Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard (Black)Customer Review: Amazon rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a product review, then a partner seller review. I recommend the keyboard, and also recommend Amazon as your source for buying it.
As for the keyboard, it's gorgeous. It looks wonderful on my desk, and it has its own storage for when I need to use the space to write. The keys are the quietest keys I've ever tapped. My only complaint is that to keep it beautiful, you have to fanatical about cleaning it. It shows finger prints, so I definitely don't recommend it if you're the type who eats at their computer or gets their fingers dirty very easily. I don't think I'm clean either, it's just too expensive of a product and too nice looking of a product for it to be treated in such a fashion.
As for my tale of woe getting this product. I bought this originally from a partner company, we'll call Liger Roundabout, because it too had a rebate deal. Not to mention, its price was enticing before you factored in shipping. The problem is: this LR company sent the box to the wrong address several states away. By the time the box was redirected, it had been opened - the keyboard had been manhandled and the mouse I ordered with it missing. To replace the keyboard, LR demanded I return first the keyboard then they would ship a replacement. When they did not, we called and they claimed they didn't receive it. Meanwhile, the mouse they replaced from the missing first order they resent to the same wrong address. After the incompetence, we canceled the entire order and went without.
Contrast that with Amazon. A week after the LR offer for a $30 rebate, Amazon had one, so we bought the same two products, only this time, the mouse too had a rebate. I received the keyboard, and the silver plate on the bottom was slightly misglued, leaving a discernible crease. I called Amazon, they overnighted me a new keyboard without hassle.
The power of customer service is mighty indeed.
Customer Review: This keyboard is the best ever! Summary: 5 Stars
I love my diNovo keyboard; it is so cool that I feel all wrong using my computer's regular keyboard. The light weight and super-thin sleek board are such a welcome change from what usually passes as a keyboard. I don't think I could ever really go back to a standard keyboard.
This keyboard has some very nice features, like programmable (lighted!) hotkey registers (they are under the polycarbonate panel), and these are really neat, but honestly, I don't seem to end up using them all that much. I suppose I could have done without them, but they are nice to have.
This keyboard has a neat little integrated touchpad, so in theory one could do completely without a mouse, but here again I don't quite do it that way; I do use a wireless mouse along with the keyboard.
This keyboard does not have a 10-key pad, but does have some of the common editing and cursor moving keys in a similar location. This seems an advantage, and certainly does keep the size down.
You won't find a more elegant keyboard anywhere, at least for the time being. This diNovo unit is somewhat expensive, but the Bluetooth link is totally reliable, the board is ultra-sleek, lightweight, extremely high quality, and just all-around cool! It's very easy to get religious over this keyboard, once you own it and get used to it. You've been warned!
One thing though, and this isn't a complaint at all, but some people may not like the style of keys in this board. They feel great to me (they are like an elegant version of the light-touch, low-travel keys on most notebook computers) but this means that if you specifically seek the heavier, longer travel keys with the big springs in them that the old-school hard key bangers are into, then you won't want this board... not that you wouldn't get used to it just fine, though.
Customer Review: I love it already Summary: 5 Stars
I should probably wait until I've used this thing for a few weeks to give a fair review, but I couldn't wait. Plugged it in yesterday and I love it already. I have been looking for a good keyboard to use with my HTPC. I have been thru three other wireless keyboards that were, admittedly, made more for desktop/laptop use rather than HTPC, and have always been disapointed. Lately I have resorted to using the on-screen keyboard for the limited typing functions needed, but that is a major pain. This keyboard has the bonus of having a built-in touchpad with scrolling, so I may not need the mouse anymore either.
The first thing I noticed when I got it out of the box was how solid this keyboard is. It is so thin, yet I don't feel like it is cheaply made at all. Of course, the price is a big drawback for most people. BestBuy had it on sale for 40 percent off, and I had a coupon for another 12 percent, plus 65 dollars in reward money, so this thing ended up costing me not much over 60 bucks.
Setup was instantaneous, and I have had no range issues sitting 14 feet from the PC. I realy liked the fact that the charging base WAS NOT the receiving base, so I could have the charging base plugged in and sitting on the table next to my theater chairs, rather than trying to find a place to put it on the entertainment center next to the PC.
My only complaint is that I have not found a way to turn off TAPS on the touchpad. I really hate that tapping on the touchpad acts like a mouse click. I just don't see the need for that when the mouse buttons are mere millimeters away from the touchpad. There may be a way to turn it off, but I have not found it yet.
Highly recommend.
Customer Review: Best keyboard -- period -- wireless or otherwise Summary: 5 Stars
My laptop recently crashed and I decided to revamp my desktop for maximum efficiency and aesthetics. Let's face it you want your work environment to look good, but not at the expense of effective result driven equipment. I read every single review on Amazon while mulling the purchase price -- a bit pricey for a keyboard. I have owned an older version of the logitech wireless variety (keyboard/mouse) combination, but found them a bit too clunky and the direct sight issue was annoying. I purchased the diNovo hoping it would provide good connection to my PC, using older USB ports, I thought this may be a problem. I have owned it now for 2 weeks -- I can only rave about the keyboard response time and program functions available. The aesthetic design has also made it easier to type and feels less stressful on my wrists and hands. What is the logic behind the risers on keyboards anyway, they only appear to pronate your wrists into uncomfortable positions. The mouse pad is good for maneuverability, but I recommend getting the package deal on Amazon (good price). The engineering on the diNovo was a bit off placing the mouse click on the left side of the keyboard and the mouse pads on the right (not intuitive) -but no major drawback, as I see it. The battery life is phenomenal, two weeks out of the box after in initial charge and the screen indicator still reads full. By the way it is even cooler looking than the pictures give it credit. I coupled it with the MX Revolution cordless lazer mouse and HP W1907, 19 inch monitor, and my home-office is as inviting as it gets. My 5 year old desk top just got a 2007 face-lift, and moreover this pseudo-dynausoaur is humming along because of it.
Customer Review: Minimalists dream Summary: 5 Stars
I have my computer hooked up to the plasma in my living room.
I went to this from a Logitech G15 (which is awesome in it's own rights)
Here's why I bought this: I just needed something wireless and something that looked really nice.
Here's why I'm glad I bought this: It serves a dual purpose of looking really good and being extremely functional. I don't have to reach for my mouse when I want to sit back and check on facebook, or turn on some music, or find something on netflix, I just grab this thing off the coffee table (where it sits and looks real pretty) and go for it. Function keys are programmable, there's volume control, a touch pad, zoom in/out. It doesn't feel like you're typing on a laptop (some people, including myself, find that style keyboard more comfortable and easy to use than traditional keyboards) it feels better. I'm sure this has been said, but pictures don't really do it justice, its very minimalist... the only time the lights come on are when you touch the touch pad or volume control, or press the function key or the circle keys on the left. Logitech's SetPoint software makes all the FN keys, as well as the sleep and the media center key, totally programmable. I also game with this keyboad (CS:S and BF:BC2) and have had no problems. If you've spent more than a thousand dollars on your computer, this is a very worthy purchase; don't sell yourself short on a different device.
The only shortcoming of this device is the touch pad, it's sloppy. But I don't use it for precision, I use it because I'm too lazy to grab my Razor Mamba mouse.
