Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with SubwooferCustomer Review: I don't understand any complaints about these! Summary: 5 Stars
First of all let me say that I ordered these speakers around 4 pm on a Friday and received them by 11 am Saturday morning! (Paying extra to rush them of course)
They were very well packed. I ordered this unit in a hurry and did not look at the negative reviews until the evening after ordering. At that point I was wishing that I had spent more time reading all of the reviews and I was worried that I had made the wrong choice. I'm glad I had not read the reviews! This is a fantastic set and I can't believe that I got something that sounds this good for such a low price. I would have no problem recommending this set to anyone. For the money, this is a GREAT set. No one would believe that such sound could come from twenty some dollars!
UPDATE DECEMBER 2009: These speakers are holding up just like new and continue to amaze,...expecially for the price. We have also been running the television through them when we hook the computer up to tv. Sound is much better than tv speakers. I am buying several pairs for Christmas gifts. The price is right! I still cannot understand the bad reviews here. Could it be that somehow people are hooking the system up wrong? I know that when we get the cables in the wrong place on the computer, the sound is raspy and weak, but we still get sound.
Customer Review: These are great for your small LCD TV Summary: 5 Stars
Like other reviewers I bought the Logitech S220 Speaker System for my new 24" LCD HD TV. It has a great HD picture but a weak speaker system. This it as perfect mini speaker system with a sub woofer and all for around $23.00. I simply plugged the headphone cord from the speaker system in to the headphone jack on the back of the TV. If by chance your TV does not have a headphone jack simply buy a (2 x RCS male / 1 x3.5mm Stereo Y cable 6" jack) for a couple of dollars then plug the headphone connection from the speakers in to the single jack on the cable and then plug the 2 RDA jacks in to the RCS speaker connections on your TV. Then plug in the sub woofer and be ready to be amazed. The sound is great for music from my Satellite TV service with XM stations and for HD TV moves and all TV program as well. There is an inline volume control for the speakers and a bass knob on the sub woofer and once you set these the TV remote controls the volume as normal. So search out your best deal on the small LCD HD TV and don't worry about the sound quality of the small built in speakers and add the Logitech S220 Speaker System. You will love the difference they makeLogitech S220 2.1 Speaker System (Black)
Customer Review: One more guy saying these are great speakers Summary: 5 Stars
Like the title says, these are great speakers given their absurdly low price. Like most multimedia speakers, the Logitech S220 2.1 speakers are a little on the tinny side and miss a lot of richness that one may expect from some truly hi-fi speakers. I would have raved more about these had I not found the Altec Lansing BXR1220 2.0 Speaker System. Although the Logitechs provide good power for the money, they do not perform as well across the spectrum of frequencies that the Altec Lansings do and so the Altec Lansings sound better, albeit the Altecs can't get as loud.
I have had these Logitechs for about a year and they still perform well and sound good enough for MP3 music. They hold up nicely, fill a medium sized room (18' x 18' or 6 meter x 6 meter) with ease (for normal listening), and have a fairly convenient volume knob. Although I think a system where the volume knob is not inline with the tweeters and had an easier on/off switch would be much better. All told, you can't go wrong with the Logitech S220 2.1 speakers for $30.00, but you can do better in terms of sound quality with the Altec Lansing BXR1220 2.0 speakers if you do not have huge volume requirements.
Customer Review: Sound quality better than expected... Summary: 5 Stars
When I bought these speakers, I expected poor bass and average overall sound quality and construction. What I got surprised me. The sound quality far exceeded what I expected. I use these speakers with an iPod dock, so I love the little control pod. I had a lot of fun switching the plugs for my old speakers and these ones and listening to the difference, and also had fun boosting the bass, putting my hand of the hole at the front of the subwoofer, and feeling the air blowing out. The satellite speakers can unplug from the sub. The build quality was overall good, with a bit of a cheap plastic feel on the control pod, but nothing that interferes with performance. It should be noted that there is a wire that comes out of the back of the sub, goes to the control pod, and then out of the control pod to the computer connectors. This isn't a bad thing, it just caused some troubles for me and the way I wanted the speakers positioned. It should be fine for those who are actually using these with a computer. The wires to the sub and to the connectors are about 3 feet on either side of the control pod. Overall, these may be some of the best speakers in this price range. Buy a pair and hear the difference.
Customer Review: Quality in a small package Summary: 5 Stars
Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer is an excellent buy. I have used mine in my tiny office in our utility room and when cranked up, the speakers boom. It shows exceptional quality in a low priced system with subwoofer. Of course, one can only guess how well they might perform in a large room, but for my uses, it is a super system in a small package. I was looking for something inexpensive to throw together with my Apple laptop and read the high ratings folks are giving these speakers. I say well deserved. I was quite surprised at the power they appear to generate when I tested them using different genres of music (classical, bluegrass, alternative rock). They seem to possess higher highs and lower lows than I would have expected. They were easy to set up and feature a fairly long cord between speakers--at least longer than what I've experienced with similar small speaker systems used for computers. It's made speaker placement on my desktop easy. However, they are light and easily tip when bumped. So, with the exception of the subwoofer that is a solid, heavy piece, I used double sided, padded tape to hold them in position. Sometimes these guys run 24 hours a day at my house.
