Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Harmony 676 Universal Remote ControlCustomer Review: Amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
I was pretty frustrated with my 4 remote controls. Syntax Olevia 37"LCD HDTV, DirecTV receiver, Cyberhome DVD player, and Onkyo HT. Every time I switch between input sources, I always have to scroll through the input sources for the TV. It gets pretty annoying!!! I also use my entertainment setup with my Dell computer. Now all I have to do is press one button, and this wonder will change setup everything for me. Now I am down to 1 COOL looking remote, and I saved alot of trouble using multiple remotes for one activity. For example, I want to watch DVD, and I was watching DirecTV. I need TV remote to switch input source to component, I need Onkyo receiver remote to switch input source to DVD, and I need DVD player remote to turn it on... Now, 1 button does it all! One downside is that for some reason, this remote somehow forgets to change input source correctly, and I have to adjust it by pressing "Help" to get the problem fix. It happened couple times in the past month I have this thing... but still much easier compare to using 3 remotes for 1 purpose. Web setup is wonderful and easy. Little slow, but okay. I recommend this item because it really clean up all the remotes in your living room or entertainment room. It controls up to 15 devices. including computers, and xBox as well.

I've tried other universal remotes and always returned them because they were limited in what they could control on each device. It always seemed like I ended up with a solution that required serious performance tradeoffs, and often had me grabbing the original remote to control some features.
Not so with the Harmony line. Because it connects to your computer, and accesses an ever growing Internet database of devices, with even the most initial of setups, it controlled nearly every feature of every device in my system - including my early 1990's solid state JVC receiver, a device NO other universal remote could even turn on. And for those few features it couldn't yet control - it didn't recognize the PIP and disc menu commands on my new LG DVD recorder - it has a phenomonal "learn command" feature that allows you to point your existing device remote at the Harmony and "teach it" unknown button commands. So far it has worked every time.
It is true that after initial setup, tweaking the remote activities took about 50 connects to my computer and trial and error over 2 days - total time maybe 5 hours - but once I got it dialed into my system, everything works absolutely perfect. It really is an amazing achievement.
Customer Review: Easy to setup - Extremely ergonomic Summary: 5 Stars
I was initially considering the Sony Commander remotes when I heard about the Logitech Harmony's. After seeing the layout of this remote and the fact that you can use it one-handed vs. two-handed with the Sony... well, I was sold.
After receiving the unit, I assumed I would be spending several hours setting it up. Well, half an hour later, I had all of the basic programming to run my HDTV, receiver, dvd, PVR and my IR dimmable lights! The configuration website is very well-designed and I REALLY like the fact that Logitech stores your config on their servers. If I ever lose my remote, all I need to do is hook up the new one and run the "Update" command.
Button sizes and layout are excellent. The LCD display up top is easy to read and highly configurable via the website. The underside of the remote is made of some kind of rubber-like material that grips well.
The ONLY gripe I have about this is that the circular 4-way dial on the unit seems a bit small and kind of like a pop tab on a soda can. You get used to it after awhile and it is no big deal.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Customer Review: Great remote! Summary: 5 Stars
I've only had this remote control a few hours, but it works so well I can't wait to write a review. I've tried a few other universal remotes before, but it always led to frustration on my part. This time, the frustration level is negligible compared to the others'. I had to set it up a couple of times because the first time didn't work perfectly. I attribute that to our TV, though. We have a plasma TV with multiple video inputs and, when switching from playing DVD to watching TV, the TV does not go to the right input.
After going through it a second time, it now works perfectly. All the controls are accessible. I can get rid of the DVD remote for sure. I have to keep the receiver and TV remotes on hand because there are other controls that are rarely used and not replicated in the Harmony, but that's okay. I'll have them out of the way most of the time, anyway.
In any case, I recommend this remote wholeheartedly and enthusiastically to anyone who wants to get rid of most of their remotes. It does work really well.
Customer Review: Finnaly 1 remote to rule them all Summary: 5 Stars
After using an 8in1 Radio Shack Chameleon remote for the past 4 years and still having to use the main DVR remote, it is great to finally have one that does it all. i just got the remote, but the setup was very easy. Upgraded the firmware and software and then just put in the model numbers and it did the rest. First push of a button and it worked exactly as it was supposed to. Able to switch to DVD mode or Stereo with a push of a button. No need to turn device off prior to. Volume is adjusted from the remote. Put the other remotes in the drawer and riding solo with this baby. I no longer need to use 1 for the volume and another for everything else. Yes, it does take a little to get used to where all of the buttons are, but it feels good in the hand. i recommend this remote for anyone who truly wants remote for everything.
I am running:
Sony 57inch HD TV
Pioneer 7.1 receiver
Sony Progressive Scan DVD player
Cablevision HD DVR
