I bought these for listening to music at my desk, and I really like them. The sound is very balanced & clean, one key for me is listening when to low bit rate MP3s the difference is obvious when compared to higher bit rates. Bass response is serviceable, for a 2 driver system I'd say it's excellent really (physics is physics - if you want kickin' bass, you'll need to buy a 2.1 system or a 3 driver bass port at 3x the price)
Nice build, very solid. The front panel volume & tone knobs are very nice, and as other mention I *love* the lack of a power brick (just an old-fashioned AC plug, so you're not fighting for power strip space).
Logitech hit a home run with these!

Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers I love the speakers they deliver a clear, true sound from the pc and from the MP3 player. They are slim, nice to look at and take up less space then the chunky speakers that come with most computers.
However, they need a 3.5 mm male to male cable to connect to the MP3 player and the website does not tell you that it is not included or that you even need one. I knew one was needed, unlike a lot of non computer savvy folks, but assumed that the cable was included. I ended up having to hit Wal-Mart to get the cable. Not a major issue, but still annoying.

bought these to keep on my kitchen counter for use with my macbook... i wanted something that would let me hear my music or talk radio while i was wandering between the kitchen, living room and laundry room doing chores...the built-in speakers on my laptop are good but not quite loud enough. i ordered these because of the good reviews and the price. got them today and hooked them up and they sound wonderful!! the sound was definitely louder than my laptop speakers when listening to talk radio... but i could really tell the difference when playing music... it was beautiful. so glad i got these. they look nice, too... and they are taller than i thought they would be (not a negative).Customer Review: Great sound for a small speaker

The speaker on my laptop isn't loud enough to hear especially if I want my husband to hear something and he is sitting in a different room.I ordered the Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers and I was really surprised when I plugged it into my computer.I knew it would have a louder sound but I sure wasn't expecting this great of a sound.There's no cracking or buzzing and the tone is perfect.My husband purchased the Logitech S150USB Speakers with digital sound for his laptop and he is very satisified with his also.We would recommend both brands if you are looking for some great speakers for your computer.They are both compact so they don't take up alot of room.Great speakers for a great price.Customer Review: More than we imagined! We recently purchased a new computer and did not get speakers with it so after much research on quality and price comparisons, we found these on Amazon and were shocked at the price. We decided to risk seeing if they were okay and Wow! what a surprise we received upon their arrival. First of all the quality of the speakers were very nice. Very durable and nice looking. Then we plugged them in and turned them on. Who needs a stereo with these! The sound performance is unbelievably incredible. We are more than impressed with this product and for those skeptics (like us) that say, "You get what you pay for." Well it doesn't have to cost a fortune to have a high quality product!
