Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac (Black)Customer Review: Logitech Webcam & Vid are awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a WebCam system for the Mac computers in our business so that I could speak face to face with my staff from a remote location. We've now purchased 7 of these beauties for all our Mac computers. The image they produce is superb --- very hi-res. The image is bright, clear, and sharp. The Macs have the built-in iSight camera, but the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac's provide superior images. But the WebCam is only part of the reason I chose this option. I also wanted to have access the Logitech Vid video streaming service. Vid is Logitech's service for easily doing a simple web chat (Vid is free if you own a Logitech webcam). I know there are more sophisticated "business" web chat / conferencing software options on the market. But they're no good if they're too technical for my staff to quickly access and use easily. Logitech Vid takes SIMPLE to a whole new level. You simply press a button and you're in a web chat with the person in your "friend" list. The Vid service streams excellent image quality matched with the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro. The QuickCam Vision Pro produces very satisfactory image and sound quality for our companies needs. I couldn't be happier with this simple and highly efficient system for web chat communication for our company!
Customer Review: The best for Mac or XP alike Summary: 5 Stars
I've purchased seven of these cameras, 5 for a team at work, 1 use at home, and 1 for my mother's Mac Mini.
Most of the cameras are on XP machines. As mentioned elsewhere these cameras install without device drivers on XP SP2 or later. Unlike the superficially similar but less expensive QuickCam Pro 9000 they do light balance and focus through camera hardware. That means we don't have to deal with flaky device drivers (rarely done well for OS X), and there's less demand on the CPU to manage the device.
Not to mention that our top notch engineers are very bad about installing s/w, so a driver free device is a real plus. Also, we can easily move it between machines.
I've compared the video quality of this camera to the pinhole webcam that comes standard on modern Macs. It's light years better. There's really no comparison. It's better in low light, it's better at focus, it's higher resolution, there's far less image noise, etc.
The built-in microphone is superb. We get better sound quality using Google Video Chat and this device than we get with high end conference phones.
I'm a hard consumer to please, but I am very pleased with this camera.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: An excellent best webcam for any system Summary: 5 Stars
I grabbed it for the Mac Mini plugged on my TV, but as it has been said in a different review, since it just works though the UVC standards it works out-of-the box on any recent system (including Windows and Linux).
I was aware than the applications I'm using (Skype, Photobooth) don't use the full resolution, but that's fine for me. Photobooth is just a toy and Skype needs to stream its video in real time, the bandwidth wouldn't be enough at HD.
Compared to my old webcam that required the Open Source macam drivers for a dumbed down experience (only 5 fps), it's a great improvement:
* Very smooth video (seems to be 30fps or close)
* Wide angle (the full room is visible)
* Auto-lighting works much better than the older webcam
On the top of that, the look is very classy and discrete on the top of my black TV. I couldn't ask for more!
Seriously, even if I was buying a webcam for Windows I would have chosen it over the Pro 9000, because I believe having AF and auto-lighting done in hardware and not requiring any driver is worth paying $30 more.
Customer Review: review of logitech quickcam pro for mac Summary: 5 Stars
i found this product to be exactly what i wanted something new enough but not too new to use on skype at this point. i have a mini mac running snow leopard 10.6.6 it literally just plugs into a usb port on my mac and starts working with quicktime or skype once you set up the account first. but yeah you can use quicktime and just attach your little videos to emails which will be huge file size because its video, but it works great. the universal clamp works pretty good too yet i taped mine to the back of the monitor just with clear box tape. the only reason i did this is because i'm turning my monitor 180 degrees a lot to watch movies so i did not want the webcam to fall. but if your not doing that the arm works just fine on top of my flat panel hanspree hdmi monitor. the price and the ease alone is worth the purchase. don't know about the pc world of it but probably works well if you get the one made for the pc specifically. my images look clear and I can add a little light in my room or go without it works good either way. mic works fine, so great job logitech on this little webcam
good day
Customer Review: would buy again and again Summary: 5 Stars
Pros:
The mic in this is awesome. It can catch the voice of a person at the other end of the living room very clearly. This means everyone can take part in the conversation without having to gather around the computer.
That said the picture quality is unbeatable. First reaction of everyone I called so far on Skype was 'your picture is very clear today.' If you have a mac then don't buy the Logitech 9000 to save $20.Instead buy this one. The hardware auto focus on this thing works extremely well. If you buy the 9000 you would be stuck without a way to focus (there is no software included to do that) You will end up having to spend that $20 on third party software to get it to focus, which may or may not work well)
Cons: None
Other thoughts: Could have included some kind of cover to protect this from dust. Web Cam lenses accumulate dust over time and if not cleaned the proper way can be destroyed. I'm thinking about making one myself.
