Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse Plus (USB)Customer Review: Love this little mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my laptop because, like others, I HATE touchpads. And this little mouse is just perfect. Works well, plugs right into the USB port, and my laptop (which has Vista) picked it up automatically and I was using it right away. At first I wanted a wireless mouse, but I've used wireless before and they were more of a pain than they were worth, so I wanted to try a wired mouse and I really like this one. The cord is short (so I'm not constantly fighting a wire) and wraps around the mouse for storage and I don't have to worry about it 'dying' on me because I forgot to charge it.
It's smaller than a standard mouse, yes, but it's not so OVERLY tiny that it becomes a pain to use. Even my boyfriend uses it with no problems and he's 6'2 and has pretty good-sized hands and he says the size of the mouse doesn't bother him.
If your USB port happens to be on the left side of your laptop (and you're right-handed) this probably won't work for you because the cord wouldn't be long enough to string all the way around the back of your computer to reach comfortably to the other side. But if the USB port is on the right side or even in the back, you should be just fine.
I personally love the way the cord wraps around the mouse itself for storage. You just wrap the cord into the side grooves, snap the USB plug into place (which covers the optic lens) and drop it into your laptop bag.
Very pleased with this mouse all the way around.
Customer Review: Turning a tablet into a home base computer. Summary: 5 Stars
I have an IBM (now Lenovo) Thinkpad computer which is a hi-tech marvel for portability. (I carried it on a long-distance, month-long motorcycle trip.) However, its power went to waste when I had it at home, because the stylus and the compact keyboard are just not adequate for intensive data entry. Little did I realize that, if only I could get around that barrier, the processor, the memory, and the operating system (Windows XP) far outclassed my desktop computer (Windows 98 vintage).
Then I found that, when connected to its "dock", which provides more outlets, the Thinkpad could accommodate a full-scale PS/2 keyboard and this Logitech Optical Mouse (USB). Suddenly I have my little tablet serving as my base computer! And the mouse is entirely adequate. As mentioned in some other reviews, it does require a little more lifting to make long moves, but my overwhelming feeling is that it has made my day.
And by the way, I was deterred at one point by a misapprehension about the "optical" part. It's not a laser for pointing at the target. It's a light that shines downward where the mouse pad used to be, and substitutes for the rolling ball. (Everybody else in the world probably knew this already, but just in case anyone didn't, now they know.)
Customer Review: good little mousy Summary: 5 Stars
EDIT: 3 stars(see below)i love it. its like the baby bear: its not too big and not too small. perfect for travel and for everyday use. its very durable. ive slammed it into many tables while moving my laptop with it connected. ive yanked on the cord. ive smooshed the usb connector on pillows and such while the laptop is on my lap. the mouse itself works perfectly. cord wraps around the base fairly easily for transport. only problem is that you must wrap the cord very tight in order to snap in. some people might like the cordless mice but i personally like cord mouses better. in my experience the cordless mouses respond slower, not good for the games i was playing like world of warcraft. Dont worry ive quit the game and it no longer has its grip on me. ive also broke the little usb transmitter on those things from pressing up against things when the laptop is on my lap. so buy this cheap good mousy.
EDIT: 3 Stars. Ive the cord attaching to the USB becomes loose after awhile. ive broke 2 of these mouses, each in about 8 months. i guess im rough on those cords. once i saw the Logictec Nano i finally went wireless. theres no way i can damage that USB conection and Its very responsive, just about as good as a cord.
Customer Review: Great travelling mouse Summary: 5 Stars
The cord management function on this mouse has got to be the best of its features. You can wind the cord around the base of the mouse, and the USB plug clicks into position on the underside, protecting the optical sensor. I'm using the mouse with Mac OS10.3 on an iBook, and both the right-click button and scroller work exactly as they should. There's no thumb-click button, but frankly, that's not the most useful feature anyway on a notebook-sized mouse. There's nowhere comfortable to put the button on a mouse this small, and it would end up being more in the way than anything else, as I have found on other models. This mouse is also visually pleasing - a sort of greyish-silver metallic color on the top surface where your palm rests, with a tasteful greyish-blue imprint of the Logitech logo, and black all around the sides. If you haven't used a notebook-sized mouse before, the size takes some getting used to, but the particular rounded design of this mouse makes it a comfortable fit in the palm. Also - I ordered this mouse on a Friday afternoon with supersaver shipping, and I received it by the following Monday afternoon! Great value for the price all around.
Customer Review: ifty Netbook Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
These little mice are perfect for use with our school netbooks. We use them with a netbook cart and have to remove them from the netbooks in order to charge the netbooks. Students find them easy to unwind and rewind when their work is done. They are just the right size for our young students' hands. We have only had them a short time. If they last a couple of years we will be the happiest ever! They length of the connecting cord is perfect for the size of our student desks too. Not too short to have ease of movement, not so long that the cord is in the way. We really like the wrap and snap feature of the cord. No tangled mess in the mouse bucket. Only drawback we have is that students have to tug on the cord slightly to wrap the cord well enough for the snap feature to work. If the cord were just a quarter inch longer, students would not have to tug on them to get the snap to snap. I searched for weeks for the right mice to put with our netbook cart. I am very happy with the results of my search.
