Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech VX Revolution Ergonomic Design Cordless 2.4 GHz Wireless Laser Mouse for Notebooks/Laptops/PCs with Hyper-Fast ScrollingCustomer Review: You get what you pay for... Summary: 5 Stars
There's an old saying, "you get what you pay for". This cannot be more true than when talking about this Logitech VX Revolution mouse. First, let me say that this is WAY overpriced. Paying $80 for a mouse is RIDICULOUS!
All that said, I still bought one (at a sale price) but still paid too much. However, I cannot be more happy with my purchase. This thing is ridiculously accurate and smooth. I had recently bought a MS Optical 4000 mouse and the Logitech makes it look like cheap imitation. The VX works perfectly at close range with the USB receiver, while some other mice (sorry MS) have to be a certain distance away, which makes no sense on a laptop since you are usually working on a small space or desk. The mouse is very customizable and scrolls very smooth, though the wheel does make a little bit of a noise when scrolling (minor annoyance). The ergonmics of the mouse make it fit your hand perfectly. It glides on my desk like it were on ICE, no hick-ups or skipping like with the MS mouse. Again, I'm super-happy with this purchase. Supposedly has very good battery life as well, but I can't confirm that seeing I've barely owned it a day.
Needless to say, I'm returning the crappy MS mouse. If you have the money and desire, buy this mouse as it may be the last one you ever get.
**UPDATE** - Just to update, battery life is also pretty solid. I purchased this in October and just had to change the batter after the new year, so about 8 weeks or so, on a standard AA battery. Loving this mouse!!
Customer Review: My favorite mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this mouse more than one year ago and have used it with my desktop Mac. I have since learned that it has been discontinued, which saddens me because it is the best mouse I have ever used! Consequently, I purchased two additional mice - one for my MacBook Pro and one as a spare. As a student of interior design, I use CAD software on a daily basis and have found the programmable buttons a tremendous help for creating my drawings. I did use SteerMouse to configure the buttons for this application (AutoDesk's fault, not Logitech's), but I have had no problems since installation. This is by far the most comfortable mouse I have ever used for my small hands.
After reading others' reviews, I have a few suggestions:
1. READ the instructions! Many of the reviewers' problems might have been solved by simply obtaining and installing the correct drivers.
2. DON'T drop your mouse! I don't understand why you would subject such an investment to repeated abuse. For the record, I take care to avoid dropping my cell phone or sunglasses also.
3. Keep your mouse clean! I have found that the occasional "twitches" are usually caused by dust or cat hair on the lens of the mouse. Once I remove the dust, my problem is solved.
4. Turn the mouse off whenever you're not using it and use batteries intended for high-tech devices. Longer battery life (mine lasts about 6 weeks at a time) equals less hassle, less expense, and fewer batteries in a landfill!
Customer Review: Probably a 4.5, but a wonderful mouse. Summary: 5 Stars
I'll start off by saying that I'm actually surprised on how many people do not like the new wheel. I love it. I have always disliked the ratchety movement/sound the traditional wheel had. The new wheel style is a big plus on my end.
Of course the price is a bit out there, but the Logitech G5, which I love was similarly priced not too long ago, but was corded. So for a high end mouse, I wasn't that shocked by the price.
With any high end mouse you want to be able to customize the mouse buttons and I think Logitech does a nice job of that with their SetPoint software. Almost every button can be customized for your liking. I find the horizontal scroll useless, so I made them back and forward buttons.
My biggest negative is probably the size. While it makes it highly portable, for someone with big hands, like me, the mouse can feel a bit dainty, but you get use to it.
The zoom buttons seemed the most useless to me, but I changed the function of those buttons through SetPoint.
I still haven't figured out how long a battery lasts, so that could be an issue, but only time will tell on that.
Pros
- Portability
- New Wheel
- Customization options through software
Cons
- Price
- A little small for big hands
- Zoom button
All in all I love the mouse. It has a few things I personally would fix, but at the end it does its job extremely well.
Customer Review: Best mouse EVER... no seriously. Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite mouse of all time. I use it as my main mouse on mu home PC as was as on the road with my notebook.
The ergonomics are AWESOME (for right-handed people; sorry lefties).
The texture and feel is amazing.
The weight is not to heavy that it's hard to move, but it doesn't feel like a piece of junk, like most "notebook" mice.
I did have a problem with the first TWO I owned... I had one for almost a year, and the wire that connects the positive battery terminal came un-soldered. I bought another one, not realizing it has a great warranty.
After only a month, the same exact thing happened... so I looked into the warranty - I knew it had to be at least a month... turns out both mice were covered.
I contacted Logitech and gave them my amazon order number... not sure if they confirmed with amazon or not, but in about a week, I got TWO brand new VX mice and have been using the first one ever since. It hasn't had any problems, but thankfully, I've got another in reserve.
Sidenote: Some people might see the two problems I had as a bad thing, but let me tell you, this mouse is worth the possible trouble (there are no guarantees you're going to get a lemon). It is the best mouse I've ever put my hands on; and I've been a PC user for over 15 years and a lover of PC accessories for all that time too.
If you can get your hands on one, DO IT!
Customer Review: Over a 5 star mouse, exactly what i was looking for,But read on Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this mouse that i purchased from amazon. Took around 7 days for the mouse to arrive which is longer than i expected but still did not take away my excitement when i got the mouse. Overall a great wireless mouse for notebook. Battery life i can't really comment on that since i just got it. The size of the mouse fits perfectly for small hands like mine.
Despite all the great features that other reviewers and I have mentioned there is still problem to this mouse in my case. Weird thing is, as long as i am using my mouse with the driver that came along, for some reasons the scroll wheel will not function well which only happens when i browse the net. Instead of a smooth scroll along the page, what i get is this slow and rough scroll which does not happen when i use words or going through folders. At first i thought it might be the problem of the setting but after a few uninstalltion i have realized it's a problem with the driver.( PS: I am running Windows XP professional on my laptop, same problem occured with one of the other reviewers who is running on MAC)
Therefore as long as i don't install the driver or don't have it on, the mouse works fine. Thus, without the driver i would not be able to use the zoom in/out bottoms and as well as the search buttom. At this point, i would probably say it's a rare case. Other than that, the mouse is definitely a must get for all notebook user.
