Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Red)Customer Review: For people who runs Windows 2003 Server... Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't know Logitech "officially" didn't support windows 2003 server until I received it and try to install mouseware.
But... they don't.
Since it runs perfectly well on windows2000 and XP, and I didn't want to change back to XP, I thought mouseware should work in 2003. Logitech just blocked us from installing it.
So, here's a little trick. right click on mouseware.exe, and go to property -> compatibility.
check "Run this program in compatibility for"
and select windows XP.
and then double click the program.
now it should install flowlessly, and you can assign to any button for whatever the function you want.
BTW, mouse itself is amazing. I was using MS intelli explorer 3.0. and I thought if any mouse has better resolution than mine, I wouldn't feel the difference because mine was already too good. I thought human can't sense that preciseness.
but I feel the difference.
It's different.
Customer Review: Old Workhorse Summary: 5 Stars
I have used the same model since 2004 or 5. My initial impression were that the forward button was too far out, but I gotten more than used to the button placement over the years. Also the rubber coat on the side and on the middle mouse button attracts dust like crazy. I just cleaned it a month ago and I was shocked at how much hair and dust gathered on the wheel albeit over the years.
However, since then I have used many other mouse models and brands at work or elsewhere and I will say without a doubt the MX510 is my favorite mouse ever. Part of the reason why is that I intensely dislike the free rolling middle scroll buttons found on many of today's mouse b/c it makes it hard to press the middle button without accidentally scrolling at the same time. Also the workmanship and brilliant design of this mouse created a long lasting and relevant mouse that even today I prefer to use. I will continue to use this mouse until I can no longer.
Customer Review: Perfect, Except for the Scroll Wheel Summary: 5 Stars
I have some carpal tunnel issues, so I actually use the side buttons as my primary right click and left click. After the "geniuses" at Microsoft disabled allowing you to program every button on the Intellimouse, I had to look for an alternative. This ended up being an excellent purchase:
-The left and right side buttons are easy to click (no carpal tunnel pain), even if used by a lefty.
- You can program every button-- My setup is that the top 2 are used as copy and paste, while the side buttons are Click and Right click. Try it, you might like it =)
-I am not a big fan of the scroll wheel as it 'clicks' and is not smooth to use; however, you can use the scroll buttons as an alternative, which pretty much solves the problem for me.
-LOVE the "ALT+TAB" button--it's a big time saver.
-Very responsive and smooth cursor tracking overall.
I now have one for work and for home.
Customer Review: Best Mouse I Have Ever Used - Period! Summary: 5 Stars
The Logitech MX510 is a major improvement in ergonomics and precise control over my previous mouse - the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer.
Initially, I was looking for a wireless mouse, but I was concerned about battery life and latency issues. I decided to forego the wireless options and am extremely happy I did.
The mouse should be very comfortable for all right-handers with medium to large-sized hands. The eight buttons are easily customizable and are located in comfortable positions. The software seems solid, though I have not used it extensively.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this mouse and for anyone who needs precise control and does not need a wireless mouse, this should be their product.
Finally, I love the red color - adds a great flair to the look.
Customer Review: An absolute must!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Never had a better mouse!!! I changed more than 40-50 mice (both at work and at home), from many manufacturers (Microsoft, Logitech, IBM, HP, Razer...) and I kept this one for the last three years without a single problem. Works flawlessly, perfect, even after years of heavy pounding of CounterStrike, Half-Life2, DOOM3, and other FPSs. I changed for these three years three computers (two desktops and one laptop) and the ONLY thing of all accessories that I kept was this mouse.
I bought recently Logitech's G5, This mouse rocks, but it's not nearly close to its predecessor MX-510, so I moved G5 to work, and kept sweet MX-510 at home. If you have any doubts whether to buy it or not, DON'T. After couple of minutes using this gem you will be assured that you made good choice.
