Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with SubwooferCustomer Review: These speakers were a great surprise!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these speakers to plug into my daughter's laptop so she can listen to music through something better than the small laptop speakers. From the minute I opened the box, I couldn't believe how good these speakers looked for only $23.00. First the packaging was very good with things well protected. I removed each part and was very impressed how good looking and solid things looked. Well, of course that stuff is important, but not if they don't sound any good. I plugged them into the laptop, put in a Def Leppard CD, and couldn't believe how good these things sound. The sattelite speakers are not much of an improvement over those that came with my Dell desktop, but it was the subwoofer that made these things shine. The sound is full and very clear. I still really can't believe I only paid $23.00 for them. There is a separate volume control for the subwoofer and the two satellite speakers.
If your wondering if these things are worth the price, do what I did. Buy them and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Customer Review: Superb sound, especially for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these after buying 5.1 speakers from a lesser-known online company and having to send them back after they wouldn't work (despite an external sound card). I bought these primarily for use with a laptop (replacing Logitech v20 usb speakers) and they blow me away! The sub and especially the speakers are rather small and unintimidating looking, but the sound they produce is anything but. I'm no audiophile (although I may be becoming one), but the sound is very crisp and clear, and the bass sounds boomy but not grating. They can get quite loud without any distortion, so much so I'm nervous I may be disturbing my dorm-mates. The little desk controller is nice too, as you can adjust the volume and plug in headphones and mic. The low price makes these all the better!
A final note: I'm using Windows Server 2008 (so also applies to Vista probably), and I needed to go into my sound configurations and enable bass boost (also be sure to increase boost level) and restart before the woofer sounded truly epic.
Customer Review: Are you Sure these Speakers only Cost $30 bucks??? Summary: 5 Stars
For sound this good you otta pay more. It has good bass that doesn't boom with a control knob to adust the amount of base, from none, to Boom... Boom... Boom. The volume control is seperate, off the speakers, with a plug-in for headphones and a microphone. They play pretty loud from such a small speaker with LITTLE distortion (again for a speaker of this cheap of a price). The contruction is pretty solid: the bass chassis is metal and heavy (for a good solid sound without ressonace and the cone generates little boom), but the tweeters could be metal instead of plastic; however, they are solid enough and sound mostly clear without much ressonance form the platic chassis. I bought them for cheap use in games and web browsing but found myself listening to mp3's with much enjoyment - good for a small room, but not a party, nor, are they for audiophiles, for that, you will need to pay much much more. I have always been impressed with LOGITECH's products and this one is no exception: 5 out of 5 starts at this price.
Customer Review: Great Speakers for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
For $25 these speakers really do the job. The two small speakers are bright and clear, however I went into iTunes and worked with the graphic equalizer to really tweak the sound. Then they really rock.
The woofer cube is quite small but amazingly provides a subtle "bottom end" to the sound. I only have the subwoofer tuned up about half way. The little "break out box" that can be used to control the volume is kinda neat.
The wiring does seem a little excessive but once I parked the sub woofer on the floor, it all made sense.
This unit won't provide the output and bass of a full sized stereo, but it's really quite fine for listening to music while your working on your PC (well, for me a mac mini).
So I'd highly recommend these at the $25 price point. Logitech makes more "heavy duty" speakers near the $100 mark if you need large stereo level sound, but if your looking for a tight contained sound for your PC, this is an excellent buy.
Customer Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I first found out about these speakers from one of my friends. Considering I was so used to my laptop's speakers, I was impressed with the sound quality he had with the speakers. Then he told me the price. $30! It's amazing sound quality for an amazingly low price. I'm not usually one to spend money on accessories like this, but the sound was so much better than I was used to I had to get them as soon as possible. And considering I'm usually listening to music, the speakers are one of the best things I've ever bought. The only problem I have with them, and it's minor, is that the wires are really long, so if you have a small amount of space the wires kind of "bundle" up and clutter your workspace a little bit. Between the speaker wires, my AC adapter for my laptop, the wire for my mouse, and the wire for my external hard drive, there's a lot to work with/around. Otherwise, though, these are amazing and perfect for anyone who listens to music or watches movies a lot on the computer.
