Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with SubwooferCustomer Review: Huge difference over my Yamahas Summary: 5 Stars
I replaced a 2.1 system from Yamaha for this set because I was tired of hearing muddy bass all the time. I am so happy I decided to buy these. I've had the x-540 since the beginning of February and waited a while to review the system so I could get acquainted with it better.
The sound is stellar, there's a better sense of spatial effects, the bass is very clear, overall excellent for the price. I don't think I've had to turn the volume up past 1/3, so you don't have to worry about the speakers not being powerful enough. The matrix mode is great for movies, I don't use it for music because I think it sounds better normally plus most music is mixed in stereo anyway. Also, the easy bass adjustment is very convenient.
Qualms: the "control pod" has a headphone jack which my Sennheisers cannot connect to, the jack is sunk in a bit and the headphone input is too big to fit in there. This doesn't really matter because I can just plug my headphones straight into my iPod or TV.
If you're looking for a sizable improvement in sound and you don't want to spend too much, I would highly recommend these.
Customer Review: Wonderful, bargain-priced real surround sound Summary: 5 Stars
For a truly affordable price, you get a wonderful surround sound system that is great for music, movies, and gaming. Plug your computer, laptop, or even your iPod into it and immerse yourself in a bath of sound. Matrix mode is a great way to get surround sound effect from a stereo output. If you are using a laptop that does not have surround sound output, you can easily purchase a USB external sound card, like I did, and then you will have a real 5.1 setup, but even without it Matrix mode is great at giving the effect of true surround. The subwoofer is great, adding a greater sense of depth to your sound even in music that doesn't have a throbbing bass. It makes even Renaissance lute music sound more realistic, and listening to Bach and Vivaldi through this setup is a blast! You can turn up the bass dial (which is really a volume control for the subwoofer) and not lost the clarity of the sound or the treble. That really impressed me. Oh, and cannon fire sounds (and feels) great, as does a Dodge Viper.
This is a great buy. I almost immediately went out and bought a second set for my brother.
Customer Review: Best for the price. Add Turtle Beach DSS and WOW!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had these speakers for a while to use with my laptop. I set up a new workstation in the basement and bought a 26in LED flat for the wall above the desk. I hooked up my ps3 and the sound alone was so good i play there more than upstairs on my 50inch plasma and 800watt sony 7.1 system, I also have a bose 3-2-1 in the bedroom, these speakers beat both for modern warfare. I don't know why but when you press the matrix button and the other 3 speakers kick on...watch out. The surround is supposedly not real true surround but it sure sounds right. I can tell direction on the game better than I can with my turtle beaches with the dss surround on them. I unplugged the headphones and plugged in the green speaker lead into the jack on the DSS module and these speakers went to a new level - these speakers rock so hard for me and I am a true blue geel level gamer with more high end toys than I can afford. These speakers are better than the newer digital logitechs and can be had for like $50 on ebay while the new digital logitechs are like $400 - these speakers are awesome and then some.
Customer Review: sound great Summary: 5 Stars
i got these used and there was some damage, but they still sound fine, although this is a seller issue, the only reason i mention this is because I thought the damage messed up the surround, this is not true it turns out the colors of my sound card , xonor d2, do not match up the colors of the cords of the speakers. the problem i had was the rear right and rear left coming out of the same channel. after about an hour i figured out if all i needed to do is swap the black and pink cable.
if you have this problem do your self a favor and do this first.
now on the the real review
the main reason i got these is because it matched the styling of my R.A.T 9 and my logitech g19 & if i ever get one the g19 as well as my silverstone rv 01
so i love my games and i love my music i Live in an apartment and its really hard not to just blast these because they just sound soo good i really wish i could some time
they look good and should good, in a time were sleek curves if you want to be different and stand out these will do well for you
Customer Review: Excellent for the price Summary: 5 Stars
For $100, you can't beat the quality. While somewhat complicated and time-consuming to set up (at least for someone like me who's never plugged in so many wires before), the result is well worth it. The moment everything was hooked up, I excitedly called everyone in the house to hear it. Instrument distribution is pretty good. The purity of the sound is gorgeous. Bass is wonderful, my favourite feature since I have mostly bass-heavy songs and never got to enjoy them in this quality before.
There are a few cons. The remote control is wired. The wires to the speakers are pretty short-- don't plan on placing the speakers more than six feet away from the subwoofer. You don't want wires running across your floor anyway. The fact that they're wired at all is annoying. There is a lot of static at times, unless you turn the bass all the way up, which isn't ideal for some songs. An ionizer should help clear this problem up, I plan on getting one soon.
All in all, the pros outweigh the cons and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
