Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Rumblepad 2 Vibration Feedback GamepadCustomer Review: Logitech sure did it right with this one... Summary: 5 Stars
Ok, first off, I'll admit that I've only had this pad for a few days now, so there hasn't really been a chance for anything to go wrong. But from what I've seen, this is one great pad. Everything is customizable, even with games that aren't made for use with gamepads. I don't know what the person who said it didn't work with Madden '05 is talking about. Even if your x/y axes ARE switched, the included software allows you to interchange the axes, so you can swap x/y back, or map it to mouse axes, or even assign a different function to each direction of the stick if you so choose. Plus you can adjust sensitivity, dead zone, and range on the sticks for maximum control in any game. So far I've tried it with Max Payne 1 and 2, Aliens vs. Predator 2 (none of which are really designed for gamepad use, with the possible exception of AVP2, which has joystick functions... and they're not even needed when you use the gamepad software), and old school Grand Theft Auto 1. With just a few minutes programming buttons to different game functions until I find the layout I like, it works beautifully with everything. I haven't had a chance to really test the force feedback, but the included tests feel very nice. Bottom line: Buy this controller. You won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: The only game controller you will ever need Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this controller for about six years. This is a Sony PS2 copy with the X, triangle, etc buttons replaced by numbers.
It's taken being thrown, water, soda, food, buttons being pressed too hard, being ripped out of the usb port, at least a billion button presses.
It's made out of thick, invincible plastic which will never break no matter how hard you throw it.
The thing still runs like the day I bought it, which was for $20. Never have to configure the controller through control panel.
Runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, Linux Kernel 2.6+ with no drivers or installation.
Logitech has a driver available for windows if you want to bind the buttons to a keyboard button.
The only real problem is that the rumble feature is wasted since almost no game works with it. A few EA games like Need for speed have got it to work but most games won't work with it or don't even have the feature, or just rumble the entire time which isn't the same.
If you're in the market for a controller, buy this. Whether you care about it or not, it will never quit on you.
Customer Review: Great product for a nice price Summary: 5 Stars
I've held off reviewing this controller to see how it would withstand gaming wear and tear, and I am here to happily report that this controller has given me ZERO trouble since I received it in October of 2005. I have successfully played NBA Live 06, MVP Baseball 2005, Far Cry, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and various other PC gaming titles with this controller.
The set up is beyond simple...all you have to do is take it out of the box, plug it in to your USB drive, and go through a quick and painless setup. I was gaming less than 5 minutes after opening the UPS box. The controls are very responsive, and I haven't had any issues such as buttons sticking, control sticks breaking, or anything. The controller still looks brand new after more than a year's use.
I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to move on from a keyboard, but still keep PC gaming simple. I've found gaming on the computer to be much more enjoyable than a console, and that is mostly because of this controller.
Customer Review: An excellent gamepad Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this gamepad for playing NFS Most Wanted and EA Sports games and I have been thoroughly satisified with its responsiveness and performance. I found the in-game support for the vibration feedback a bit disappointing in both NFS Most Wanted (rumble only occurs when driving off-road + isn't triggered by collisions unless they are very strong...even in that case the rumble feeback is feeble) and FIFA World Cup 06 (rumble only caused if the ball hits the goal posts or crossbar - this behaviour too is fairly inconsistent). In both cases, however, the fault seems to be in the implementation of the vibration feedback by the game designers rather than a flaw in the design of the gamepad.
Another annoyance I had was that the gamepad would not be detected by NFS MW if I had my Microsoft Sidewinder FF2 Joystick plugged in. Again, this seems like an issue in the way the game handles multiple gaming control devices.
As far as the in game control the device offers, I have absolutely no complaints!
Customer Review: Solid gamepad, good feel, easy to program; D-pad only OK. Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I'm not a hard-core gamer. In dusting off some of my older games though, it became apparent I needed a gamepad. I liked the feel of the Logitech best. The supplied software didn't have profiles for some of my games, but most are easily downloaded from their website. Oddly, Doom & Halo profiles weren't there, but Quake was.
UPDATE: Halo supports the gamepad, so the profile can be modified there. While playing Halo the D-pad seems overly sensitive. I went back to using mouse & keyboard.
UPDATE #2: The more I use it the less I like the d-pad. It seems too small, too sensitive, and too slippery. Unfortunately I can't go back and knock a star or two off of my initial rating.
The Amazon text says there are 10 programable buttons but there are actually 12. The two analog joysticks are buttons as well.
I've tried it with Combat Flight Simulator 3 and the vibration feature is kinda cool, but prefer a good joystick over a gamepad for flight sims.
