Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)Customer Review: Best Keyboard I ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
I have no complaints about this keyboard. It looks amazing, great tactile feedback, keys feel great on the fingers, LCD panel is wicked cool, great media controls.
You don't have to be a gamer to use this keyboard, I use it all the time for everyday stuff, I play some games here and there but I didn't get it just for gaming I got it because I have a few uses for the LCD and I just wanted a cool, but functional keyboard that I can type for hours. After I got this keyboard I think I can even type faster than I did on my old keyboard, that's how amazing it is. My old keyboard was pretty loud and people could hear it from other rooms in the house, I can even hear it over my music and games. I got this keyboard and I can't hear it over music or games, and I haven't got a compliant yet that it's loud, thats because it isn't! It's so quiet!
I had this keyboard for a little while now I haven't I don't have any keys wearing off, as what some people say. Plus, who knows what people do to their keyboards!
I really love how the keys are placed out, and the back lighting works really well! Some people like the blue but I really like the amber color because it's really soft and easy on the eyes. The macro keys works wonderfully and I love that I can record them on the fly.
The only three complaints that I have is the wrist wrest doesn't screw on and can feel a little cheap to some, but it's not a big deal. The other complaint is the software that comes with the keyboard. "Logitech GamePanel" I mean it's not that bad as what other people say, but I totally needs some work. Sometimes I will have to restart my computer to get the media display working right. But it wasen't worth taking a star off because I should restart my computer every now and then, since I leave my computer on 24/7.
The Final complaint is the 1.1USB ports on the back, I mean they could of done sometimes a little better to make them 2.0 and powered, but I didn't bother taking a star off because I don't use them anyways!
Anyways, this is a excellent keyboard! I highly recommend it if you are looking for a new keyboard.
Also, I remember checking out this keyboard at Best Buy and it was $99.99 + the 7% tax we have here, it would be a total of 106 dollars. And I picked it up on amazon for around 70 dollars. Now thats a good deal!
Customer Review: In defense of this massively underrated work of art Summary: 5 Stars
The title pretty much sums up my opinion of this keyboard and the general opinion of a few of the users who have reviewed it so far. Now, I normally try to present my opinions without mention of those of other peoples', but in this case, after reading some of the other reviews of this item I really feel I must make an exception.
First of all, I'd like to point out that just because an older version of this board had a few features that were cut doesn't automatically make this one suck. Secondly, I'd like to point out that this board technically has 18 macro keys if you take into consideration that it has three different modes, and on top of that an unlimited number of profiles you can switch between with the software. Third of all, I'd like to remind everyone that a company's policies and its products are not the same thing, and should not be treated as such.
Anyway, I sincerely don't mean for this review simply to be about bashing other peoples' opinions, so now I'd like to get to explaining why I do like this keyboard. For one thing, the LCD is a lot more useful than people are giving it credit for. Combined with Trillian, answering ANY instant message from within ANY program without having to alt-tab becomes a piece of cake, which is especially nice for anyone who runs fullscreen applications and IMs a lot. The same thing goes for media playing; whenever you have a media player open it automatically switches to an iPod-like view, which is also handy when in fullscreen.
The macro keys and modes are another huge plus. They aren't limited to just emulating a few keystrokes; they can also act like shortcuts, enter a block of text, or even be assigned to a script (I haven't messed with scripts that much, but they're in Lua and are fairly easy to write. There's full API documentation included as well).
Those are the main benefits for me; there's a couple of other neat things, like the switch to turn off the windows key and the USB ports in the back, but those aren't as major. As for durability, I don't know how other people have been abusing their boards to make them break, but I've even dropped mine a couple times and there's barely a scratch on it.
Overall, what I'm trying to say is that it's simply a great investment, especially if you're intending to buy one good keyboard for the long-run.
Customer Review: Best keyboard I've ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned many different keyboards in my life. I've owned the old white IBM keyboards that go clickity clack when you type on them, I've had slim micro USB keyboards. Microsoft, Labtec, Logitech, you name it. I've had alot of different keyboards.
