Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Harmony 676 Universal Remote ControlCustomer Review: Fantastic remote! Summary: 5 Stars
I should have bought this years ago. I've tried "universal" remotes that just don't have the buttons I need to work my relatively simple system. But this remote actually does replace the 4 that I used to have, and controls all of the features I use on my equipment. It feels good in my hand, and the buttons are sized and placed in useful and at least semi-intuitive places. Setup was straightforward. Although, as previous reviewers have noted, the Harmony web site gets a little jammed sometimes, so it can be a little frustrating to set this up if you pick the wrong day or wrong time. A little patience solves that problem. And so far, battery life seems to be pretty good. Perhaps the reviewers who were experiencing poor battery life were using backlighting a lot; I find that I don't, and that may be why the batteries are doing well. I would recommend this remote to anyone who wants to get rid of remote clutter.
Customer Review: Best remote I've ever had! I love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had many remotes over the years, but my wife and child have been frustrated by the complexity of multiple remotes in multiple systems, so I have almost always had to come to their rescue. I have tried several highly-regarded "universal" remotes, but was never able to achieve a simple, complete, foolproof solution.
This remote is small, lightweight, comfortably shaped, and fully illuminated. The buttons are logically arranged and I can find them without looking. Best of all, this model actually works! On my first pass through the software, I was able to get completely automatic one-button activities. I did two minor tweaks the next day and now I have 100% functionality.
I ordered another 676 to use in another room, so now my family can easily use the same familiar remote buttons on a completely different system, without my help. Finally!
Customer Review: surprised by the web support! Summary: 5 Stars
this thing even controls my somewhat odd NAD components and my Playstation Two, and i didn't have to type a thousand little product codes into the keypad to do it. big thumbs up.
all my components were defined through the internet, and Logitech stored the info and programmed my remote through the PC software. it's a great system in terms of staying up-to-date and all, plus, when i requested something specific, Logitech made the change for me. all i had to do was re-synch the remote.
once i figured out how things were organized, i was able to program some very specific changes that worked really well on my setup. i'm very pleased.
if i have a concern, it's that Logitech retires the product or protocol and that i won't be able to program the remote any more, since it's so reliant on the internet interface.
Customer Review: Best in te Harmony lineup. Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite in the Harmony lineup. When I first considered the Harmony I wasn't satisfied with the 880, the buttons were not tactile and were hard to find. I purchased a different model and the buttons had some profile but were not tactile. I ended up with four different Harmony models before I decided on the 676. I've purchased seven now and have three in two different homes using the different color faces and one at my mothers house. It especially makes it easy for those that are not technically savy like my wife and mother. No matter what system they're using the remote funtions the same. Also with the ability to program it through the Harmony website it seems to be only limited by your imagination. You can keep going back as you think of a new tweek and change it. This is a great product!
Customer Review: Works for me! Summary: 5 Stars
A few minor tweaks to set it up, (I had to go back and put a delay on it turning on the tv since the cable box had to boot up first). Now it does the job. My wife and I have become adept at using the inputs on the unit after a little struggle with the timing. She had to learn to give it time to turn on/off all the components since it can only do one at a time. I had to learn to press the round "ring" more slowly and carefully.
Our system includes an old ReplayTV box and an obscure DVD player. Both were on logitech's website and I suspect that just about every make and model is covered by now.
I bought a second 676 for the bedroom and, same thing....works fine for us. I never thought I'd pay $100+ for a remote but it is worth it 'cause it makes life simpler. PS My wife enjoyed choosing the colors.
