Customer Review: Great low cost accessory

Since my truck has a factory navigation system combined with the premium sound system, there is not an auxiliary input to the stereo. So I tried the FM transmitters you plug into your cigarette lighter and into your iPod, with a small low power transmitter in the cord, or in the DC power plug. Unfortunately, these are notorious for easily being interfered with by adjacent radio stations since they do not put out very much power. I also live in an area where finding a clear channel is quite a challenge, and more than once found the channel I was using was activated by another radio station in the distance forcing me to start over and find a new channel. Plus you also have to get used to having this cable draped through your vehicle, which also can pick up interference from other sources within your vehicle. I got hum from the lights in the shifter console if the cord got in the wrong posiion.
Then I found this little device. It sits in your cup holder with just a power cord coming out of it, so there is less interference from other sources in your vehicle (I have found none). Plus it seems to have better transmit capabilities than the inline transmitters and has made it a little less susceptible to interference from the far off stations.
While I will say this is not the ideal product for listening to your iPod in the car, I feel it is the best for the price. You can still get better fidelity by getting a wired interface to your stereo. But I have found this unit to be very acceptable for an inexpensive solution. The only down side is the power cord that plugs into the top of the unit. But there is no graceful way to get power to it, so I can live with this.