I was using the Logitech Wave Pro Keyboard with the Logitech LX8 mouse (Both Wireless, Mouse was Laser) for gaming and also regular computing. I'm a hardcore FPS gamer, playing games like Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, Metro 2033, Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, etc.. The list goes on and on. Well, I constantly experienced poor latency between the bluetooth receiver and my mouse/keyboard when playing my games. I grew to know how to play with the few milliseconds delay, but why should I have to settle for that? I was ALWAYS at a disadvantage because of it.
So. I bought a brand new Logitech G15 directly from Logitech for the low tag price of fourty seven dollars. They had a special with a coupon code to get a Logitech G15 in a dented BOX (still brand new keyboard) for fifty bucks off retail. I believe it was 97 dollars - 50 dollar coupon code equals 47 dollars. With free shipping. You just can't beat that.
Then I found a great deal on a Logitech G500 Laser mouse on Amazon just minutes after I ordered the keyboard. It was sold as used but might as well have been labeled brand new, it hasn't seen anywhere near the use I'll be putting into it.
The G15 is amazing. I LOVE the backlit keys for low/no light. I also love the multifunction LCD, I can now know when to log off aka, I can see the time now without ALT+TABBING!
Oh and don't let me forget to mention how awesome the windows key disabler is. No more CTD's for me, Entropia Universe!
BUY THE G15 v2!!!!! (.....this is the v2 =P)
Customer Review: Logitech G15 - An all around wonderful keyboard. Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned now the original Blue version of this keyboard and two, yes two, of the orange. This tends to be my go-to keyboard of choice as the feedback from the keys is just wonderful. I can type a slight bit faster on these keyboards than other keyboards (which is saying something since I figured I had capped out).
The memory functions for the G keys is fun, I like to create simple loops to help my hands in WoW. Likewise being able to turn the windows button off is super helpful. Other keys can be mapped in programs to do other things as well (like the media keys up top).
The screen uses LUA scripting now, I don't really play with it but I like being able to see the time at the drop of a hat.
My complaints though are two fold, small but problems still.
The legs that the keyboard stands with are extremely fragile and Logitech doesn't stock replacements (I'd have been willing to buy them) and the keys themselves are extremely fragile around the bottom edges. I was removing them to clean the keyboard, something I've done with roughly a hundred keyboards (it was one of those jobs folks suckered us into a lot at CC and BB...yeah I worked at both in the last five or so years :( ), and the alt key shattered like I had pried at it with a crowbar! I was shocked and very disheartened.
These keys also cannot be replaced, you'd have to replace the entire keyboard which is a supreme shame. I'd be willing to spend 50 cents to a dollar per key on this sort of thing. I'm sure others would too.
Otherwise! It is a fantastic keyboard, I have been using it for quite a while now and really don't see the purpose of using any other keyboard.
Customer Review: Get over it! Rock on! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't get it. Why are people comparing this model to the previous model? Who cares you can't get the older model. If you want to compare it to something, look at keyboards that are in competition with this one. IF YOU WANT THE PREVIOUS VERSION BUY THE G11. You won't have the LCD but at least you will have your magical keyboard back.
Anyway this keyboard is fantastic. I bought this over the G11 due to smaller size. It's more than I wanted to spend, but space is a premium. I did not want the monster G11. I did not really care for the LCD; it was not a deal maker/breaker. Games that are supported by the LCD do make the gaming experience more fun. I upgraded this keyboard from a zboard merc, it was the best decision I ever made. The features I really enjoy include; 1) Disabling windows start key. 2) LCD, when a game supports it and 3) 18 programmable keys. I don't know who needs more than 18 (Unless you are brain-dead and don't know how to program more than one key stroke per key). I don't use the USB ports. I did not buy this keyboard to replace a USB hub. I don't play games in the dark so the led lights on the keyboard don't excite me, but if that is you thing you have them.
I have never had problems with the keys. Reading some of the random complaints I don't know what people do to their keyboards. Logitech makes fairly decent keyboards even the entry level ones. People must be abusing their keyboards and wonder why they don't work afterwards. This keyboard is well built. It does not look or feel cheap.
All in all I am very happy with this keyboard.
I would buy this again since it is the best keyboard I have owned.
