Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Universal Remote (Silver)Customer Review: The best remote in the market fot the price you pay Summary: 5 Stars
I did a research for at least 2 weeks looking for the best remote control. Not Only Amazon products, the entire web (Bang olufsen, harman kardon, monster, Phillips etc.) Finally I decided to buy this one for the following reason:
* Price (Specially on Amazon!!)
* Cost-Benefit have must of the same features of an USD 800 remote.
* Appearance: I want something elegant, modern and different (Looks like a USD 2000 home automation remote)
* The programming is for dummies, really easy to set up (Did all features in 1 hour)
* Compatible with almost all my equipments (except Bose lifestyle 12 unfortunally )
* The activities feature is really cool and saves time.
* Can add my favorite channels with icons and one touch
* Can control other things like lights, curtains etc.
Maybe if I can add more features I add the following:
* Wifi and bluetooth capabilities
* Icon personalization for the activities.
* Less steps to go for an specific device
In my home Works with:
* 52¨ LCD Bravia XBR4
* Apple TV
* PS3 (With the usb IR)
* Harman Kardon DVD 38
* Motorola cable deco
* Living Room Dimmers
Now plan to upgrade my Bose in order to use the entire solution.
Customer Review: Just couldn't be happier. Summary: 5 Stars
This is my third Harmony and each has been better than the last. The first one was a marvel in that it (reliably) controlled my various components WITHOUT having to do each function separately - love the concept of "activities". The second was a slight improvement, color screen, better ergonomic shape, mostly it was a packageing upgrade, not a funtional one. The 1000 is related to the other two from the standpoint that it still uses the "activity" concept ... but everything else is MUCH BETTER. This is about as good as any remote could be, regardless of price. Ocassionaly, it will miss a component, but the "help" feature will allow you to get all in order with minimum fuss. I can show a visitor how to run my system (which requires changeing inputs from component to HDMI for certain activities) in about 30 seconds. My wife still doesn't get that part, but with the Harmony 1000, she NEVER calls me when I'm out of town to ask "how do I play a DVD?" (which is usually followed by "how do I get the TV to play now?" about two hours later. She has no trouble accessing all of our systems features ... it's that intuitive. This device may not be perfect, but it's really close.
As I said, I couldn't be happier.
Customer Review: Great Universal Remote Summary: 5 Stars
Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Universal Remote Control I just purchased this universal remote and am VERY pleased with it. Set up was extremely easy and required no special technical skills. The online user guide made setting up the remote an easy task just as advertised on the box. The touch screen display is a nice feature especially when you compare this remote with other higher priced units that really accomplish the same task. Most of all, my family really loves the Harmony 1000 and everyone is now able to enjoy our media room without having to scramble for four different remotes just to turn on the TV and get surronud sound. I just can't see anyone not being pleased with this unit. I would highly recommend purchasing the RF extender as I believe that this is essential to ensure strong signal transmission and eliminating the need for direct line of sight ( I know, this adds another $100 to the overall price, but I still love the Harmony 1000). I would heartly recommend the Harmony 1000 without reservation to anyone. I was even able to programe in my remote controlled dimmer switch so that now we can even control lighting in our media room with the 1000. Great work to Logitech !!!
Customer Review: Harmoy 1000 take... Summary: 5 Stars
I have read many of the reviews and many of them were justified when the 1000 was first released. I had been debating getting one for 6 months now and with the latest rebate offer I figured its now or never. I am glad I did finally take the plunge. I already have the ONE remote but wanted another one for my home theater. The ONE's profile I used to set up the 1000 or at least get me going. I then spent a long time tweaking the components but after awhile I finally got it where I want it. The logos for all of my favorite DirecTV channels also were ported over to the 1000! They look really cool. I am still getting used to the bigger touchscreen but am pretty sure over time it will become second nature. Also the 1000 feels good in your hands. The looks of it are also classy and very impressive. I am using the 1000 with a Carada Masquerade Masking System and Lutron Light dimmers to. It works perfect with them. I am also using it with Blu ray, HD DVD, JVC DTHEATER, Onkyo 886 PRO, Onkyo SP1000 and Xbox 360. Oh and not to mention the new DVDO Edge VP! As you can see it handles a lot for my set up. The ONE will also get the job done but sometimes you just got to spoil yourself!
Customer Review: Really a nice remote! Summary: 5 Stars
A couple years ago, I had the MX3000 remote, which is a gem but costs about a grand. This remote, especially at Amazon prices; sub 400, is a steal!
It controls my:
Onkyo 875 A/V receiver
Sanyo PLV-Z2000 projector
Panasonic DMP-DB30 Blu-Ray
Toshiba HD-XA1 HD-DVD
Panasonic Plasma
Dish Vip 211 HD receiver
Dish Vip 622 HD receiver
The touchscreen is clear, bright, and sensitive.
I love the motion sensor. It works when the remote is picked up but doesn't activate if bumped. This is good because the battery life is short. Keep the charging stand handy! The remote fits the charging stand MUCH better than the previous Harmony 880 that will not stay on the charger unless you put something heavy on it...
So, all in all, this is one terrific remote, especially at a tenth of the cost of some other high-end remotes. For the average consumer, this is all you will need. Of course, it is not nearly as programmable as the remote that costs a grand, but who, on average needs that anyway?
Enjoy!
