Let me preface this by saying I don't have any experience with previous Logitech gaming mice, so this was a first. The ease of setup and use really impressed me, as I was able to get all of my preferences set up and get gaming within minutes. I didn't get deep into fine tuning the details, but even so I was able to enjoy my gaming experience thoroughly with this mouse upon the first use. The weighting system is great: I found that a little extra weight is to my liking, while my wife prefers a featherlight experience. Even after repeated uses in different situations, I stuck with my original settings and the experience was just as fluid and comfortable. Bottom line being, if you're willing to shell out the dough for quality, you definitely will not be disappointed by the G9. The ease of use, setup, and comfort level put this mouse a few notches above the competition.Customer Review: Excellent usability and comfort, but long tangly cord!.

This is a fine mouse. I have a giant hand, my wife has a tiny hand; we configured it for her hand and she loved it; we added weights and changed the grip and it works very well for me. Changing the mouse over from one user to the next is quite easy, only a little bit fussy, but as a practical matter you will only want this to be a one-user mouse.
The mouse gave great response time, had an excellent feel. I used it with three different games, on an Excel spreadsheet, and for moving around within a long Word document, and it out-performed each of the two other mouses I own. The quickness of response, the fine-tuned eye-hand feel, was superior.
The long cord is a bit annoying, and actually slows down response time because you have to constantly adjust where it falls on the table, but the performance is otherwise excellent.

It is difficult to pay $100 for a mouse when you can get by with a few dollar ones. But when that $100 mouse is half that price, it is an opportunity to jump on the deal.
I had been looking into getting a gaming mouse. Most gaming mouse seems to be overpriced for what it does. Logitech G9 used to be one of those but it is a quite a deal since Logitech seems to be dumping it over new G9x.
Despite the sale, the mouse is one of well built mouse on the market. Build quality is excellent, packaging is superb. You get 8 set of weights, 2 mouse forms to fit your size, built-in memory to save profiles 7 button mouse with tilt left and right on the middle button and its high-end braided usb cord. Mouse's feet is also high quality slip plastic.
There is one catch on this mouse as far as I can see. It is the middle button. I use middle button alot and this button is hard to press and it doesn't give you solid click either. It is quite annoying and I would cut half a star for it.

I bought one of these for my wife to play computer games, while she was out of town for a week I stole it for my own use. Now I must have one!
Pros:
* great feel in hand.
* weight optimization is nice, I like it heavy.
* Two different 'bodies' customize the feel.
* versatility - unlock the scroll wheel for using for work, I love to be able to scroll through several hundred lines of a spreadsheet whithout needing to keep rolling the scroll wheel. The side buttons that control back and forth in WoW also let you go back and forward in Firefox. When doing any graphic work I can crank the dpi and get super precision without a bunch of fussing.
Cons:
* none that I know of, a lot of people have trouble with the software but I have found it satsifies all my needs without the software installed so I have never tried it out.
One of these is coming to my desk soon now that I have been forced to relenquish it upon my wife's return. Buy it - you can't go wrong.

more detail: extremely accurate, you can adjust mouse speed with a click of a button, which is great for multiple gamers using the same computer or for individuals that play different games and need different mouse speeds for different applications. Even for professionals I find this very useful, say for photoshop users that may need more control at times. The cable is super tough and I've been taking my mouse from home to school to work and back almost daily and have had no issues for roughly 2 years. Love the weight adjustment feature, it's simply a cool feature and the fact that you can adjust the size of the mouse is also fantastic. It adds individuality but it's also practical as I want a smoother mouse during the winter but sometimes opt for the rougher texture during the summer when my hand gets sweaty.
if you are looking for a mouse that will last you and will stay accurate for many years to come then look no further.
