Customer Review: Best mouse I've ever had. I could draw with this. No mouse pad required. And I love the four additional handy controls.

CONTROL: The high resolution of the tracking is wonderful and from the first moment I used it, it was obvious I had never used one that had this high level of control--though I've used many laser mice.
RANGE: I was worried that the sensor/transmitter would have to be in close proximity to the mouse or even line of site--as is the case with other wireless controls I own--but in realitiy I can use the mouse at least tens of feet away from the computer and it works fine. So this is an excellent mouse to use when doing a presentation where the computer has to be at the front of the room just to work with the projector and I ideally want to stand at a podium or even on the other end of the conference room table or the front row of an auditorium.
APPEARANCE: It looks great but be aware that the blue in the picture is lighter than that of the actual product.
SETUP: It came with batteries, I inserted them, put the stick in the USB port on my laptop, and fairly instantly--without having to install any additional software--it worked on my Windows Vista system on my Sony VAIO.
EXTRAS: The forward and back buttons are something I've never had before on a mouse, and now I consider them essential. I have had a scrolling wheel and that too has become something I would rather not do without.
It also comes with a cord extension in case you don't like having the stick jutting out from your USB port, as well as an adapter for the old mac serial ports.
If you move the wheel side to side instead of up and down, it will zoom in and out on your digital photos.
BOTTOM LINE: I bought this out of frustration with the touchpad on my laptop computer, and am extremely glad I did. I don't have to zip around my screen with my pointer nearly as much since I can perform forward, back, scroll, and zoom right on the mouse without even moving it.
And when I do move it, to edit a photo or draw something, it is extremely precise.
On top of all that, since it's an optical / laser mouse there's no ball to get dirty and I don't even need a mouse pad. I can use it on the floor, a tabletop, or any other flat surface such as a book I'm holding on my lap.
Given how increadibly well this works, I might just order up a Logitech cordless keyboard as well.
