we have these connected to our Vista Media Center pc in the den with the wide screen tv. connected to the appropriate 5.1 outs from the computer. works great and is loud/full enough for regular movie experience at half volume.
the 4 side/back speakers can all be easily mounted on the wall with one screw [each]. center speaker flat screen rubber pads are very neat and handy.
these are made for a computer desktop kind of setting, so rear speakers are long enough for that, I think 12 feet. get some extensions for a living room setting. for the same reason the cables are black, so you'll want to get some wall colored wires anyway.
wish the cables were neutral color and there was a separate input for an mp3 player too but for the price I wouldn't expect that and they are a great deal already if you catch them on sale.

I have had these speakers for over a month attached to a HP dv5t laptop, the sound is absolutely ridiculous compared to some old Boston Acoustics 2.1 speakers i had, the bass is incredible, crisp and booming. because i use it on a laptop the speakers are attached to a 2.1 soundcard only, but with matrix mode the sound becomes almost surround, there is slight distortion. And yes like other ppl have noted there are some occassional popping noises, but that's from the laptop soundcard, i attached the speakers to a desktop with a 5.1 card and the sound is even nicer, no popping yet.
I recommend watching for the occassional logitech 15 or 20 dollar rebate which brings the price down to about $35+$17 shipping. Great deal considering msrp is $110.I have a small room and the cables are just the perfect lenght and the sound is terrific.

Well first things first... I've never own surround sound before. I recently bought a new flatpanel HDTV in december and i decided to get a surround sound to go with it. I wanted something cheap.. nothing heavy duty. Logitech was getting some good reviews so i decided to get this set. I realise that most people seem to use these speakers with their computers, but i hooked mine up to my TV. I had to do a little adjusting to get the speakers to work with the normal TV and XBOX 360 but it was a piece of cake. The sound is pretty good despite not being THX and it really adds to my movies and games hearing voices and sounds behind me! When i bought the set they were going for 70 bucks, but as i write this review Amazon is selling them for 50 bucks... I wanted to get a home theater system for my tv for a while now. It was suggested to me to try computer speakers. Well, since I have the Logitech Z-2300 at work (sweet stuff), I wanted to stay with them and get a 5:1 system. After careful research I decided on the X-540. What a deal! When I first plugged them in, I heard sounds on even commercials that I had never heard before. When I was watching a movie that had a thunder storm, I had to look outside because it sounded so real. I used to have to crank my tv sound up to hear it over screaming birds and an a.c. Now I have no problem. I don't have to turn these speakers up too loud and I can hear everything and my neighbors don't complain. Granted, the wires are a little short but that can be fixed with extensions. Bought these amazing speakers in February of last year... They rock! So far, I've had no problems with them. The sound is amazing, bass is loud and pretty much makes the whole wing of my dorm fill with sound, and this is just with the volume knob turned halfway up! The only (small) issue I had with these speakers is that there is way too much cable for a small area. But its a quick and easy fix by just wrapping the loose cables up and tying them with zip ties. Issue is not even worth removing the five star rating from these.
I also use these to watch movies in my room now since I've moved to a bigger area and the sound is great. Sounds exactly like I'm in a movie theater with the bass turned all the way up. If you're looking for a good buy and you're on a budget, these are the speakers for you!
