This mouse is great. I love the side scrolling abilities and the two thumb buttons. Everything is put together in a way that always works, I've never had any trouble with the mouse. It is stylish and fits perfectly in my hand. The laser quality is outstanding, a leap above normal optical. I have the wireless version of this at my house, and it is less reliable. Both because the wireless seems to cause trouble and because it has a few extra buttons that I can't seem to get to work. This is a great feeling mouse. It's important to me to have a natural feeling tool when I work. I spend most of my day editing video on a Mac Pro and this is the best feeling mouse I've found. I'm the kind of shopper that goes into Best Buy, Office Depot and any other store carrying these things and grabs every one of them to test the fit for my hand. The functionality is important as well and this mouse has all of the extra buttons one needs to navigate the web, in addition to tracking accurately.Customer Review: It Works

I've owned an MX400 for several years, and when it came time to replace it, I shopped around for a cordless variant to no success. Cordless mice routinely lose their connectivity, so I eventually returned to the MX400. It just simply works. The multiple buttons and side scrolling are also well placed and convenient, and the Logitech Setpoint software makes it very easy to reprogram buttons as you desire. This is the second MX400 I have purchased, as I have three computers in the house. This one replaced a laser wireless mouse, but it kept having problems. I have tried wireless at work and at home and am coming back to the wired mouse and keyboard as they are proving more reliable. I also have large hands and this fits me better than most, but it is still not what I would call large. Bottom line is that this is a good mouse for a good price. I've owned this Logitech mouse for a few months, and am quite content with it. I'd been using a Gigaware wireless 'optical' mouse that had awful wireless reception (even when the USB dongle was less than an inch away!).
This mouse works on pretty much any flat surface, unlike most 'optical' mice.
I rarely use the two extra Forward & Back buttons, but they don't get in the way, and you can remap them, if you wish.
