Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech diNovo MiniCustomer Review: Perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
I just started writing reviews of products, since i realized i read through them to make my own decisions. Probably a good thing though for this particular device as i bought it a year ago! Simply put it has been fantastic for controlling my HTPC (a Dell Zino HD) in the living room. Can't think of any other device that would do the job i need as i don't use any particular media library software on my PC, i need regular mouse/keyboard features. Very easy to use, very easy to setup, hardly any glitches after a year (i only had one actually, one of the buttons, the number 5 key typed 1, but luckily after a hard reset it has worked perfectly now). I was a little ambivalant initially after reading the negative reviews, but i couldn't disagree more. Every guest to my house has marvelled at the DiNovo mini, and i am sure better devices will come out in the future, for the price and simplicity you can't beat this. I recently bought a harmony 750 to compliment my setup - now i only have two logitech devices on my coffee table instead of three to four remotes, etc.
Customer Review: Ideal HTPC remote control Summary: 5 Stars
When you have a PC next to your TV for media center application or simply browse the Web,you do not have much choice: you must use a complete wireless keyboard and mouse. This was true until the DiNovo mini, now you have a complete palm size mouse/keyboard.
Super easy to install (on Vista), the battery life is great and all the keys are there and even more. Also the keyboard has a backlight which makes it practical in the dark. The build quality is very good too, it feels solid in your hand, usual for Logitech.
The only negative aspect would be that the keys are very small (hey small keyboard small keys), it is of course not intended for game play but only for small inputs such as a url or a name.
As the keyboard is trying to save its battery, it goes into a sleep mode after some inactivity and drops the BT connection and it can take as long as a couple of seconds to be able to use it again.
Really the perfect device everybody was waiting for. Could not live without it.
Customer Review: Works Great with Mac Mini and Plex Summary: 5 Stars
I would consider myself a all-around computer guy, working with macs and pc's and I hesitated when I bought this for my mac, because its not supported (officially). Well leave it to mac to bring it all together. This works perfectly for my home theater Mac Mini. I have only connected it through the provided bluetooth dongle but I believe it will work with the Mini's built in bluetooth as well.
GOOD:
Plays well with Mac Mini, easy to use mouse function as well as selector function. The power button feature on the keyboard allows you to power down your mac which is what I was worried about, but all is good. Very small size, nice foe a home theater.
Bad:
No function (f12, etc...) keys, so some default mac keyboard shortcuts dont work. Other than that, its a sweet little device.
Other thoughts:
I wish logitech would combine their cool harmony remotes with a small wireless keyboard like this, that would make for one bad a$$ device!
Customer Review: Glad I found this Summary: 5 Stars
Reading some of the reviews, I was worried about the connectivity issues (which I had with my previous wireless mini-keyboard). I received the DiNovo Mini two weeks ago and had no such issue with it during that time.
It is a nice object, which can rest on the couch armrest easily. The touchpad requires a little bit of patience (that's the main thing that could use improvement), even though I like using touchpads in general. My previous keyboard had a trackball, which got dirty and useless, I expect no such problem with the touchpad (much better).
You have to learn the key combinations for some common functions (right-click, delete and escape), that takes a couple of days. I like that the keyboard is backlit (very convenient), but the alternative functions are not very shinny (hard to see in the dark). The prominent page up and page down keys are great for browsing. The volume up and down buttons are handy too.
I am not sure about the battery life yet.
Customer Review: Best HTPC remote I have used so far. Summary: 5 Stars
This was my third remote that I ordered to use with my HTPC, and I think I finally found one that works well. My first was the IR remote that came with my Dell Inspiron Zino HD and it had very limited functionality. The second was the Rii Portable 2.4GHz Mini Wireless Keyboard. The Rii is a great little keyboard with a track pad as long as you don't get more than about 8 feet away from your HTPC. The diNovo mini uses bluetooth and works up to 30 feet away from the PC. The battery life has been exceptional, I haven't had to recharge it yet and I've had it for over a month now. Being able to switch between modes with the pad has been great. Makes using Media Center a breeze. I would highly recommend this remote for anyone putting together an HTPC. Love it!
