Customer Review: Clear picture all the time

I have owned 4 webcams: from those early B&W webcams (also Logitech btw) to this new Quickcam Pro 5000.
My biggest problem with all of the others: the quality of the picture in low light conditions; i.e. in the evening when your sitting behind the PC.
The Quickcam Pro 5000 delivers a clear picture all the time. Dark or light; it is by far the best I have owned so far. Even when I am just lit by the light from my (LCD) PC screen it is working! It has good other options, like face-tracking software and digital zoom & tilt.
Bottomline: this cam is the best I have owned so far (Jan. 2007) and worth every penny. It works with all major brands of Webcam VOIP software (like Skype) and online communities like Stickam.
Note: I own the latest version that says "Rightlight 2" technology. The older one just say "Rightlight" and are sometimes offered for lower prices. Beware: it might be the older product then.

when the product arrived last week Aug'06. Installation was easy as i followed instructions. After it asked for a restart which I did, thereafter no problems with installation.
The base of the camera is flexible so you can adjust to your liking. So far, the video feed has been very clear. I use it mostly with MSN messnger..and my friends continue to comment how how clear and crisp the image is. One of my friend has dailup but she can see my movements and expressions clearly. I look fwd to her gettin dsl to see further improvements.
I have a 5.1 digi cam, so pics didn't fascinate me, but i will admit they looked decent anyway.
the face trackin works well, keeps adjusting as you move ur head, also zooming in and out!
My room is not the best lit, but the camera's low light technology handles that superbly. My features are very distinguishable.
I would recommend this cam to anyone!

I ordered three of these for Christmas, but found out that the people I was going to give two of them to already had webcams.
The one I kept worked fine. It works like it should -- no problems, no installation hassles and the light adjustment software works well. The microphone works OK too, you don't have to shout to make yourself heard. I use the webcam on an XP system with Yahoo messenger as the communication software. The webcam picture will occasionally freeze but the voice does not, and the picture unfreezes after a while.
The two returns were accepted by Amazon without problems. I had to pay shipping because it wasn't Amazon's fault that the webcams were returned, but this wasn't out of line. They printed out a pre-paid return shipping label and a return slip, so I just put the slip in the box and the label on the box and sent it back. The return was really hassle free.

This camera does what you want it to do. It does great video and audio. I use the camera for overseas video calls and the other party complements me on how good it works. The audio is also above average because of the built in echo cancelling (not found on cheap cameras). I have also used the included headset and mic and this also works quite well.
The video is quite good because of it ability to work in all light conditions (low to bright) and adjusts automatically.
I have other PC cameras and most are very inexpensive and I got what I paid for. While they do work, the picture tends to be quite poor in most light conditions. I would compare this Pro 5000 camera to an inexpensive camera as either watching s-video as to watching a snowy picture with rabbit ears on your TV. This is especially true in low light conditions.
I use this mostly with "skype".

I was pretty desperate for a good webcam and was willing to pay alittle extra for good quality stuff. I was so dissapointed that the intel webcams were no longer being manufactured(I still feel they were the best), so I had to hunt for another manufacturer. I tried the Pro4000 which I like but it was too pricey, so I returned that because I already knew by then that the pro5000 was coming out. I had to return the first pro5000 since it was defective(a thick horizontal black line across the image), but Amazon replaced it with a good one and I've never been happier. I have been using this webcam for 5 months now and I love it. The image quality is much superior than some of the other logitech and creative webcams that I have tried. The mic quality is too goo as well. I can walk all over the house and people can still here me as if it were a speakerfone. All in all a good buy.
