Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Harmony 890 Remote Control - RefurbishedCustomer Review: Worth the Time to Understand Summary: 5 Stars
The initial setup of this device seemed confusing, but after having used it a while I'm very impressed.
The setup application is brilliant providing the flexibility to customize all aspects of the equipment being controled, and the included extender communicates with the remote using Radio Frequency (RF) signals eliminating the need for line-of-site to the equipment being used.
The only drawback so far is lack of the ability to control the power off sequence that turns all of the equipment off. I have a separate Z-wave switch to power on an external sub woofer amplifier that is powered on automatically, but is not powered down; I need to remember to use the remote to power it down manually.
This is a wonderful value.
Customer Review: Runs everything with ease Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second universal remote. I won one a while back an it was nice to use but not without some bugs. So when I saw this one on sale, I decided to get it. I have really liked it. This remote has some very nice features. The first one I noticed was that it is motion sensitive. When you pick it up, the buttons light up so you can see what you want to do. It runs everything with ease. The set up is simple. You do need to know your model numbers but after that it is easy to follow the on screen instructions. My biggest problem with the last one is that it did not hold a charge. This lasts the night of watching tv, 6 hours, out of the charger and still works. I could never tell this was a refurb. Very glad I bought it.
Customer Review: Excellent! This remote is a perfect addition to my home theater! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this remote with the intention of simplifying the TV/Receiver/Satellite box setup, so that everything could be done easily with one remote. It works far better than I could have imagined!
Pros:
My LCD TV and Dish Network box interfered (RF from LCD was scrambling the remote's signal), and using this in RF mode is a perfect solution!
Turning everything on with one button = brilliant!
Rechargeable battery and cradle - the cradle isn't as finicky as some people said on this and other remotes... I don't even need to watch, I just drop it and it works every time.
Cons:
No PS3 control without adapter (Sony's fault for not including IR)
Customer Review: Harmony 890 Deos The Trick Summary: 5 Stars
I needed an RF remote for my U-verse Motorola 1216 receiver. From the comments on the forums I checked out only the 890 appeared to be the only remote to work consistently. I went for it and oh boy am I a happy camper. Not only does it do all the functions of the 1216 remote it does them seamlessly. The RF Extender actually appears to run better than the original IR remote. Setup is an absolute pleasure on my MAC. The software is outstanding and this is an opinion from a software designer. I fully recommend this product. My only concern is that I see 2 bars out of 3 from the battery indicator when fully charged. I will contact Logitech after I get more time with the system.
Customer Review: Great product, easy to setup w/ one gotcha... Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great remote. I have been using it for a few weeks now so I have grown accustomed to the button layout. I haven't used the RF extneder yet, but after my experience with the remote, I'm confident that it will work fine. The only gotcha is the programming software. The software itself works great, but getting it started took some trouble shooting. From the forums I read it is a common problem, that is most often due to your anti-virus software. Disable your anit-virus and/or firewall and it will work great. I think I am going to get another harmony for upstairs, but with out the RF since I have line of sight to all of my components there.
