I bought this joystick to play Flight Simulator 2004 and FSX with and love it. It has every button I needed to use and was very comfortable to hold. The base is very stable and I didn't feel that I was chasing the joystick all over my desk. For someone who is a beginner at simulators or flying, this is a great starter joystick. For someone who is a serious sim-player or pilot wanting to brush up on their skills, I recommend getting a yolk and peddal combination.Customer Review: a excellent joystick

The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is a large, sturdy and precise joystick. You cant find a better flight controller in this price range. It has 10 programmabe buttons, a trigger, a button for rockets or missiles, a 8 way hat switch and a dedicated throttle. The handle also has one more function and that is to twist left or right for which I use for rudder control. Overall it is fun to use, easy to learn, assign functions and excellent in normal flight or aerial combat.Customer Review: is better than hardware that costs twice as much

I use mine professionally on an almost daily basis for years and have had no problems with it what so ever, have checked it in my luggage for travel and still no problems. Sensitivity is great, layout is great, have had no calibration problems, and is heavy enough to stay put on your desk. My last one did wear out with time/use but for $30 I definitely got my moneys worth and bought a second one. I often choose to use this input device over my $200 yoke.

In my opinion the pros outweigh the cons though. If you want to a get a substitute than the Saitek X52 this is the joystick to buy!

I even tried the logitech site itself... plus, amazon 'undersold' the expectation of shipping... it told me I wouldn't get it until after Christmas, when, in fact, it arrived 3 days before Christmas!! This was a gift for my husband, so while I don't know the ins and outs of the toy itself, I have to give huge kudos to the amazon experience, price and the fact that it was IN STOCK!! Thanks Amazon!
