Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks (Black)

Customer Review: Great mouse, great buy, Logitech mouse is of excellent quality
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like the mouse I like how you can assign different functions for each of the buttons. I really like the hyper fast scrolling it has almost zero function and after a good hard push will scroll for bout a minute and a half. If you have vista the document flip button (right underneath the scroll wheel) is pretty cool. useful? depends how many applications you have open. The only negative thing is no middle button. Instead of middle button function when you click down the scroll wheel it changes from hyper fast scrolling to scrolling in clicks. I like the side scrolling function because through the software that comes with it you can set it to different functions. Mine is set to volume control. Left volume down right volume up. Love the forward and backward buttons that let you go through explorer windows easily and is also great for the internet. The laser is invisible unless you have all the lights off and look directly int the hole. Love the ergonomic feel. I would say this is a great travel mouse. It's small the nano receiver is awesome and will fit in the mouse (when the receiver is in the mouse it automatically turns off) not that it really needs to because it easily stays in your computer with out you noticing. Other things that come in the package is a case which is nice (just a simple zipper pocket contraption) and a usb extender. I imagine if you have a desktop computer you plug it into the back of your computer and you put the receiver in the other end so it can send signals. I thought it was useless at first because I have a laptop but it is pretty useful after all. This is an excellent mouse I'd say it's perfect except for no middle button (though you can set the document flip button to be the middle button) 5 out of 5. I would recommend some one who needs a nice travel mouse to get this.

Customer Review: smaller but wireless
Summary: 5 Stars

I own the default optical mice (The one shipped with most machine with the red light) and also the well known gamer's mouse Logitech MX 518 but this Logitech Nano version blurs my prospective on what I really need. I really like the Nano do to the fact it is wireless w/nickel sized doggle, almost transparant once it's in your usb port, and the buttons are also programaable like the gamer's mouse and it uses same software BTW. Most important is the scroll wheel which when clicked is a free flowing wheel plus side to side scroll! Meaning I can scroll with the flick of an index finger to the bottom or top on the longest document in seconds without the impeding nubs and also move the wheel side to side for horizontal scrolling something the gamer's mouse lacks. The laser action is better than the optical but less DPI e.g. 800 for nano versus 1600 dpi for gamer mouse, I can used both on most surfaces but the laser is more accurate for the less common ones. The Nano's pit fall for gamers is the lack of higher DPI and less button assignments. The biggest issue I have with Nano is the size within my hand. Yeah I know its suppose to be for laptops but the smaller size can cramp your hand if used mostly to regular mice. I still used both but when I cramp I switch to the normal size gamer's mouse. None the less I still like this Nano's idea since it does solves many issues I had before with mice. Smaller for laptops. Wireless and still supports laser which is better than the optical stuff regardless of what you heard. The Nano does NOT have as many programmable extra buttons but maybe you don't care? I really think you need to experience first hand, no pun, and discover if the Nano fits and then lasts in your hand for extended periods of time.

Customer Review: Close to perfection
Summary: 5 Stars

For those without built-in bluetooth on their notebook, this is as close to perfect as a mouse gets.

It is the only mouse currently available with a miniature receiver - hopefully large receivers will disappear soon. The mouse is comfortable and tracks well. The battery compartment is easy to open (this is definitely a welcome change - I'm always worried about breaking the plastic tabs of my LX7's battery compartment when I open it).

There is a little compartment for the receiver in the battery compartment if you decide to remove it from your notebook. With the receiver stored in the mouse, the mouse will not power up. There is also a power button to turn the mouse off when travelling, located at the bottom of the mouse.

There's a nice carry pouch, and a USB extension cable / stand for desktop use (to locate the receiver closer to the mouse).

The shape is symmetrical, other than the forward / back button placement, so left handers can use this mouse comfortably. The forward / back buttons is not ideal for left handed use, but it is usable.

It comes with two Duracell AAA battery - nice touch. None of that "batteries not included" stuff.

I don't use the wheel button on my other mice, so I don't miss the absence of it on this mouse. Pushing down on the wheel of this mouse switches between click scroll and "hyper" scroll mode (where it spins freely). You can reprogram the "search" button to wheel button if you wish.

Mac users need to download software from Logitech's website. But the mouse can be used without any drivers.

If there is a larger version of this mouse, I would buy it for regular desktop use. Another great product from Logitech.

Customer Review: Mouse Evolution
Summary: 5 Stars

A little background to frame my perspective. I purchased one about 6-9 months ago. I use it everyday on my work machine. I do graphic design work for websites, so I spend a lot of time online and in graphics applications. I have replaced my personal home computer mouse with this model as well.

HIGHLIGHT: The scroll wheel gives you the ability to zip through long pages or gently move up and down a page with subtle finger movements.

PROS:
Weight: not too heavy, glides effortlessly with my hand input.
Size: it's perfect for my medium sized hand and finger length.
Alternate buttons: most are customizable and positioned in natural feeling locations for your fingers.
Wireless Receiver: I'm not afraid of it breaking it's almost flush with the side of my computer.
Scroll Wheel: simply awesome. I like to keep it in glide mode for smooth scrolling. It also has a notched mode so each turn of the wheel is incrementally the same.
Click button resistance: is very light making clicking effortless. (This was the first criteria I search for before I found this mouse.)

CONS: The buttons aren't fully customizable, your choices for the scroll wheel button and the search button behind it are narrow. I would like to be able to change how the scroll wheel button behaves in different applications.

Overall, the scroll-wheel has redefined my expectations of how a scroll wheel should perform. This is a thoughtfully designed product designed for your hands natural movements. The reduction of hand work required by traditional mice has helped eliminate pain associated with repetitive stress. I no longer have hand cramps or shooting pains in my fingers or the back of my hand.

Customer Review: Best Notebook/Netbook mouse I've ever used
Summary: 5 Stars

After buying countless mice and trackball devices over the years, this mouse beats them all by a long margin. We own two of them and a colleague of mine bought one after trying mine out.

Pros:
- Never have to unplug the dongle... ever. If you do have to unplug it, it fits snuggly and securely inside the mouse. I take my work laptop home every night, and the dongle survived hundreds of ins and outs of my bag without a scratch. My wife's netbook has one, and you can barely notice it.
- Freely rotating metal wheel. It just feels solid, and enables you to scroll through several hundred rows in a spreadsheet within seconds. You can switch to regular mode by pushing on the wheel
- Design is top of the line. Looks like it was actually designed in the 21st century.
- Fits nicely in my laptop bag without taking a lot of space. The mouse is small, but I end up only touching it with three fingers and half an inch of my palm. The rest of my hand sits naturally on the desktop or mouse pad. Result is that I use the mouse all day (8+ hours) without pain.
- Programmable buttons. I programmed the wheel move to the left to be a middle mouse button. One little tumble to the left and it middle clicks. Easiest middle click I've used.

CONS:
- No middle mouse button unless you program it. As seen above, I resolved it quickly by programming the side movement of the wheel to be a middle mouse click. I was used with other mice to push on the wheel to middle click, but I learned to appreciate my new middle click quickly... now I miss it when using other mice.

Overall this is the best mice I've ever used and I have not seen/used another one that comes close.
