Customer Review: Excellent Webcam for Mac

I looked at a good number of webcams, and read a LOT of reviews before settling on this one. In a word, it's Great! Don't confuse the older Windows model if you're looking to run it on a Mac. This model is completely compatible and is plug and play. I opened the box, plugged it in the USB port, set it on my monitor and voila! I had video. iChat and Skype recognized it immediately.
I've used it flawlessly with Skype video calls and the picture quality and audio quality are outstanding. The lens provides a wide angle shot so I don't have try to stay exactly in front of the webcam. The audio is sensitive enough that I can speak in a normal voice and be heard clearly. I've also used it on Adobe's ConnectNow webinar program doing a video conference with outstanding results.
It may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want a webcam that just works, like your Mac just works, this is for you.

Amazingly good quality. I have 3 MBPs and MB and recently built a hackintosh. This camera was for the hackintosh so I could do video chat with my friends around the world without having to bring in another of my computers. When I got the camera, I was a little confused by how to put it on my monitor but that was resolved quickly. When my friend in China saw my skype camera from it she was amazed by how good the quality was compared to any of my other computers. It performs in low light much better than the MBP cameras and the autofocus is nice and works even in low light. The color accuracy is good even if you are just using the monitor as lighting. In fact I have even had occasionally taken the camera off my hackintosh and put it on my unibody MBP 15" so that I don't get made as much fun of for washed out skin colors. I hesitated to pay this much money for a web cam, but I'm glad that I did.Customer Review: no regrets

I have a Mac Pro with no built-in camera so I was sorely lacking in the world of Skype and iChat etc. The Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro was a little pricier than other models but since I own and operate a small professional recording studio I wanted to have a camera with a decent mic and reasonable video quality. This unit delivers what I need. Great low-light ability. A no brainer to install. Easy to mount on top of my monitor. However, if you're expecting smooth video capabilities with no action blur or "lag", get a video camera. My only gripe is inherent to this type of product IMHO. If you want to record yourself in action, i.e playing guitar, there will be a slight delay between the sound and the video. This is still a "web cam" and will look like it, only better. If you need an easy to install, Mac compatible high quality web cam this will do the job.Customer Review: Works great!

I was very impressed with the "Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for the Mac". Its auto focus capability and its sensitivity to low light conditions are great. The color looks good also and the microphone works well. No additional software was required. It is "plug and play". I use it for iChat video on both my Macs.
a. 1.3-yr old Mac Pro (2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xenon procesor) using Mac OS X version 10.5.6.
b. 6-yr old Mac laptop (PowerBook G4 with 876 MHz processor) using system version 10.4.11. This old laptop has only USB 1.0 (i.e. does not have the much faster USB 2.0) but the camera frame rate is still very good and works better than the old firewire i-Bot camera I was using.

Use it with my macbook pro instead of built-in i-sight.
Sensitivity:
Very good: when isight shows black screen, vision pro shows dark but legible and sharp picture. No visible noise either.
White balance:
Tends to be yellowish under low light condition; othewise accurate.
Compatibility and drivers:
No CD included :) just plug and play. All features implemented in hardware, unlike Pro9000.
Autofocus:
Focuses in about 1-2 second max most of the time. very precise.
Overall:
Much better than isight.
Would buy again? Definately plan to order two more for parents.
