Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech V470 Bluetooth Cordless Laser Mouse (Blue)Customer Review: Logitech V470 Blue Tooth Mouse - Macbook Pro + Bootcamp Summary: 5 Stars
I was somewhat hesitant to buy this mouse at first since I have a macbook pro and I thought it would not work at its full potential since I was on boot camp - boy was I wrong. This mouse is excellent. I mainly use it on the windows side of my mac, and the reception is very strong, I've tested this mouse about 100ft away, and it works like a charm.
Another important note is the setpoint software that comes with the mouse. Many people say you just download it if you want to take advantage of the side scrolling - theres more to it than that. You gain much better control over the mouse settings and movement when you install this software. Another interesting aspect about the software is that you can assign certain actions to your mouse buttons. For instance, I use a lot of computer rendering programs, and instead of hitting "enter" and "esc", I assigned my side scrolls as "enter" and "esc".
In terms of bluetooth detection, it gets detected right away; the only time it takes 20 seconds to activate is when your computer searches for the mouse for the FIRST TIME.
On the mac side, it works really well too, it can be a little sensitive, but again, you can change the settings.
The ONLY CON that I have experienced is that the mouse lags for about a MILLISECOND second after keeping it idol.
Other than that, the battery life is quite strong, the reception is VERY strong, the ergonomics are well designed (the size is great, and I have monkey hands), and finally THE PRICE. You can go and buy the sexy sony vaio bluetooth mouse for more than double the price, but I actually think that this mouse is MUCH more comfortable in the hands than the vaio.
Customer Review: Blue happy Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for my new Win 7, 64bit Dell Studio lap top w/ Bluetooth technology. Loved the idea of using one less port as you would have to for a standard wireless. This has the come-to-expect, great Logitech design, easy install directions. It has an on-off switch to save battery life. A very clear marking for the two AA battery install (for those of us battery-install challenged :-) ) and a bright LED that turns RED when you need to replace the batteries. Also comes with a small travel pouch which keeps it from getting too scratched up when packing up your lap top.
I trust the longevity and Reliability of this product will be excellent and "5 star"...based on my history of using Logitech products, but since I just got it, I'm holding off on those. But I have a lot of trust in Logitech and always recommend their products.
The one thing Win 7 users MUST know is you MUST download the updated version of drivers from Logitech. What occurs when you run the Logitech disc is Windows kicks up a NON compatibility screen; if you allow Windows to check issue, it indicates you must go to Logitech...however, the link was inoperable. I went to Logitech directly. Look up the item "V470"; Here's the link:
[...]
Choose your operating system (Win 7) and 32 or 64 bit. Then scroll to bottom of page and click the Download button.
ODD NOTE: even though I got the compatibility issue window, WHEN I CHOSE to cancel vs. continue, THEN using only the disc, the mouse showed as fully installed and it DID work. STILL, download the new driver to be sure.
Hope this wasn't too confusing. It is a great product.
Customer Review: One of the best mice I've ever had Summary: 5 Stars
Not like this needs another review, but I bought this mouse (in blue) maybe 2 years ago at a best buy and it's the best mouse I've ever bought. Takes 2 AA batteries that last (I'm not kidding) close to a year. I rarely turn this mouse off and the batteries still last forever. Scroll-wheel is fast but not too fast, it does support scroll-left and scroll-right, although they can be disabled. Unlike other mice, it's not too easy to hit scroll-left and scroll-right by accident, and I love that too. Pads on the bottom of the mouse last forever for easy movement on any surface, and it picks up on almost ANY surface, even my leg (when in cramped spaces). It's been through countless drops, nicks, and tosses, and always comes out fine. Great construction.
I use it for gaming, Photoshop, and on-the-go every day as a commuting student. Works perfectly on Mac and PC. From turning the mouse "on" to connection to my computer (after the one-time initial setup) is roughly 2-3 seconds.
Pros: All of above
Cons: This is a small con, but the sides of the mouse have a thin layer of "comfort gel". Great for gripping and feels good on your hands, but it starts peeling off within the first few months. Underneath is smooth plastic and it feels fine, I don't know why they even needed the layer of gel in the first place. Also note: I HAVE had issues with the one-time initial setup on Windows 7 before. No idea what or why, something to do with it having the wrong drivers, but trying again usually fixes it.
Overall it may be a bit expensive for a blue-tooth mouse, but it is well, WELL worth it.
Customer Review: To the point (Mac User) Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to review this mouse even though I didn't purchase it from Amazon...
Facts:
- I use one of the previous generation MacBook Pro with Intel Processors.
- I bought this in replacement of the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse (Scroll Issue).
Review:
-The mouse is smaller than most mice, but I don't seem to notice anything when I use it, in fact it feels very natural.
- It looks very nice, and even though the buttons feel a little bit loose compared to the ones in the Might Mouse they work flawless.
- You actually end up having 6 buttons/actions... the left click, the right click, the scroll wheel movement, the scroll wheel button (pressed down) and the scroll wheel tilt left and tilt right, so I set the click, the right click, the vertical scroll, dashboard, exposé and open the home folder.
- At first, it was too responsive, and setting it with the default SW in the Mac, didn't fix it, so I look for the CD that came with it and installed Logitech Control Center, an application that comes in a package and puts itself in the System Preferences panel, which can be easily configured, and then I set the tracking speed and that was it!
- Mine doesn't go to sleep, I actually wouldn't know how to set that up, it responds everytime I move it, just as I move it, without jumping, just like the Mighty Mouse, but with two click buttons and a functional scroll wheel.
The only thing left to test, is to check if it doesn't just die as other reviewers said, but all the other reported problems haven't happened to me.
I love it!
Customer Review: Excellent function Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this mouse for about 4 months and am very satisfied with it. The mouse has a very effective smart power sensor to preserve battery life, and an on/off switch to prevent gradual discharge. When turned back on, the mouse pairs with the computer again in seconds, and is very responsive (probably not enough for gaming, but enough for a serious user). I have never had a problem pairing it, and because it is bluetooth it does not require a dongle when used with a bluetooth equipped laptop (my primary motivation for purchasing the mouse)
There are only two things I do not like about this mouse:
- The 'set point' software causes windows to reset your pointer speed on every restart. The simple solution is to install the drivers, but then disable set-point from running on startup (you don't need it anyway)
- The grip/ texture on the sides of the mouse wears off rather quickly if you're not careful. I will admit that this is partly my fault, as I do not place it in its protective bag before returning it to my laptop case, but within the first month part of it began to peel off. If you care about the appearance and/or textured grip, be sure to place it in its little case religiously. That said, the top surface has held up to all the bouncing around in my bag without even a scratch to show for it.
Overall the mouse is very durable, and in spite of some minor flaws, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cordless mouse for their bluetooth enabled computer.
