Camera works well and clips on top of my flatscreen HP monitor fine. Have only used it with Yahoo Messenger 9 which severely limits the quality of the video conference to very slow ultra jerky frames per second and very low quality despite the fact that I have 20MB/second internet service, so it appears Yahoo is limiting bandwidth usage for video conferencing to the point its just a jerky stop motion looking video. So the 1.3 megapixel 30FPS is overkill if you plan on using it only with Yahoo. I can't speak for other chat tools.
The major difference between this camera and the non-deluxe version I upgraded from is the Right Light 2 and the Fun Masks & Avatars. I can't tell a bit of difference between RightLight 1 from my first camera and RightLight 2 they both auto adjust contrast and other video settings based on ambient lighting and do a so-so job at that. The FunMasks are cute for about 20 minutes but get annoying to the people on the other side rather quick. The avatars are very CPU intensive and don't really match your mouth and facial expressions well at all. I don't think these two features really qualify for a $30 more expensive camera versus the regular QuickCam Communicate. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have stayed with the cheaper non-Deluxe model.

I bought this camera for two relatives that live across the country. We all have young children and I thought this would be a good way to stay in touch. The kids love it and I like this a lot better than plain phone calls. We are currently using the Skype service. The QuickCam was easily installed and works well. (We had a minor issue with MS Vista and the Logitech supplied software that was later resolved by uninstalling the Logitech software.) The built-in microphone is a great feature compared to using a headset. Image quality is okay. Logitech has a few units with the Carl Zeiss lens that I will highly recommend, however they are more expensive. If image quality is important, purchase the units with better optics. Overall the QuickCam Comm Deluxe does the job I purchased it for and I am satisfied with their performance.Customer Review: Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe Webcam

The Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe Webcam was pretty easy to figure out and install. The software loaded fast and easy and the webcam sits on my flatscreen monitor securely. The camera picture quality and sound are great and I use it with Skype to talk with people overseas. I am not sure if it is a problem with Skype or the software, but I cannot make video calls to people if I want to use the camera. For some reason the camera doesn't turn on and work. I have to call the person on Skype not making a video call and then later turning on the video. There doesn't seem to be any settings that I make the Skype software and the camera work together so I can click on video call and the camera will work. Otherwise the camera works great.Customer Review: Good cam

Bought this cam for my wife since she was having problems with offbrand webcams. Easy install and setup. Only problem is it does have the built in mic (which isn't all that bad actually to my amazement). The built in mic is only an issue because it ALWAYS wants to be the primary like all others. Overall though a great camera for those who only want to plug a wire in and install software.
