Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 ( 980374-0403 )Customer Review: Much more comfortable than the earlier 300 Summary: 5 Stars
I have the Logitech Premium 300 headset at work and liked it well enough, so I decided to try out this 350 when I needed a headset at home for Skype. I was very pleased! The 350 is much more comfortable to wear as a set of headphones, and the microphone is much smaller and less obtrusive. Finally, the volume and mute buttons are sleeker and the lump at the end of the USB cord (presumably something related to drawing power over the USB port) is much, much smaller on the 350.
As far as the comfort of these headphones compared to other non-Logitech units, I would say that they're not as nice as the Bose noise-cancelling headphones that curl AROUND your ears without mashing them down. These 350 headphones definitely mash your ears--like all other headphones of this design--but they seem comfortable enough to wear for an hour or two at a time. The sound quality is excellent, and is far and away good enough for VoIP applications. You'll probably notice some bass lacking if you watch movies, but otherwise they get five stars for sound quality.
The only drawback I've noticed is cord management. They ship with a pretty long integrated cord and there's no place to store it. The headphones don't fold well (or really at all), so for portability purposes that makes it tough. USB headphones won't work on any iPods anytime soon, though, so maybe this is a non-issue.
I was curious about how well the microphone performed, so I did the signal-to-noise test that Dragon Naturally Speaking performs when you first enroll a user. To my dismay, this unit only got a "19" S:N rating. I don't think this number means anything in an absolute sense, but as a relative comparison I've seen scores of 19 and 20 from quite a few computers that have ordinary motherboard sound and the free headset that comes with Dragon. The best score I've seen was a 26 from a Toshiba laptop with the free Dragon headset, so obviously this score of 19 is nothing to write home about. This fact was surprising to me since I thought the USB end-to-end digital headphones would produce a better S:N ratio, but I guess these weren't designed for extremely high input quality. They are, however, "good enough" for the price and I can recommend them without reservations.
Customer Review: Reasonably priced, excellent quality headset--with microphone, too !!! Summary: 5 Stars
Logitech really scores a goal with this awesome headset and microphone for your computer or any other device that has a USB port! It was easy to install into a USB plug and play port; and I have used this for several months now without any regrets.
The sound quality is excellent from the headphones which are indeed plush and exceptionally comfortable. The microphone works well with your computer when you are using chat live software that requires a microphone. The microphone frequency response range of 20-20,000 Hz truly impresses me for a headset this affordable.
The headband is also adjustable. Initially, I had the headband just too tight and after an hour or so of watching a movie on my computer my head began to ache! The remedy was simple: I merely adjusted the headband to be an inch or two longer so that the headset wouldn't actually touch my head. I remain very satisfied.
Another feature of this headset that works wonders is the volume control. You can actually use the volume control to increase the volume beyond which your computer may be capable of achieving! Don't ask me how they pulled that one off; I'm not that savvy about technology. However, the adjustable volume on the headsets proves to be a major selling point. The noise canceling microphone impresses me, too.
Some people complain that the volume control isn't placed right on the cord between the headset and the USB port; but I haven't had a problem with this even though I have short arms myself.
Overall, you just can't get a better headset with a built in noise canceling microphone for this price. Logitech did a great job with this headset and I highly recommend it for people who want quality without spending a small fortune for a headset with a microphone.
Great job, Logitech!
Customer Review: Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk Summary: 5 Stars
I was content with my Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 Headset. I purchased a set for everyone in our house except my daughter. She was in love with my Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphonesthat I also purchased through Amazon. I was unaware that Microsofts product was fragile until one day I bumped them and they fell 3 feet to the floor and broke the right ear piece and wiring. I started my search for headsets again and decided that Logitech's brand was what I needed. I was not concerned with price, I was concerned with clarity and ease of use, the Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 ( 980374-0403 )just sealed the deal with a price that basically covered shipping. When it arrived at my doorstep 4 days later, I was convinced that this was meant to be. I raced to the computer room and spent what seemed like eons trying to open the packaging. It was well packed, and kept from harms way. When it finally gave in, I grabbed the USB tab and plugged it in and off we went. It really was just seconds for the install and it was in remarkable condition.
One thing I would suggest to people interested in purchasing this device is to go out and get a copy of the Documentation so they are aware of what to do. The headset did not come with drivers but instead used drivers that seemed to be developed for Logitech and its devices. This is a wonderful product and I'm sure this headset will be around for a long time despite the fact that this model was discontinued.
Customer Review: A rare find, look no further for a VoIP/gaming headset Summary: 5 Stars
Well, it seems as if Logitech has done it again. The USB Headset 350 provides superb sound, amazing voice recording, comfort and convience all in one light-weight package. I ordered one on Thursday and recieved it in the mail the following Monday, and that was with the Super Saver shipping! Talk about speedy delivery. Anyways, I am a serious gamer and was dissatisfied with my old headset as my mic picked up all background noises, and there was a constant white noise in the background. Additonaly, I was pondering whether or not I should buy a new sound card because on games like America's Army and Counter Strike I had little to no sound despite turning the volume to max. However, after plugging in the Logitech headset (and that's all the instillation required) I could hear four times as far with almost no background noise as the plush ears cover the entire ear (blocks sounds almost as well as the Boise headphones), and using my mic for communication my teamates commented on how crisp my voice was. Although the rebate ended ($[...] for this headset was a complete steal), $[...] is an incredible price for a headset that gives such good sound combined with an amazing mic. Definately recommended to anyone using VoIP or anyone into gaming.
P.S. There is really no comfort issue, while wearing the headset the light-weight plush ears rest gently on my ears, and after a four hour gaming session there was no real ear pain to complain about.
Customer Review: Great headset and microphone! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this headset originally for my wife to record some instructional yoga CDs. We started using a microphone into the sound card and couldn't get very good results. This headset just happened to be on sale at Staples, so I thought I'd give it a try.
For recording audio, it was excellent. The only thing that might improve it would be a foam cover over the mic so it doesn't pick up breathing and lip-smacking so much. Further, the mute on the volume control was too easy to hit and hard to tell - does blinking mean it's muted or does solid-on?
For listening - I've been surprised a by these headphones. First, they cover the entire ear, so they shield outside sound well. Second, they are direct USB. I have a great pair of $150 Sennheisers that I use plugged into the headphone jack on my soundcard. Every so often, the music "skips" (using iTunes 7.0.2 on an HP dv6000 with 2Ghz Core 2 Duo CPU and 2GB of RAM). But this doesn't happen with the Logitech USB headphones. Evidently, the soundcard in this laptop has trouble playing digital audio. The USB headphones set themselves as a separate audio device. My assumption is that the soundcard is entirely bypassed. So I get better sound with these headphones that I would through even the best headphones plugged into my soundcard.
If you are looking for a headset to use specifically with a computer I don't think you could do much better!
