Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech S120 2.0 Multimedia Speakers

Customer Review: Best under 15
Summary: 5 Stars

First off, to the people that have had problems, Call Logitech. They have top notch customer service. These are warrantied for 3 years. Please remember that before you call them worthless. Give Logitech a chance to rectify the problems.

Ok, here is the deal.....these speakers are what they are. A great sounding laptop speaker for under 15 bucks. Are they Bose? No, they are Logitech, which make an affordable product for the average user. I have been using Logitech products forever and I find they are top notch in the computer peripheal department. I purchase their products with the assurance that if there is an issue, it will be rectified. I have only had to contact them 2 seperate times. That is over 12 years and numerous purchases. Both issues were taken care of quickly and painlessly!

If I have a choice between Logitech or another brand within the same price range, I will most likely pick Logitech.

These speakers replaced a crappy set of nonname speakers. It is for a laptop and we use this for basic things. If you are looking for speakers that play music really loud, or if you are an audiophile, this is not the size speaker you need. You need to pay a little more to get a little more.

All, in all, these are awesome, functional, light, and server their purpose for a miniscule amount of money~!

Customer Review: Ideal Simple PC Speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a serious headphone based listening rig setup on my PC (dedicated headphone amp, DAC, Sennheiser HD 800), and my home theater system is also attached to my PC so I can fill the adjacent room with music. That being the case I was looking for a simple, to the point, small footprint solution for when I just wanted to sit down and watch a video or listen to a podcast without going through the hassle of using my more audiophile oriented equipment.

The S120's fit the bill perfectly. I was admittedly very torn between these speakers at the S220's, which include a sub-woofer and are likely much better speakers all around. However, in my particular scenario any serious listening I plan on doing won't be done on the S120's, which makes the added bulk and expense of the S220's just a waste. For what they are, the S120's sound remarkably good; keep in mind that we're talking about a $10 pair of speakers.

I would say that if music playback is not your primary concern, but desk space and cost are, the S120's are likely all you'll ever need. If you're like me and have other high-quality systems setup for music playback and don't want the added redundancy of a 2.1 system, these are definitely for you. If you're planning on using these as a primary music listening device, you might want to aim a little higher and get the S220's.

Customer Review: Best under $15 speakers around.
Summary: 5 Stars

For the little $ paid, You can't beat these speakers. They have superior crisp sound quality, A good balance of Bass and Treble in a small package. They only stand around 6 and 1/2" high. I had a pair $20 of Radio Shack CyberAcoustics speakers that had a lot of treble but very little Bass. A common problem with speakers this size. These Logitechs were half the price and twice as good! I could tell the difference when playing music and video games. The Logitech performed very well.

The grill is metal so there is no cover fabric to stain or tear. The transformer is built into one speaker so only a standard 2 prong cord needs to be plugged into an outlet. There's no bulky transformer to hog your powerstrip!

(After installing, If the volume is too low on the speakers, remember to go to the Sounds setting on your PC Control Panel and boost up the main Volume bar there)

I must add that I noticed the Left speaker (The heavier one without the volume knob) has less sound quality than the right. Try shifting the balance to each speaker to test yours. I exchanged mine for another pair and it had the same problem but to a lesser degree. I figured for $10 it wasn't a big deal. Maybe it's caused by the transformer built into the Left speaker? The two speakers still blend well and it's still a great deal.

Customer Review: Nice for the price. Just what I need to hear movies on the laptop.
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow! I ordered this yesterday, and received it today!

On my laptop the built-in speakers' volume drops dramatically while playing movie DVDs and Netflix Instant Play movies, even at maximum volume setting, and none of the computer's sound settings or "environment enhancements" software work well, so I had to stay in front of the computer to watch them. I don't like to sit like a couch potato during movies, but prefer to wash dishes, exercise, do crafts, etc. - but couldn't hear the movies that way.

I just received these Logitech speakers a few minutes ago, and all you have to do is plug them in and turn on the volume. Now I can hear movies fine with these speakers, and I'm no longer stuck in front of the computer to do so. These are just perfect for my needs, and the price was great. Even though the shipping cost was high relative to the cost of the speakers (about 60%), it was worth it for me to be able to hear the movies from anywhere in the room, and over the sound of running water while doing dishes, or while cooking...

Because I've only had these for a few minutes, I cannot attest to their durability or longevity, but so far they are fantastic for the cost.

I'm currently watching a documentary about jazz music, and the narrators' voices are clear, and the music sounds fine.

Customer Review: Great choice for basic speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

These speakers are a handy little pair -- they put out decent quality of sound for their size and price, and the volume capacity is excellent for a one bedroom apartment. (You probably couldn't DJ any sweet rave parties with them, but I've yet to need to crank them up all the way, even for a few of my weirdly quiet DVDs, so I'd say they're plenty loud. They definitely beat out my in-laptop speakers, several times over.)

The bass isn't the most clearly articulated sound in the world; I haven't had any problems with fuzziness or crackling, or really anything that would distract from tv/video/movie viewing, but there's definitely a certain level of crispness that they don't achieve. If you're a really picky audiophile, though, you're probably not going to be buying $15 speakers, and for your basic "I want to be able to listen to things with a decent sound quality at a reasonably high volume" needs, they're great.

Also: if you knock them off of a table two days after you get them and they hit a wood floor and the front metal grill pops off, you can just snap the grill back in place, and they still work perfectly well. At least, in my experience.
