Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Z-5300e THX-Certified 280-Watt 5.1 Surround Sound PC and Gaming Speaker SystemCustomer Review: Good for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this system for a couple of months now, and no problems at all. Set-up was easy except for the part with the sub. It's huge and its pretty heavy too, also this guy is upposed to go under my copmuter table so a little trouble there. Any way, the system works very well. The sound out of the speakers works for anything from the best rock n' roll to even rap. Now back to the sub: it's very overpowering if you're connecting it to on-board sound. You'll probably need a sound card, even something as simple as a Creative Live-24bit will do. The software that comes with the creatives allows you to take out the bass as much as you want, so you get control back. The only problem i have is that the rear speakers arent built it be more than lets say, 5-6 feet away from you, or else its kind of hard to notice them. The only other thing is that the back of the sub where you connect all the wires gets pretty warm after a couple hours... and if you leave it on for a while, it can actually go towards becomming hot. All in all, a pretty good system for the price. If you can add about $100 more, i would recommend the 5500's though.
Customer Review: 4 years later and still going strong Summary: 5 Stars
I guess I forgot to post a review for these speakers when I got em. Not such a bad thing, I guess. Cause now I can let you know that after 4 years, these things sound as good as they did the day I took them out of the box. I have enjoyed playing games, watching movies, and especially listening to music with these speakers. Of course it is not all just the speakers, a good sound card is pretty much required to get the most out of them.
The subwoofer is massive and the bass can be a little overwhelming, but if your audio software has a setting for low frequency crossover, you can easily adjust the amount of bass that you want coming through.
Not only do these speakers sound good. They also look good. Both with and without the grilles attached.
This purchase has really sold me on the quality of Logitech products. I am the kind of guy who expects stuff to last forever and this surround sound system has certainly met my expectations in that department.
I will be looking to Logitech first from now on when replacing any failing components on my overworked PC.
Customer Review: Not a review, but a suggestion... Summary: 5 Stars
to those that are having trouble with the speakers in relation to the monitor: depending on the type and age of the monitor, it's best to keep the speakers at least a few inches away from the monitor (especially the sub) just in case, but a good degauss should eliminate any color problems. after all, that's what it's for. also, for the person that sits the sub on a shelf...DON'T DO THAT! it eliminates the resonance of the bass. subs are best placed on the floor on a padded surface (to eliminate vibration-induced buzzing on hardwood), such as the carpet, a rug, or other thin material, unless the subs have their own "feet". also, bass is a non-directional sound, so you don't have to have it right in your face to get the full response.
as far as magnetic shielding goes, i'm sure these have shielding, but for the price, probably not a whole lot, but the sub is the only one one with a big enough magnet to produce interference (if any) through the casing of the speakers, and the above advice about speaker placement should eliminate that threat completely.
Customer Review: Great Speakers for Decent Price Summary: 5 Stars
I just got these speakers and have been using them for 2 weeks now. The bass created through this subwoofer is amazing, it really rocked the whole room. I feel that if the bass is any stronger; it will not be needed. I live in an apartment and I will not be able to turn it up louder than it already is.
Pro:
-Great price for a 5.1 THX certifited speakers
-Sounds are crisp and clear on both low and high range no matter what I use it for
-The matrix function is definaily a PLUS for listening to music (which is a function that help make any music/game into surround sound)
Con:
-The wires are too short for setting your speakers around your room, however this can be solved if you go out and buy some extention for them.
-The bass is very big for me, I can't find a good enough space to put it given its size
Overall this is a very great speaker for its price and I recommend it for people of all ages that play games, watch movie, or listen to music on their computer. It will enrich your experience by THAT much!!
Customer Review: Good sound, good bass, plenty of power Summary: 5 Stars
I got these to replace some old creative 5.1 speakers that were slowly going out on me. The creative had a good run, but this system really caught my eye for the price and power. It was easy to set up, though I was a bit surprised to see RCA connections for everything rather than ye old speaker wire. My only complaint is the front speaker wires are short, but in my mind that's not enough to take away a star over. The sound is crisp, powerful, handles a good range, and they system can get pretty loud. I can only bear it at about 50-60% power depending on what I'm listening to. The bass IS very strong, the sub is a behemoth... but it is adjustable via the controller. And if you're an audiophile you will have EQ software on your computer anyway. More is better than not enough if you're a sound freak like me and tweak the EQ constantly. I'm very happy with it. I plan to use it for a long time, it even looks cool too :)
