Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech X-140 2.0 SpeakersCustomer Review: Very Good Sound & Built "Kid" Tough Summary: 5 Stars
I can not really add much to my review which has not already been said. These are great sounding speakers for the price.
If you want speakers with accurate music reproduction, thumping bass and higher volumes, best to spend more money and upgrade to Logitech's Z-4 model. But for casual listening and computer gaming, the X-140 speakers are more than adequate.
My biggest positive is the durability & construction; very hard plastic backs with heavy duty metal front grills (which are virtually impenetrable to pencils, pens, and other kid wielded objects). So far, after 4 months of use, I have deemed them "kid proof". Those of you who have small children know what I mean. I highly recommend the X-140's for those on a budget or those who just can't see the logic in dropping big dollars when kids are around. ****April 2010 update. Still in great condition and rockin' strong!****
Customer Review: Added a little oomph Summary: 5 Stars
Needed to upgrade the speakers but didn't want to spend a lot. These logitech speakers fit the bill. Many speaker sets are large and cumbersome which creates a need to move equipment around. I didn't want to do that. This set is slightly larger than the $10 speakers you can pick up anywhere, but the sound is greatly improved. The volume is much better and so is the quality.
These speakers are being used in a large room for video conferencing with students. The nice part is the size. As I said before, I didn't want to have to rearrange equipment to get a set of speakers with a subwoofer to fit so I gambled on there. No regrets! I simply plugged them in, placed them where the old external speakers were and turned them on. No problems hearing the webconferencing now!
Definitely consider getting these if you don't have a lot of space. And, Logitech is a trusted name.
Customer Review: High Praise Summary: 5 Stars
I am afraid I can only echo what others have said. For the money, these are the best speakers you can possibly have. Do they sound like Acoustic Research or Bose speakers - well, no. Did you really expect them to at $30?
They are built tough, connect easily, and the power supply does not require an AC/DC brick. They are a bit large and consume desk space so if you are looking for compact speakers, you should look elsewhere. (Perhaps a setup with a floor mounted bass?) That being said, the sound is fine for internet cruising, simple games, and pop music.
If your requirements include naturally aspirated instrument reproduction (jazz, symphony, opera) get out the wallet and buy some serious acoustical speakers. Other than that, these will be more than adequate for most needs. Once again people, they only cost $30!
Customer Review: Logitech scores again Summary: 5 Stars
A fervent music fan (opera, orchestral, Broadway, big band, jazz), I never thought I'd see the day when I'd listen to most of my music on the computer, but that day recently arrived.
So, I decided it was time to think beyond the lackluster speakers embedded in my monitor, and I shopped around. Having previously bought the Logitech iPod charger/player, which I found surprisingly good, I was predisposed to the brand. Still, I was unsure about getting these speakers after reading some of the less-positive reviews on this page.
I'm glad to say my fears proved unfounded. You just can't beat the sound of these for the price. They are perhaps just a tiny bit short on both the high and low ends of the sound spectrum, but other than that nit, they provide very satisfying sound. I haven't regretted my purchase for one minute.
Customer Review: Quality speakers, durable, long-lasting, affordable. Summary: 5 Stars
I've had these speakers for at least two years now.
Some positive points:
- Slightly heavy, they won't slide easily. (Parents of toddlers and owners of cats, rejoice!)
- Durable and long-lasting; I've had these speakers about 2 years, dropped them and yanked them, and they're still golden.
- Smaller footprint without being annoyingly miniature.
- Well-considered cord lengths, not too long and not too short.
- Perfectly fine sound quality for day to day enjoyment.
- Tenor, bass, and even reasonably high volume do not distort.
- Convenient auxiliary inputs for less fuss.
- Handsome appearance, not over-designed or over-fashionable.
- Affordable.
Negative points:
- Audiophiles seem to complain, in other reviews, but I have no ear to appreciate that problem. :)
