Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Lorex LW2002W Portable LCD Wireless Surveillance System (White)Customer Review: Amazing night vision! Summary: 4 Stars
We received this monitor from my sister-in-law as a gift. We had registered for a plain old audio monitor, but she said "You WANT this monitor!" She was right! It's great!
Pros:
-above all, the night vision is perfect. It's like you're looking at the baby in broad daylight (except it's in B&W)
-the day vision is great too
-the screen size is great, not too big, not too small
-the monitor/receiver is a great size and weight. You can clip it on your belt or stand it up on a flat surface
-the camera is nice- you can adjust it in many different directions, put batteries in it or even mount it. It seems like it would be unstable, but it stays up very well.
-the night light feature doesn't seem like much, but when it's pitch dark in a room, it lights up quite a bit
-it's nice that it turns the sound off so there's no "white noise hum" especially since we keep a white noise machine in his room
-if you turn the volume all of the way down, you still have the meter on the top that lights up if there's noise
Cons:
-the controls are anything but intuitive, but once you figure it out, it's ok
-there is no battery meter telling you how much battery is left- annoying
-the monitor makes this loud beep when you turn it on- also annoying and you have to make sure you're well out of earshot of the little one before you turn it on
-if you leave the monitor on, it only lasts about 3 hours which I guess is ok
You can also hook it up to your TV, but we haven't done that yet. We really like this monitor overall. It's great to watch and listen to your baby and easy to carry around the house- not much bigger than a portable phone. We love it so much we're buying one for my best friend for her baby.
Customer Review: Great product with a few minor issues Summary: 4 Stars
After much research we purchased this product to use as a baby monitor for our 2 year old. We had been using a 1st generation video monitor that died. All in all we are very happy but there are a few nagging issues that prevent me from making this a 5 star review.
Pro -
1.) The video quality is great.
2.) Range is enough to reach from our basement to 2nd story with no issues
3.) Night vision is awesome. This is 10X better than our old monitor
4.) Support for extra cameras is awesome and a snap to set up
5.) Ability to display on a TV is handy. Great for observing the playroom while the adults talk upstairs. We can all see what our kids are up to!
6.) Design, the unit is well designed and has a nice belt clip and snap out stand.
7.) Love that it is secure and can not be monitored by others
Con -
1.) Volume - Now I understand what other reviewers are saying. If you imagine the volume setting on a 1-10 scale, this unit has settings for 5, 7 and 10. There is no setting for 1-5. So on it's lowest level it is way too loud.
2.) Battery life - I assumed the 2-4 hour life was when you had the video displayed. This is even true when you just have it monitoring. This is not long enough.
3.) Customer Service. I have sent several messages asking to purchase an additional charging stand and have not been contacted. I hate to think how they would treat me if I had a problem.
Having had the unit for a few weeks I can say I would buy it again. This unit has several features higher priced units do not have and if you are looking for a multi room system with night vision, it would be hard to beat this one.
Customer Review: Pros and Cons of Lorex Baby Monitor Summary: 4 Stars
We found it challenging to compare monitors on-line. We settled on the Lorex, and are quite happy, but wanted to report pros and cons for the sake of others struggling to choose:
Pros:
--clear picture
--instant pairing of camera to receiver
--good packaging and instructions
--solid feel
--cameras and receiver use the same, small 9V AC adapter; receiver can be charged on or off its home base.
--doesn't look like scary spy equipment
--cute feature of being able to turn on the nightlight on the camera from the receiver. If someone waves for help, you can signal that you're on your way.
--bright red LED's to indicate sound being received--grabs your attention nicely if you're sitting quietly reading while baby's in another room asleep.
--cameras run well on 4 rechargeable AA batteries
--night and low-light performance are amazing, and the infrared lights are completely unobtrusive
Cons:
--turns on at full volume, so that if monitor and receiver are in the same room, feedback can result. This is not fun at night when trying to use the monitor to help baby and partner sleep.
--related to this, there is no mute--you can turn the sound sensitivity and alarm volumes down, but can never be sure they are OFF.
--buttons on edges of device are too easily pressed by accident.
--camera units are very slighly top-heavy.
--slick, rounded profile of receiver is slippery; doesn't stand up well; slides around on bed or couch.
Hope this helps,
Sanjay

Customer Review: Lorex LW2002W - Very Good, but not perfect. Summary: 4 Stars
Pros:
Good picture quality.
Good audio quality.
Good build quality.
Good wireless range.
No interference or static.
Highly sensitive (VOX) Voice On switch (in non-power saving mode only).
Can connect to external TV.
Charger cradle is very convenient, no need to plug & unplug the charger.
The kick stand and belt clip are awesome features.
Cons:
Poor VOX sensitivity in power saving mode (LCD turns off to save power).
The Battery life is ~1 to 1.5 hrs. in non-power saving mode.
A battery level indicator is needed.
Should use replaceable AA rechargeable batteries, or longer lasting Lithium Ion.
Lacks a talk back feature (from monitor to camera).
Comments:
Used as a baby monitor. Besides the Cons, I love the monitor, it works perfectly as advertised.
Remote light is unnecessary.
Alarm is unnecessary.
The battery life could be prolonged significantly if the VOX worked properly in power saving mode. In power saving mode it takes a loud sound to activate the VOX, and is therefore unusable. I was able to mitigate the battery life issue by placing battery chargers at strategic locations around the house. One in the master bedroom, one in the living room, and of course the cradle charger in the kitchen. I had saved these chargers (power supplies) from old cordless phones we discarded over the years. The proper fitting jacks are available at Radio Shack, just be sure the charger voltage and jack polarity are correct (sorry, a little soldering is required).
Customer Review: We really like this monitor Summary: 4 Stars
so, the only problem we have had with this monitor is if it is not attached to the base, the battery seems to die relatively quickly- definitely needs to be attached at night, or it might die in the middle of the night and you would never know it since it doesn't beep or otherwise let you know before it turns itself off - as long as it's attached to the base, it's been fine. Also when traveling we had problems in one house with being too far from the base with low signal at certain angles but after playing around with it we were able to get it to work, and everywhere else we've been it's been fine (even upstairs, etc.). We have not had a problem with only hearing noises above a certain volume as others have complained about- it turns on with very quiet noises, not just loud crying, and I don't think anyone can stay awake to listen to breathing sounds all night (as a pediatrician, I really think it would alert you to any noise that might signal a concern.) It has no interference, and you don't have to worry about privacy and seeing into other babies cribs at night! Overall, we've been very happy.
