Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech S120 2.0 Multimedia SpeakersCustomer Review: Really pretty good Summary: 5 Stars
This little speaker is not going to rock the audiophile world, but for the $8 or so I paid for it, it does a very decent job. Hook up is trivial - the power cord goes into an outlet, the green plug goes into your computer's audio out jack. Set the volume, and done. They get as loud as you would want a speaker near you to get, and the frequency range is respectable for a speaker of this size. (No, there's no low bass, and when the specs promise 50Hz they aren't being very serious. If you want decent bass extension you're in the wrong price range). The considerable step up in sound quality and volume, from most laptop embedded speakers, is worth this price. Kudos to Logitech for building a simple, working piece of gear with no frills and fair performance, for under $9.
Customer Review: $12 = A great set of "Work" speakers Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these for the office. My PC at work has no speakers and I didn't want to pay a ton to hear when I received a new email. These hit the spot perfectly. The best part is the fact that the speakers have a headphone jack near the volume knob so I don't have to reach around to the back of the PC if I need to keep quiet.
I always recommend this set to my coworkers as their standard black appearance fits nicely onto any desk and the orange light clearly indicates when they're on. Again a huge plus to have the headphone jack built in too.
Don't expect thumping bass or distortion free loud music blasting from these speakers. Do expect a solid set of work speakers that'll play the occasional YouTube video or podcast quite nicely.
Customer Review: For the price, none better. Summary: 5 Stars
These speakers are great, mainly for the following scenarios.
1. Laptop speaker replacement. That's why I bought it for. Factory speakers just weren't loud enough and these are significantly louder.
2. Replace monitor speakers. Read above.
3. Work place speakers. Small enough to be non-invasive.
The sound quality is fine and I found it's better if you turn down Windows volume to about 50% and use the vol. knob on the speakers as they play cleaner, in my experience. They won't blow you away but for the price/size it'd be silly to expect too much. Not much bass but they do fine with mids/highs, again, if you have an eq, turn down the bass for less distortion. Great little speakers and for the price you won't do better.
Customer Review: Great Speakers!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have one of those HP monitors with the built-in speakers that are in the rear of the montior (stupid design). Anyhoo, the sound was always so low, that we could barely hear anything. I got these speakers hoping they would help.
They are the best!.... I was worried that I would have to buy something else after trying these because they're so cheap, but the sound is very satisfying, loud and clear.
The screen/cover has popped out a couple of times, because my kids have knocked them over a bunch of times. But they pop right back into place.
So far (after 5 months in the family room with my 3 kids), they are excellent for sound quality and very durable.
I HIGHLY recommend these speakers.
Customer Review: Just what I wanted. Excellent bargain. Summary: 5 Stars
Specially liked: Powered directly from 110 v household outlet (no transformer power supply). Volume much greater than computer attached speakers. Unobtrusive, neat. Good value for the money.
Neutral about: Frequency response about the same as from the computer attached speakers.
Room for improvement: The speaker with the power on/off/volume control (right side) is light weight; the power transformer located at the bottom of the other speaker (left side) is heavier. Right speaker tips easily and is difficult to use power switch and maintain its balance. (I have used some double-stick tape on the base to hold it in place.) The left speaker, which is never touched, is heavier and stays in place fine.
