Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Premium Notebook Headset

Customer Review: Excellent Product when it comes to voice recognition...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a high quality headset/headphones. Before I go into deep detail why I love this headset, I like to forewarn that I am tech geek and test everything very thoroughly. Furthermore, I am very picky and extremely quick to return things if the product does not do its intent purpose to my liken. In this case, I wanted this headset to be a great communicator headset during Skype calls as well as for me working on the voice recognition software. Onward to this review - here is my + and - of this set of headphones:

Positive:
* Extremely comfortable and multiple settings to fit onto your head correctly.
* Has a USB connector that has its own "sound card" built in. Why is this important? Not all computer/laptop's soundcard can handle voice and sound @ the same time:i.e. when you talk, your customer voices might get blank out in the process... Hence if you have problems with this headset - try the USB doggle, it will runs circle on your computer's sound card.
* The boom mic can be turn backwards to be out of the way when you are not using it. This serve 2 things that are dear to me: 1) I don't look like a dork when I have it on my head when I am just listening to music and 2) it is more inviting to my co-workers to approach to me when they have a question.
* Sound quality is excellent.
* The Boom Mic has a very good pick-up and works REALLY well for Microsoft Vista Voice Recognition software(comes free with its OS - bet you didn't know it even existed, did ya - try it - it is truely amazing considering it is completely free). Hence, this is a very good communication headset. I really wish I can connect this to my cell phone some how...
* The headset is fold-able and has its own hard plastic case that has molded plastic molding inside the case so your headset is well protected in the box(this includes the USB doggle)! Hence the case isn't just a box so you can dump everything in there recklessly. Yes, putting away force you to do it correctly. Personally I thought the case is well thought out and consider as a must if you are a traveler...

Negative:
* It is NOT bluetooth(IMHO, I don't think there is any bluetooth headset will past the voice recognition software anyway) - NOT a huge burden.
* Cord is quite long can be quite trouble some. I can live with it.
* The ear "muffs" is NOT ideal to wear during a workout - will pickup too much sweat. Yuck!
* Did I say it is NOT bluetooth?!

In short, I love this headset a lot and use it throughout my day(listening to music, answering calls via Skype, and read out my dictation to MS Word and Outlook). I really wish I can use this headset with my cell phone somehow... Did I say I really wish this headset is bluetooth capable?

Customer Review: Well worth the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this headset primarily for use with Skype. So far it has performed above expectations. The carrying case, the fact that these fold for travel, and the dual options for connections to your computer are a nice bonus.

People on the other end of the line can't even tell that I'm not using a regular telephone. The noise-canceling feature of the mike works so well that sometimes people think the call has dropped if I'm not constantly talking. The people I talk to on Skype all say that the sound quality is great.

As far as my end of the call, sound quality is fantastic. The in-line adjustable volume and mute button are very convenient. They're not too easy to accidentally hit, which is nice. The sound adjuster is on the side and the mute function is something that can only be activated by deliberately sliding the button from off to on. The in-line adjuster also has a little clip on the back that you can use to clip to your shirt. I've also listened to music and audio broadcasts of baseball through the headphones, and they perform well. Good bass and midrange in all types of music I've tried on iTunes.

I've read reviews where people say that these behind-the-head style headsets are uncomfortable if you wear glasses. This does not seem to be the case with this particular product. The actual ear speakers are adjustable. I do wear plastic frames, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Also, I'm not sure why this is specified as a notebook headset. It seems that it would work with a desktop computer as well, though you'd probably need it to be extremely close to where you sit or a USB extension. The cord is probably about 6 feet long.

Overall, these are well worth the price.

Customer Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 2 pairs of these to use primarily for online gaming. They are very good. Here are some specifics:

- In my opinion very comfortable. They are not tight on your head at all and are pretty light. I really like the behind the head and so does my wife (does not mess hair at all.) You probably can not do jumping jacks with them on, but they will not fall off due to normal use.
- The adjustability is pretty good too. Pretty easy to fit.
- Quality is very good. I also like the fact since they are not over the ear, you can still hear background stuff - like the kids yelling at each other. Not quite as high quality as my Bose Triport headphones, but for what a normal person would expect there is no issue with these.
- Analog-vs-USB. I thought I would use the USB, but to be honest the mini-stereo analog jacks are the way to go. The USB capability is a nice backup, but if you already have a built in mic (like most laptops nowadays) the USB may create some conflict. With the analog connections there is absolutely no issue with installation or working.
- I think the case is a nice add on. Nothing spectacular, but useful. I did not see many others that had this.

Overall I think these are an excellent choice for online gaming, VOIP, or other headset applications. Watch out though, I found my 2nd set of these at a local major (and online) retailer for a cheaper price. Will not post here out of respect for amazon (retailer has same initials as me), but the amazon price can be beat - which is rare.

Customer Review: FANTASTIC with Skype!
Summary: 5 Stars

I work from home the majority of the time; I don't have a landline and have relatively poor cell phone reception so I bought this headset to use with Skype for business conference calls among other things.

Hands down, this headset is a fantastic deal for the money. I ordered and received it within a couple days- plugged it into my computer (Win XP), it immediately recognized it and I didn't have to adjust any settings on my machine or in Skype before I made my first call. The headset fits snugly around the ears and has some nice adjustments for the ears and microphone. The cord is long enough so I can stand up and stretch while on a call and don't have to worry about it being too short or coming unplugged. The volume control on the cord is nice- the mute button is a little tough to flip on and off, but it seems to be moving more smoothly with time. The sound quality in the headset and microphone is also fantastic- I've tried calling and leaving voicemails for myself to check the quality and I've been impressed every time. The sound is so good I use this to listen to my music when I'm working in front of my computer.

The carrying case is an extra bonus for hauling it around in my laptop bad. It's small and hard so I don't worry about the headset being squashed by my computer of the countless other things I have in my bag.

Love this headset- it works great for VOIP and music purposes on my laptop. I would strongly recommend this to friends and colleagues (and I already have).

Customer Review: Sugoi
Summary: 5 Stars

I picked these up the other day and they are pretty nice. I appreciate having the usb connectivity not only so i dont have to utilize a splitter to have my speakers and headphones work with my soundcard (my motherboard disabled the front mic and headphone ports because i put a soundcard in) but also because it works extremely well for karaoke revolution on my ps2. the mic is very receptive and does not distort when you turn the gain up (no gain setting on unit, its an option for windows and ps2 games). for me, adjusting them the right way so they stay on and are comfortable took a bit but i have an oddly small head, (my hat size is 6 7/8) i generally have to wear headphones on the smallest setting but in the end i got it figured out because the earpieces are individually adjustable, they tilt all kinds of directions and slide back and forth. another thing i really like about the mic is that it is impossible to get it too close to your mouth, it swivels a bit but is not bendable or long enough to fit inside your mouth so you wont get that fuzzy-muffled-under-water-pillow-over-your-face transmit sound. Im not sure how much of the price went toward the case and portability, but im not reviewing the price anyway. I should also make a point of how it the speakers sound. They sound fantastic. I mainly use them for CS:S and it's really handy being able to hear where someone is from their footsteps and switching weapons, no static or extra sound gets in the way or is produced from the headphones.
