I bought my pair over a year ago and it's still working pretty well, even after my 6 year old has used it as a toy. I bought it at around $[...], I see its now about $[...], but its definitely worth the extra bucks. The quality is excellent, the mic works like a charm. I use it for long hours play sessions of WoW, and conferences in ventrilo and everyone can hear me very good, and there's no noicy interferences. My group has even asked me about my headset and many were surprised of how cheap and good mine were.
I definitely recommend it to anyone. If you have sensitive ears, after a couple of hours it might hurt a little. What I've done is add some foam to the plastic near my ear and secure it with some scotch tape and that has worked very good for me. Maybe if logitech does this little extra manufacture they'll have the greatest headset by dollar spent there is out there. Even without this, I think its the best quality for the price out there, and I've tried many different headsets from my friends, in all price ranges.Logitech Extreme PC Gaming Headset (980233-0403)

This is my second logitech headset. My first one is a Logitech Internet Chat Headset with item model # 980158-0403. Each of these two headsets has a microphone. The price of this one is a little bit lower, but that doesn't mean this one is worse. In fact, after compared them for a while, I have to say this one has a better sound quality. Maybe just as the description, this one is designed for PC games, that one is only for chat. Maybe, the price difference is because # 980158-0403 comes with four plates with different colors. A brief comparison (0 is worst and 5 is the best) is given as follows:

I think for a headset, the most important thing is the sound quality and being comfortable to wear. I don't care how many colors it comes with.

I only use this for Skype, so this is not a detailed review.
This headset is great for Skype. All I need from it is for it to be bearable to wear for short periods of time; I need to be able to understand the other person; and the other person needs to be able to understand me. This headset fulfills all those requirements, so I am a happy customer.
Edit: I have been through two of these headsets already. The first one I broke by tripping over and destroying the plug. The second one failed on me for no apparent reason (microphone stopped working even with mute switch turned off). Now that Amazon does not carry this headset anymore, I do not think it's worth the price. I got it before for about $15, but now I see that it's selling for over $20. I recommend you look at another headset unless you find a good deal.

I don't have too much to add that hasn't been said in previous reviews, but I wanted to add a bit of something for girls (rarity, I know, but here I am) looking into gaming headsets.
First off is that if you've got puffy hair, you'll probably want to have the back of the headset nestle under your hair; I find that it works best that way because my hair skews the headset on my ears otherwise, especially if I move around too much.
Second is an addendum to what another fellow's review said about wearing glasses with these: yes, they clash over the top of your ears, but it's not really any worse than the kinds of issues you have wearing a plastic headband with glasses. I don't find it a real problem, but if your ears have sensitive cartilage you might want to go with an over-the-top-of-the-head kind of model.

I have spend quite a bit of time with headsets due to my job. This headset is not only comfortable, but has good sound quality (both in and out). I was skeptical at first because the microphone doesn't look like it is very well placed, but everyone love the sound quality on the other end. Also with playbacks I do know the sound quality is good. The headphone parts of the things are very good for a headset. I sometimes find myself using these as opposed to my studio headphones because they are light and still sound good. The cord is very long, a great feature. Lastly, I wear a size 7 1/2 fitted hat, i.e. I have a fairly large head, and they fit great. It is hard to find headsets for people with larger heads. You can't really go wrong with this headset.
