Customer Review: Great joystick at a decent price.

I bought this joystick for gaming on my Mac and was a bit disappointed when the box arrived and it said PC only... However, I plugged it in to my iBook and it worked just great on Battlefield 1942 even without installing any drivers (I'm using OSX). I also can use it on my PC without any problem. It comes with a drivers CD for Windows.
It improved my game 100% when flying planes in Battlefield, I would definitely recommend this to anybody who plays games in which flying is involved. It's pretty sturdy and quite large, and very comfortable to hold, though it's definitely for right-handed gamers only.
It has a separate throttle control (a lever that you push forward or backward) that's quite sensitive, and the handle twists left and right to control the rudder (as well as moving 360 degrees like any other joystick). There are 13 buttons so plenty of choice when mapping your controls.
Personally I much prefer this joystick over one that comes with force feedback - the vibration works against what you're trying to do and makes playing harder. You can't beat this joystick for the price.
After this I could never go back to just using a mouse and keyboard. Takes the gaming experience to the next level.

Purchased this joystick as my first over two years ago. It's endured countless hours of hard use and still functions smoothly and perfectly. The stick itself is very comfortable, and buttons arranged logically.
I use it with FS Century of Flight and have assigned the four buttons on top to aileron trim up and down and flaps up and down, the trigger in front for brakes, and the thumb button for landing gear. It all works like a charm.
One drawback, and it's unavoidable, is that it's a bit awkward to have one hand on the throttle lever and the other on the joystick. If possible, I'd have a separate throttle unit. (though I have no room for it on my desk.)
The hatswitch button at the top of the joystick could be better, as it's pretty touchy and takes some getting used to. It's difficult to hold it at a position other than forward, back, left, or right. In other words, to hold it to give a lateral view, it wants to jump back and forth between views, which is disorienting. You really have to hold it precisely, which takes some practice.
All and all a very rugged and well designed joystick for a very reasonable price.

This is my second Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick and I really like the layout of the controls as well as the ease of programming it. I have issues with it's durability but at the going price it is better than any similarly priced and even some much more expensive joysticks I have tried and/or owned. If you are using this joystick to play CFS2 or CFS3 I do suggest that you install the driver but not the gaming software on the CD which come with it. I found that the controller steup and the options offered with the gaming program were inadequate, confusing and that this was one more program that is not at all needed. You can use the "Game Coltroller: function in Control Panel to calibrate it and, at least in CFS3 the "Controller Options" tab gives all of teh variety of options that you will ever need. The first Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick I bought didn't even come with this gaming program. Windows (I am running XP SP3) simply recognizes the hardware and installs it, No CD needed.(As a side note I almost never use CFS2 any more so I haven't even bothered to set this game up but I assume it is the same way).Customer Review: Good Joystick and the price is right

I've always been confident that Logitech products are a good value and the Extreme 3D Pro is no exception. I purchased this joystick to use with MS Flight Simulator 2004 and it's done the job quite nicely. The configurable buttons make it easier to place commonly used Flight sim tasks where they seem most logical to you. This stick has no force feedback but I've never really been impressed with FF so I was looking for sticks without it. The base of this unit sits flat on your desktop and does not use suction cups or the like to keep it still. So far this hasn't been a problem except that when the stick is pushed forward all the way, the back of the stick base tends to lift off the desktop. That's probably too steep of a dive anyway and this may not happen to you if you're a little more adept at FS games. The package comes with a software disc that has preconfigured set ups for many popular games. You should also do a software update through the Logitech site to get the latest firmware and more game configurations.
All in all, I'm satisfied and recommend it.

I had an old Microsoft 3D Pro Joystick with a 15 pin gameport connection that I just couldn't get going with WinXP or Win7 and decided to try the Logitech joystick with USB. I have used other Logitech products and like the vid cam C500, so I said, "What the heck". I use the joystick with Flight Simulator 2004 and it works quite well. The only CON I could find with this stick and the Microsoft 3D Pro is that they don't have a natural feel. I've flown planes and the stick on a real plane doesn't have the resistance and slow response I've found in these two joysticks. By-the-way, I have a state-of-the-art computer (4 gig memory and quad core processor and all that rot) (with no complaints in other softwares). Maybe no one makes a stick with ideal conditions. I've read the reviews on the stick that the "twist" aspect goes awry after repeated use, but I don't believe that will apply to me since I don't use that mechanism often. Anyway, I highly recommend this stick for anyone interested; and, the shipping and handling was quite fast.
