Customer Review: Great Remote
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the ultimate remote for anyone with a non-technical (geek) at home. I have some pretty complicated setups (FIOS DVRs, several different TV's, DVD players, Xbox, CD players, etc) all in four separate rooms, all from different manufacturers. The most important thing, though is I have two teenage daughters, one impatient wife and my mother in law. All great people, all divas and not patient with anything technical. This remote keeps them all happy no matter how much I change their configurations. Programming this is EASY with the software provided, and the web site. All you need to do is connect the remote to your computer with the USB cable (provided), get on the web site, identify your equipment, then say what you want to do with it. It's as simple as that - the remote figures out how to turn on the right equipment for ... watching TV, watching movies, etc. The single buttons on top of the remote provide an easy way to turn on everything needed. Example: To watch TV, I need to turn the DVR on, turn the surround sound receiver, turn the TV on, set the input on the tv to HDMI, set the input on the AVS to DVR, shut off any other devices that are on (DVD player, CD player) and there you are. Using this remote, you hit one button (watch TV) and all of that happens. When I'm done, just hit the OFF button, and all of the devices go off.
One of my daughters broke one of the remotes, I bought a replacement, connected the new remote to my PC, started the web site connection, updated my remote, was up and running in two minutes with all of my programming set and just handed the remote to my wife. Excellent.

Customer Review: fantastic remote
Summary: 5 Stars

I am pleased with this remote. I really like how the remote turns on all the devices needed for you when you select an activity. I am also pleased that it is able to control my dvd/vcr combo unit. Mind you, I only got this today, and setup was a breeze. I think I'll go put it to use now.

***update***

It's been 6 months. I have loved it despite some annoyances, and my wife has hated it for the same annoyances...too many screens on lcd screen with too many commands.

I recently got an LCD tv and HD cable box. When I changed the cable box in the remote i stumbled upon the customise button function for the lcd screen on the remote. It's under the tab labeled "additional buttons" which would be better labeled "lcd screen buttons".

I have now deleted all but the most basic commands from the screens, and almost all activity and device screens are down to just 1 screen of commands. I liked being able to rename the labels to different words.

TIP: trashcan all the commands you dont want first, then say done, and go back into the button settings. If you take too long the program times out and tells you to log back in. This happenned to me and all the changes to the device I was working on were unsaved and it reverted back to origanal settings.

I also set the glow time for only 5 seconds to save battery life, which is the only down side. Getting rid of all the extra menu crap will save battery time too, as I dont have to keep scrolling to find the command I want.

Now I love it even more, and my wife might even like it.

Customer Review: Impressive!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first Harmony remote and I have to say I'm sold. I've been checking them out for a while but the price tag has been my only real put-off. I just didn't know if I could justify spending over $100 on a remote control. After setting it up and using it I can say yes, it's justifiable!

I received the remote yesterday and started playing with it after work. I installed the software (works on Vista without a problem), entered my device information and went through the extensive but simple wizard. I wish I could say everything worked perfectly after that and for the most part it did, but I did have to tweak the settings for my TV and CD jukebox. This didn't take long and now everything is working perfectly!

I'm using the remote with a Sharp LCD TV, Magnavox Blu-ray player, Onkyo surround receiver, Motorola HD DVR, Sony CD jukebox and even my Wii (for setting up TV and receiver). It is so very nice to be able to use one button (two for the Wii) on one remote to do any activity I want! I can use all of the useful functions from the original remotes and it's even more useful than some.

The "Help" button works great for trouble-shooting in the event something doesn't work, like if you turn the remote away before it sets the input selection for the TV (I did have to bump the power delay up on the remote as my TV takes a second or two to power on). This is great if someone not familiar with your system has a problem. Anyone can use this once it's set up!

I can't believe I waited this long. Home entertainment is so much easier now!

Customer Review: OMG - it really works!
Summary: 5 Stars

Really! As expected, which is great considering you can buy a relatively cheapie universal remote for about $20. But this one is certainly at least five times better than the cheapie! It fits in my hand perfectly, and I have big hands, so this is a plus. It was easy to set up, but you have to follow the instructions. No winging it! It's not THAT intuitive. Some of the buttons are labeled a little differently than my cable remote, but that is perfectly fine. It would be kind of weird if this remote followed everything that all of my remotes do.

This doesn't work with the PS3, so I really wanted to give it 4.5 stars, but I'll round up. It's fine that it doesn't control it, 'cause we still get to get rid of 4 remotes, or at least hide them in the cabinet. We just thought it would control it when we purchased it. Maybe we're missing something in the instructions.

There are a bazillion buttons (OK, 48) on this thing, so it takes some getting used to. I still have to look at it when I want to change something, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to "touch-type" soon. It is lighter than our regular cable remote, but still feels solid. The display is clear and bright. The buttons are small, but not so close together that you hit more than one at a time.

The things we have connected to it are the TV, dvr/cable, dvd burner, and the FM tuner. Though we can't control the PS3, we're still able to hit the "watch movie" button and it turns off the dvr and switches the tv to movie mode.

All together, a great product.

Customer Review: Best bang for the Buck Remote you can buy....
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned 2 of these remotes in the past 3 years and they are by far the best bang for the buck all in one remote that can control your entire home theater with one remote and one button push. They are a breeze to configure from the web or using the client software and the remote fits in your hand nicely with all the important DVR / DVD buttons in a convenient location on the remote.

Pros:
Low price
Buttons and LCD glow blue and are easy to read in a dark room.
Controls just about any IR devices (TVs, Dvd players, Receivers, CD players, playstation 2, etc.)
Logitech keeps a database of all the programming codes for you so you just need to tell them which components you have and how you are connecting them.
Logitech keeps a database of your remotes so you can easily restore or modify your remote settings.

Cons:
No bluetooth support built-in to control bluetooth devices like playstation 3 when used as a blu-ray player. This can be worked around with an additional PS3 harmony adapter for the PS3 for an additional $50.
Not as "rugged" as other cheaper remotes when dropped from the couch or coffee table to the hard wood floors due to the nice LCD display and usb connector. Probably not an issue with carpeting.
Needs 4 AAA batteries rather than the more common AA. Not much warning when batter level is low and the remote is about to stop working.

Both of my earlier remotes eventually succumbed one too many drops, but despite that, I'm now purchasing my third one.
