Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks (Black)Customer Review: One great mouse! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a full time laptop user. I use my laptop in the office on a docking station and on the road and at home just plugged into power. The Logitech VX Nano is my mouse of choice and has been for well over a year now.
What attracted me to this mouse in the first place is the miniature USB receiver/transmitter. This thing is tiny and allows me to leave it connected to the laptop full time. I have no idea why the miniature USB receiver/transmitter only comes with the smaller travel mouse but that was enough to sale me on the deal. There is no doubt about it, the mouse is smaller then a standard size, but I have been able to adapt and it works great for me. With my fingers resting on the left and right click buttons the back side of the mouse comes to the middle of my palm.
The miniature USB receiver/transmitter is unique to the mouse so if you loose it or break it you will end up buying a new one (that is what I had to do). If you don't want to risk breaking the miniature USB receiver/transmitter there is a built-in spot inside the battery compartment of the mouse to store it. Personally I like just leaving it in my laptop. It only sticks out the same width as a normal ball point (bic) pen.
The mouse itself is a great multi-button mouse with an incredible scroll wheel. Using the included software you are able to program the functions of all of the buttons and even control how they work with different applications. There is a button just below the scroll wheel and recently I have sent this to "Play/Pause" so I can just click it and it will pause my music.
Overall this is a great mouse. This is my second one so you know I am sold on the deal...
Customer Review: Great wireless Laser mouse Summary: 5 Stars
Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Unfortunately the first one purchased quit working after about a month. When I contacted Amazon they sent out a replacement absolutely free and with no questions asked. Also a free return mailing label for the defective one. (The replacement was sent with out them waiting for the arrival of the defective unit!)
The main reason for the purchase was because of the size of the dongle.
This mouse was for a laptop that did not have a touch pad. (I had checked to see that it did have a touch pad but for what ever reason it arrived without one.) I was concerned that the regular sized dongle of another wireless mouse I have might easily be bent or caught on something and damage the USB socket. The dongle for the Nano does protrude slightly but not enough that I worry about catching it on something and causing damage. Still on the first set of batteries but I do turn it off with the push button on the bottom when not being used for any length of time. The unit has a storage socket inside the mouse for the dongle so that you don't lose it while transporting or storing. The dongle is small enough that you could easily lose it if not kept in the USB socket of the computer. Some have said that the free wheeling mode of the wheel does not last long. I would rather have the click mode so even if it where to stop functioning it would not be an issue for me. Also it takes some getting used to that the wheel is not a push down middle click button. There is a separate button to use for middle clicking. Ie. tabbed browsing. I've gotten so used to this arraignment that my finger reaches for the button now when using another mouse! Try it you will like it!
Customer Review: Best wireless mouse for Notebooks Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased a new Toshiba notebook and I was in the market for a notebook mouse. I have tried two other mice but this is the best one of the 3. It has everything a full size wireless mouse in a smaller package.
PROS: The buttons and the left/right scroll are programmable. Small USB transceiver can be left installed when not in use. Power button on mouse. Storage in mouse for USB transceiver. USB extension cable to use with desktop PC. The laser quality is so good I don't use a mouse pad.
CONS: If you have large hands, you won't find this mouse comfortable.
I suggest you not bother installing the software from the CD provided because it is outdated. I tried that first and the mouse control settings did not get installed. I downloaded the latest software from the Logitech website and it works great with Vista Home Premium (32 bit OS).
The cursor movements and the scrolling are very smooth and the settings can also be adjusted using the Logitech software.
The USB transceiver is so tiny you can leave it installed in the USB port and you don't have to worry about knocking it off. You can also remove it and put it inside the mouse next to the battery. The mouse has a power button on the bottom so you can turn it off when not in use and it comes with USB extension cable to use with a desktop PC and a mesh carrying case.
I have small hands so the small size of the mouse is not a negative for me. Other notebook mice are the same size or even smaller.
The VX Nano is one of the more expensive wireless notebook mice but well worth it for all its features.
Customer Review: Best Mouse Out There Summary: 5 Stars
Many reviewers have already pointed out the strengths of this mouse. This is by far the best mouse I have ever used. I bought it about a year ago, together with a Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse (Black). I use one of them at home and the other one at the office.
I have relatively big hands, but this was never a problem with this mouse. Its ergonomics are almost perfect for me, as opposed to the MX, where the thumb "wheel" is placed in such an awkward location that prevents you from giving a good grip on the left side.
Above all, the MicroGear wheel is the best invention in the mice world since the laser replaced the ball.
What I would like to see changed to make it even better, is the introduction of a recharging cradle (like in the MX Rev.), but with using rechargeable AAA batteries instead of an internal proprietary battery. This way one can always put alkalines inside in case it runs out of juice. This arrangement can be found in Microsoft Explorer Mouse.
The micro receiver is really a "plug and forget" in my laptop. There is no interference between the Nano's receiver and the MX Rev's receiver when both are plugged in at the office. I have a docking station there, so the MX receiver is constantly plugged into one of its ports. The only problem I can imagine with this receiver is that once you discard your laptop, you can just forget to unplug it...
Customer Review: Could Not Ask For A Better Mouse! Would Rate HIGHER! 6 STARS! Summary: 5 Stars
This mouse has all the features one could ask for when looking for a mouse for their notebook. The Nano receiver is by far the best part. I myself have had more then one receiver break off. You can leave it plugged in without any worries! and if you want to take it with you, it fits into the bottom of the mouse, complaints about having to open the battery door, in order to store the receiver are ridiculous! If you aren't going to take it out of your computer, I would want a door on it, open holes just leave the possibility of dust, or losing it entirely! Also the comments on the mousewheels sense of 'cheapness' when switching between hyper scroll and precision, well, I don't notice anything 'cheap' about it, very durable. The search button is great, as are the forward and back buttons..i was a little apprehensive on the placement of them, but got use to them quickly. The Precision laser if the most sensitive one I've used to date(i have not bought a new mouse in years), but I was even able to use it straight on the cushions of my couch without any lack of precision! Its also very nice to have an on/off button located on the mouse to help save battery(lasts up to 6 months for two AAAs, which are included AND are Duracell! not POS batteries like most companies give out). The case it comes with is extremely nice. They did NOT cut any corners on any part of this product! The only thing that took me a while to get use to, was a smaller mouse, yet still very ergonomic! GREAT product by Logitech!!! 6 Stars if possible! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a portable mouse for their notebook computer.
