Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Z-5300e THX-Certified 280-Watt 5.1 Surround Sound PC and Gaming Speaker SystemCustomer Review: Great for the price Summary: 5 Stars
To start with, the 5 unamplified speakers and sub in my home theatre cost almost exactly 10 times as much as this entire speaker system cost, so I've got a pretty good idea of what good sound sounds like. I'm not one of those guys who thinks the 6x9's in my car are "bangin!". So, on to the review.
I gave this speaker system a 5-star rating not because they sound as good as my home theatre speakers- they don't- but because they sound exceptional for the price. The satellite speakers stay clear and mostly distortion-free as high as I am comfortable with pushing the volume. The speakers will never blow out any windows, and they can't compete in sheer SPL with higher-powered speakers, but they certainly go loud enough. They do start to sound harsh toward the upper-eschelon of the volume range, but to me, that's too loud anyway.
The sub is a modern marvel of engineering- it may not be precise, but what it gives up in intricate detail, it makes up for in sheer thump. In fact, at lower volumes, it thumps noticeably harder than my much more expensive sub in the living room. I'm surprised how much air such a low-priced sub can push out. Again, it can't compete with high end equipment on sheer volume, and I would never discribe the bass as "tight", but I get a grin on my face just thinking about just how much bass an inexpensive sub can put out.
Definitely recommended. This system puts the much lower-powered X-540 to shame.
Customer Review: best PC gaming speaker. Good for music too Summary: 5 Stars
Ordered this speaker from Amazon with free shipping but had to wait for 2 weeks to get it. Well, free shipping then you need to wait longer. Anyway, this speaker is the best PC speaker that I tested. I tried Alteclansing, cyber acoustic, some of them have clear sound but no bass, some of them have too much base and no clear sound. End up I returned everything and get this $ 199 5.1 speaker set. Now low down the price to $ 123, so it is a good buy. Check Compusa to see how much they are selling this speaker and compare to amazon. The surround sound is very clear, no matter in high, mid and low range. Play BF2, FEAR, COD2, HL2, DOOM, Quake4 with thunder rocking sound. Listen to pop, classical muscic with clear sound. DVD movies rock too. A lot of people complaint the cord of the rear speakers are too short, but for me is ok..perfect setup in my room. If you want to set it up as home theater, then you will need extension cord for the rear speakers. The corded controller is big and easy to use. The green and orange LED is pretty after I turned my room light off. Finally, I got a perfect set of 5.1 speaker. Logitech good product. Amazon good price but slow shipping. perfect 5 stars for this product. Go to get it, this is the speaker you will like.
Customer Review: Serious speakers.. Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned my z5300e's for a couple years now, I've been blown away the whole time.. These speakers don't mess around, it doesn't matter what kind of music I play, or how loud I play it, it comes out sounding amazing..
I LOVE the bass quality, apartment dwellers beware though, it is a lot of bass.. and the sound quality overall is very impressive.. nice and clear even at very high volume.. The THX tag is definitely not just for show..
They were pretty easy to set up.. color coding and shaped plug ends really make it fool proof.. It's easy enough to extend the speakers, it's all just RCA jacks.. The sub is HUGE.. a foot cube with 3" or so of amp and plugs on the back.. so finding a home for it was a bit tough.. the heat at high volumes can get pretty insane so some open space is very necessary..
I personally would have enjoyed a wireless remote option.. and a mute button on the wired remote would have been a welcome feature.. but these are very minor things..
They might be less available now.. but these speakers were ahead of most others in their price range when new. and are still worth the price for the quality..
Customer Review: Awesome speakers!! Summary: 5 Stars
Things to look out for:
Bad
1. You need a 5.1 compatible sound card to get the full effect of the speakers.
2. The Xbox/Playstation/etc. adapter uses only 2 speakers and the sub.
3. If you have limited space, measure for a spot for the massive sub.
4. If you have a large room, you will have to buy extra cords to make it surround. With a smaller room, you can manage.
Good
1. You CAN totally eliminate the bass (if you want to) with a software equalizer (I did it with itunes) and the corded remote.
2. Great sound quality with a good mid-range.
3. Even if you don't have the 5.1 sound card, the 2 speaker/sub combo works really well and sounds great.
4. Extremely easy set-up.
5. Looks Bad A.
6. Haven't yet used it for one, but seems like it could handle great house parties.
7. Don't let the fact that they spelled "surround" wrong deter you, these ROCK!
Overall I'm very happy with these. I don't have a 5.1 sound card yet, but if it's better than the limited sound I have now... I can't wait! You can't beat this price and power. Buy it.
Customer Review: Good speakers dont mind criticizing reviews Summary: 5 Stars
Well I got these speakers a few days ago and I can say that they sound very nice. The mid-range is very clear, and the subwoofer does a very good job. After reading some of the criticisms I feel like they should be explained.
Some people complained about the subwoofer being uncontrollable. There is a button to control the volume of the sub. Turning it down helps. If you use the equalizer on your computer (or any equalizer at that) you can fully adjust the bass to whatever you want. People who complain about the bass obviously are not using any sort of equalizer.
It is true that it does not have a digital decoder, and if you want true surround from sources without decoding, you'll have to buy some sort of decoder. But is it really fair to fault speakers in this price range for not having a digital coder? Speakers with decoders cost way more than these speakers. If you must have a decoder you should buy a different set of speakers but those would almost surely cost more than $100 more than this.
I will be in agreement that the rear speaker wires could be longer. You can get adapters for this.
