I am very happy with these little speakers.
I spent 6 months on the road last year and am about to do it again. I really miss having ambient music but could never find a decent pair of portable speakers. Powered speakers all seem too heavy, with wires and crap all over the place.
I got these speakers yesterday and I am really impressed. How often do you find a product which is well designed and thought out? They are light, easy to set up, attractive and robust looking, and most of all, have a great sound for their size. There is some audible bass, which distorts at higher volume, but which sounds fine at normal levels. This is probably done by simply increasing the diameter of the speaker, something that other portable speaker designers have not thought of yet. And, they are really portable!

I'm not an audiophile, so I can't comment on the sound quality, other than that it sounds as good as, or better than, my Sennheiser CX300-B.
Since this is a USB speaker, I was initially worried about getting it to work with Debian GNU/Linux, but it worked without much trouble (You probably need to use ALSA with this one, and some editing of .asoundrc to choose this speaker rather than the default one may be necessary---I hear Ubuntu does all this automatically, or through some graphical tool, though).
There is this little odd problem where the speaker isn't recognized by GNU/Linux the first time it is plugged into USB, but pulling it out and plugging it back in quickly seems to fix it (oh, and I have to go through this routine any time the speaker has been unplugged for a while).

Recently picked these up (unfortunately at a big box electronics dealer so could have saved myself $20 through Amazon) and I am very pleased with this purchase. As others have mentioned, the plug and play is a great feature and, in spite of what some have experienced, these speakers can be cranked up plenty loud (for me) with no distortion at all. The biggest setback is that the USB connections on my laptop are on the left and with the speaker connection (somewhat short)coming through the left speaker, the speakers can not be placed on either side of my laptop as I would have preferred; however, that can be easily resolved with a USB extension. If you are tired of the inferior speakers built into your laptop and are looking for a surprisingly rich sound, I would highly recommend these!Customer Review: Better than I expected!

My goal was to find a pair of USB speakers to replace the ones I have to plug in the wall. I only used the speakers when the volume was too low coming out of my monitor speakers when watching Hulu. These speakers have a good bass and I can make them very loud without having to plug them to the wall. XP recognized them right away when I plugged them in.
The only thing I noticed is that when I unplugged them while playing a video in VLC, the sound would disappear on VLC. It would not switch to the monitor speakers. I had to close VLC and reopen the movie to get the sound back. Doesn't bother me enough to give them a lower rating.
If you want loud USB speakers with great bass, these are excellent. They even come in a nice carry-on case. I'm very happy with them.

I have thousands of songs on my computer and I use it as a stereo just as much as anything else. I was looking for speakers that would amplify the sound when I was in another room and install easily. I did a lot of research and ultimately chose these because of other positive reviews, price, USB connectability, and the handy carrying case (which fits inside my laptop case nicely!). Like other reviewers have said, it's not concert quality sound, but that's not what I was after. I can now move about my apartment and still hear my tunes. These speakers are super easy to install--just plug & play with a minimum number of extra cords on my desk. I also like that the speakers themselves have buttons to mute, stop or skip to a new song. For the money spent, I'm very happy with this purchase.
