Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers

Customer Review: Great Value
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the reviews and had my doubts, it sounded like a good deal but read how some complained about the bass and how they crackled at loud volume. I researched many different speakers and these were some of the highest rated by users. Let me put your mind at ease, there is no way you can beat these for around $25. They are good solid built speakers. I listen to a lot of music off my computer including big band and vocals and these speakers more then support this with a nice surrounding sound. They also work well when turned up, now not sure if they would work for a drunken party where you have to have it cranked up to full or if it works well for thumping bass, but I do know that they do go way loud enough to be heard in another room with no loss and no cracking.

I admit they may not make the cut for a serious surround super high quality sound, but at the price and for personal use, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you are searching for concert hall booming sound then you shouldn't be looking at $25 speakers, you are dreaming, go ahead and spend more and get those expensive speaker systems. For the rest of us that want decent sound at a decent price, these are the speakers for you.

Customer Review: Our second set of these...
Summary: 5 Stars

I got a pair of these speakers for Christmas, they have served me well, so when we decided we need better speakers for the computer in the bedroom, we got more.

Previously we had some wimpy USB powered speakers, to watch Netflix from the bed we had to make sure the Netflix player volume, the computer volume, and the speaker volume were all cranked about to the max. The result was not pleasant.

But these provide plenty of volume even barely past the on/off click. That's another thing; Our old speakers had an on/off button, and to push it, I had to reach past all the breakable frua-frau junk my wife keeps on the computer desk with both hands, one to hold the speaker, the other to push the button. Otherwise it was very easy to push it off the back of the desk. These logitech X140 speakers have the power activated by turning the volume knob, and they are much heavier speakers.

The sound is nice and clear for watching movies, playing games, listening to music, or what have you. I'm no hi-fi nut but if you are you probably wouldn't be shopping for computer speakers to listen to music anyway.

Customer Review: Good sound, no power brick, very tough
Summary: 5 Stars

We've bought 20 sets of these over the past few years and they're holding up well. We include these when folks check out video projectors and they work well for that.

Pros
Simple, just two things to plug in: mini audio & power. All cords are permanently attached and power is just a regular plug, not a power brick.
Tough, they have a thick plastic case and metal mesh over the speakers, no one has broken one yet. These continue to stand up to a lot of portable use that has killed lesser speakers.
Good sound, our customers use these to play DVD's in presentations. They have a pleasing tone and are just loud enough.

Cons
They're tall and a little tippy.
Cord management is annoying. When you pull these out of the box they're pretty easy to set up. But getting the cords wound up so you can get them back in the box takes a little work.
They don't get really loud. Turned up all the way, with the laptop audio all the way up, these are just loud enough to use for DVD presentations.

Customer Review: Great speakers, great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these speakers a couple of years ago and they're great. No, obviously they are not fantastic high quality speakers, but I didn't want fantastic high quality speakers. If that's what you're looking for, by all means, drop a couple hundred bucks. But if you're just looking to amplify and improve the quality of the sound coming from your laptop speakers, you couldn't do better for $30.

My only complaint is that the first half of the volume dial is almost silent, so you have to turn the dial about halfway up before you hear anything at all- quite a few times I have wondered if something wasn't working before realizing that I just needed to turn the dial up.

Other than that, they are durable, decent quality, and haven't given me any problems. I also love that the power adapter is built into the system, and not an extra brick taking up space among all the others on my desk.

Overall, these speakers are a great deal, especially for the price.

Customer Review: the best speakers for this price period.

Logitech, thank you for making speakers that make me care about music again, these are large/heavy, however this turns my laptop into a really solid movie viewer, i mean it pulls me into the movie, playing my old songs, i am hearing things i never heard before, very accurate, not loud shake the windows, how sound is meant to be.

solid build.

im exited to get off work to use these..

i bought a different usb manufactured speaker model for my laptop which are great for travel, but this is kinda like my "audio docking station" for my laptop.

simply amazing!

oh and the aux input mutes the built in 1/8 inch input, how flipping smart is that??? instead of a loud buzzing noise that other lazy manufactures would overlook.

i would recommend these to anyone!
im a serious audiophile who is starting to recognize better sound at lower levels.
