Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

Customer Review: WOW!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a 73 year old male that has been sim-racing-on-line for eight plus years. I feel this is the best, bar none, wheel for sim-racing EVER!!!
If any of you have the Nascar Racing 2003 by Sierra, this is the wheel for you!!!

I wrote the below review for my fellow NR2003 sim-racers. I feel it says it all!

Well here it is: It's been 3 months now that I've been using this here Logitech G25 wheel...and I LOVE it!!

Some questions that you might ask me, and my answers:

Q: Did the G25 make you any faster?

A: I can't say it did. But, for sure, NOT any slower! LOL

Q: Did it make you a better driver?

A: I think maybe it might have. But mostly because I want to be a better driver!

Q: Is using a clutch and an "H" shifting pattern hard to get used too?

A: It was at least a week before I really can say I got used to driving using them. But "NO" it was not hard.

Q: Does the wheel feel the same as when you first got it?

A: Yes and no. Yes it is still as smooth and easy to steer and shift now as it was NEW! In some ways easer, because I'm used to it!

Q: Why do you think it's better to have a clutch peddle and an "H" pattern shifting?

A: In one word: "REALISM"!!! But also you can shift from 4th to reverse in one motion, instead of "click", "click", "click" and "clicking" to get there! And my last three words: FUN,FUN, FUN!!!

Customer Review: It's like Im Driving

Recently buying Gran Turismo 5 Prologue caused me to want to take my racing game up to the next level. Enter the G25 racing wheel. Playing GT in cockpit view almost seems like I am racing in Daytona. The feedback this wheel gives makes me feel the road and what I may be doing wrong or right. This wheel is set apart with it's shifter and clutch.

Of course a big plus is the complete compatibility with GT 5 Prologue. The learning curve is actually steep if you are used to using a regular controller as I am. Although I guess if you want to learn how to be a semi pro this is about as cheap of an investment you could make. This does make racing games a lot of fun. The components are rather heavy and well made. Now you may be asking, Where would I put this stuff? A desk or table would work fine. Although I am betting most of you don't have a table high enough or a desk available in your t.v. room. That's where the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat comes in. I don't want to sound like an advertisement but if you are going to buy the wheel you will inevitably need this set up. Of course Amazon has it available and it makes the experience that much greater.

I would advise any racing fan who either has a PC, PS2, or PS3 to get this wheel. It really adds that experience you could only find in an arcade. And at one buck a pop that really adds up. This is about the cheapest piece of passion you can buy. And considering the prices of fuel right now this is about the cheapest ride you can buy.

Customer Review: Loving it!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought the wheel about a month ago.
And also bought the WheelStand pro, from a company in Poland to mount the wheel to. I was going to buy the evolution seat, but my wife did not like something that bulky in the middle of our bedroom.

I mainly use the wheel with GT5 prologue. I have yet to try it with a computer simulation game.

Set up was pretty straight forward, the game recognized it right away. I wish I could have more flexibility in the settings, very limited, but that is more a drawback of the game.

The wheel itself is very well constructed, solid.

The feedback from the wheel is very realistic, and definitely makes it so much easier to point the car where I want it to go as compared to the game controller. You can definitely feel the car as it begins to break loose, and keep a nice slide going.

For some odd reason, all the cars changed their handling characteristics once using the wheel, as compared to the game controller.
All the cars seemed to understeer quite a bit, and I had to change the suspensions settings to loosen them up. As soon as I started to play with the steering wheel, the opposite was happening, the cars now were a handful to drive oversteering quite a bit.

I have been able to improve my lap times by about 2 seconds with the steering wheel right out of the box. In some cases I have been 5-6 seconds faster with the steering wheel.

Customer Review: The best entry level high end wheel on the market.

The G25 is much more precise than the DFP. It is smoother and quieter. The bumps on Daytona (GT5P-Japan) come to life, even the washboard entering turn 1 when you hit it just right. Racing with the G25 is no longer a "tug-of-war" as it is with the DFP. The pedals feel rock solid and surely can handle whatever you dish out. Having large paddle shifter allows you to make use of the thumb rest, unlike other wheels on the market. Having a separate shifter allows you to place it wherever you want.

Mounting the G25 to a Playseat Evolution is the ultimate set up, this side of a fully mechanical motorized cockpit. Mounting the shifter to the shifter add-on with for Playseat will give you a sense of being in a real race car. Which leads to a more immersive racing experience.

Amazon's price combined with 24 hour shipping for $4 is, by far, the best overall deal on the internet, this side of Black Friday sales. There is even an online store trying to sell an open box unit for $249 with no warranty!

I'm glad I'm a Gran Turismo die hard and I'm so appreciative that Playstation is not playing any sort of proprietary games with peripherals like "the other console" owned by Mr. Money Bags.

The G25 coupled with a Playseat Evolution is a must buy if you are looking for a realistic racing experience.

See you on the track...

Customer Review: So much fun

After searching the web to see what wheel(s) work with PS3, this was one of the most frequently mentioned, so I bit... and very glad I did. So, if you've got a PS3 and contemplating getting this wheel but not sure if it will work, rest assured it will.

For best results on a PS3, hook the USB cable to port 3 (or 1?), and restart the system without any other usb cables attached (no controllers), and then you are all set for some serious fun with this thing! Just use the keys on the gear shifter to get your games up and running.

Of the freely downloaded demos I've tried from the Playstation store, I found the following to work with this wheel, most with some degree of FF. Keep in mind I do not use the gear shifter, so I can not comment on the workings of it on these games.

Ridge Racer

GTHD

Sega Rally Revo (only worked when restarted as above) -- has serious FF!

Motorstorm - peddles do not work, but the buttons on the wheel will take their place. The Boost feature is on the shifter control, which is awkward, but it does work. No FF, tho.

Stuntman Ignition - no FF.

In addition, the two full version games I own both worked, with FF intact: DiRT, Need For Speed Carbon. I believe the DiRT demo does support the wheel.
