Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech x-230 2.1 2-Piece Dual Drive Speakers with Ported SubwooferCustomer Review: Amazing Speakers for a Cheap Price Summary: 5 Stars
So, a week or so ago I was searching the net for some good speakers. I was hooked to these ones. After looking all over the net I found them at the cheapest I could get them, about 2/3 of the price Logitech sells them for. I settled with that. When I got them, I wasn't expecting much. Heck, anything was better than my old 1999 JBL Speakers! The first thing that surprised me was the installation. Even the computer illiterate can figure this out in a few minutes just by looking, there is also a brief manual, while not very descriptive, should help a little if there is any possible troubles (I can't imagine any, even the computer illiterate could do two plus two and figure out the power cord on the sub goes to the wall, and the "thing" with the screws goes in the back of the sub, and looking at the manual should show the speakers go into the back of the PC). Some speakers, specifically 5.1 channel sets can take exceedingly long amounts of time to do, especially when there is no manual! So, this is very straightforward. Took me 2 minutes, 3 tops, from the opening of the box to plugging everything in and turning them on to get this all set up and good to go. I turned my Windows Volume settings all the way up, and adjusted the bass, picked a song and I was surprised! The subwoofer can really pack a punch for having such a good size, unfortunately, however, it can be WAY too strong. I find myself plugging in the headphones (only during nighttime when others are asleep) since even at the lowest settings, the bass is pretty powerful; when listening to music though, I have it very high, if you are a gamer and you love bass and you need a set for a more affordable price, you'd be nuts to get any other set! Many people complain about the bass being too strong, such as in an office setting, however, as long as you're not playing Rap or Heavy Metal the bass on lowest settings should go unnoticed. If you want speakers that can be heard from the upstairs closed up bedroom like mine, all the way downstairs to the kitchen, then these are great for you; Windows Volume Controls Maxed and the speaker volume only half way can easily achieve this. The speakers themselves could pump just a tad more juice, but, they are perfect for gaming and music. These speakers are great for space conservative people. The speakers themselves can have the bases removed from sitting on the desk and re-positioned to be wall-mounted; this also improves sound because the wall behind you (assuming there is one) acts as a reflector. The right speaker acts as the control center; there is a power button that you can simply press to immediately turn off the speakers, a easy-turn knob for volume, and a headphone jack. I may have used the same old speakers for years, but, honestly, I've seen many speaker sets in my life. My brother has an incredible speaker/bass set that is as of now, significantly worse than the Logitech X-230's (for me, they're on par, but, he has a very advanced Sound Card and my sound card is integrated, if we both had the same sound card the Logitech's would be the clear winner). Honestly, I've never met any hardcore gamers, but, from everyone I've known with PC's, I've never seen such a good speaker set, and that's saying a lot. Logitech is perhaps one of the greatest companies I've ever bought from, whether it be keyboards, mice, webcams, speakers, headphones, etc. these speakers are only $40. It is rare to find a quality set at this price (and a subwoofer that is quality, this one might be too good for the office space though. Most subwoofers are crappy, weak and insignificant at this price range and push themselves, the Logitech subwoofer handles max power like a breeze and shakes the walls). Buy these speakers, you'll never regret it!
