Customer Review: Great Camera for Skype Audio Video Chats

Quality Product. For some time, we have been asking our kids to get either DSL or internet cable service for their PC, then a camera so we could have Audio Video Chats as they live 500 miles from us. With my Mac friends, using iChat, we have A/V chats with friends across town, and around the world. Finally, after they installed a DSL line, we were able to send them this camera from Amazon. This is a quality camera with a built-in mic, which make an easy USB connection.
A friend tells me the AOL AIM account works as well as Skype, and would allow me to use my iChat; however, I like Skype, which is Free computer to computer, and easy to set-up.
Now that my son and daughter-in-law have enjoyed A/V chats, Sarah is talking a new computer and new Logitech camera to her mom in Indlps so they, too, can enjoy seeing and talking with each other.

This is a great webcam. The video is clear and colorful and the price is reasonable. I use it with Skype everyday and it and the built-in microphone work very well. The controls are pretty easy to use and allow you to adjust the brightness or account for backlighting with simple slider controls if the camera's automatic settings are not quite right under unusual situations. A higher quality camera will not give an improved image because the internet connection often will not support better resolution - so, don't waste your money on more pixels unless you are just going to record video of yourself to you computer. This is an excellent value choice for a webcam to use to communicate over the internet.Customer Review: Easy to install, use, and fun for families!

After a couple glitches initially, of figuring out how to get the audio working, we had our camera completely installed and ready to go. We use AOL Instant Messenger with it and it works great. So easy to send the video chat invite. This was a gift to us from my parents, mainly so they can see their grandkids! We live all the way across the country, so this is a fabulous way to stay connected. My brother and his wife also have one, so I can see them and my nephew as well. Our kids think being able to see Grandma and Grandpa while they chat is the coolest thing. I would definitely recommend this web cam to anyone, and I hope to send one to my Mother-in-law soon!Customer Review: Great Webcam

Not much else to say. Great webcam, excellent resolution, great microphone, very adaptable to any type of monitor or surface, and great sound management. If I had to say anything for an improvement, I would add more options for when you are traveling in other countries. I visited Brazil and I had some issues with the video transmissions. I got into the settings and the Anti-Flicker feature only had options for North America 60HZ, Europe 50 Hz, and Off. What???? What about the rest of the world??? The QuickCam Communicate STX is a great mid-level web camera. I have used it often since I purchased it and it hasn't failed me yet. Installing it on your computer is very easy with the included CD. The resolution is great, the features are amazing, more so than I had previously thought, and it does take decent-quality pictures for a web camera. This is a great entry purchase; it has more features then a basic web camera and provides good bang for your buck. Five stars for sure!
