPS has a few little Quarks but if one keeps driving on the same road and not making a lot of wild turns she well straghten her self out. Other then that the screen is bright and automatically changes for night driving, the windshield mount is really strong and stable.
So the bottom line is if you need to get somewere and don't like to read maps pick up the Magellan Maestro 4000.

I just purchased the Magellan Maestro 4000 GPS, which I found refurbished, with everything included that a new one would have, for one third of the price. I found it very easy to operate, and very helpful on a recent trip from Portland to Eureka and back. I also use it for my work assignments, as I am sent to various different locations every week. I am now using less paper and ink for printing google maps. I also found a good deal on amazon for the GPS Nav-Pack -WEIGHTED Dash Mount Carrying Case- which is great. I hesitated to permantently mount the unit to my dash, and this "Nav-Pack" sits solidly on the dash, and can be stashed out of site in the padded case in seconds. I am very happy with both of these purchases, and highly recommend them.Customer Review: Awesome

This is a great buy..... You can't beat the pricing on this one..... Don't listen to the other reviews...... Mine has never froze up like one of the reviews was saying... Must have been a factory defect... Which the 3 year factory warranty would have covered it anyway... If they would have just called them and sent it back I'm sure they would have replaced it.... I'm not sure if the other person who gave a review even knows how to correctly work theirs.... They said there wasn't many POI's and there is over 1 million POI's "points of interest" Like wineries and tourist hot spots..... Plus they update them regularly via satellite.... So ignore the bad reviews....... You will be pleased with this item.... The icons are so cool......
