This remote is very easy to setup, all you need are the model numbers of the components you would like it to control and a USB connection to your computer. The color touch screen is very cool and works flawlessly. Very bright display and lighted buttons. It is actually easier to recognize the button icons in a dark environment rather than a lighted environment.
The form factor is not single hand friendly. Although, it does feel good in both hands using your thumbs to press the buttons much like a game console controller. I find it works best for me if I set it on the arm of my chair or on my thigh and operate it with one hand. The volume and channel buttons are exactly opposite from any other remote I have used. I would have also liked a battery meter on the display rather than a warning when the battery gets low. These are just minor annoyances compared to the overall functionality of the remote.

I am a customer from Istanbul Turkey. I bought my Harmony 1000 from an estore here in Istanbul. Everything was fine untill this device does not have the needed codes for my back projection TV of Turkish origin. So I decided to let it to learn holding my old remote control in fromt of Harmony 1000. Oops it did not recognize anything. No action. I tried it with my other remote controls too. But no way. I have written it to Logitech through their web sites. They asked a few questions and without any struggle they said that they are going to replace it. So they did. After 10 days I had the new Harmony in my hands. Unfortunately the problem did not solved. So they called me back and after app. 1.5 hours struggle we manage it to learn through phone support.
I believe that this kind of support does not happen regularly. They are caring for an international customer. That's why I congratulate them.

I've been using the Logitech Harmony 1000 for over a year now and overall this product works well. Programming is a freeze and the remote navigation is very simple. The only issue that I've run into are random lock-up's where the remote stops working for no reason. When this happens the only way to correct is to remove the battery allowing the remote to reboot itself. However, I am happy to report that a recent firmware update has just about corrected the issue. So the key is to stay up to date with all software and firmware updates for this remote. As others have reported it does take some getting use to as the touch screen is great but there is a learning curve if you are use to TV surfing without looking at the remote. This remote is expensive no doubt but worth it as once you have every device configured/programmed the way you want there is no turning back.Customer Review: Works well for me

It took a while to setup, but the fact is that it was not made for any specific device, but to controll all of them. I have a cheap circut city ESA plasma tv, and with some tweaking, this remote works better than the one that came with the tv. It controlls all of my electornics that I have entered in so far. DTV sattelite DVR, kenwood AV reciever, pioneer dvd, and emerson VHS. It is extreemly tweakable and in one evening I had it working great.
The software that came with it did not run on Vista, but I think the online download does. The unit is a little ocward but maybe the other units they make are more conventional to a remote, but I wanted the big touch screen. Over all I am very pleased with the product. I most like the fact that I will not have 5 remotes kicking around, and if I add anything new, I can add it to the remote.

don't believe what you read in other posts. they are obviously written by people that have no programming capabilities what so ever. i am actually one of those people that have limited programming knowledge but i got this remote to work for me right out of the box. no problems, no glitches, no calls to tech support. this remote works great and is an asset to any beginning HTS enthusiast. i will say that it is no MX-3000 but if you can live without making your own pretty buttons this remote will work for you. this remote has customizable buttons you just have to read the manual and use the "help" function to figure it out. it's very easy. you can even do two "activities" at the same time if you map it out correctly.
if this "caveman" can do it so can you. at $379 this remote is a great deal. buy it, you will like it.!!!
